Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 12, 2002 WWF Backlash Kurt Angle vs. Edge The history between Kurt Angle and Edge goes back more than two years, to when the two -- along with Christian -- comprised Team ECK, a trio of superstars who achieved much success in the World Wrestling Federation. But a lot has happened over the past two years, and these two men are now at each other's throats. Although it may seem that Angle has the advantage in this match-up, fans may recall that Edge already holds a number of singles wins over the gold medalist. Last June, Edge topped Angle in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament to win that coveted crown. And last November, Edge again defeated Angle to win the WCW U.S. Championship. Does Edge have Angle's number? Or will the Olympic hero defeat his former friend? Find out at Backlash! And then they even added this picture thing. I don't know about you, but this makes me EXCITED to see Kurt Angle's career go down in flames!
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted April 12, 2002 I don't know, 'sault. Looking at that pic, Angle looks pretty...intense.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Well, of course. He needs to prepare for his future job as a Popcorn vender. Those are some damn tough bastards.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 12, 2002 He should be the guy that sweeps up all the popcorn that the popcorn venders spill during the night.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Yeah, "Popcorn Bitch" outranks "WCW US champion" on a resume anyway.
Guest Special K Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Only one exclamation point in a WWF multi-paragraph article? They're burying the feud already!
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Wouldn't want to make Kurt Angle look good....
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted April 13, 2002 I disagree with you Anglesault (as if that's a surprise). I think the feud would actually be more appealing if the WWF played up the history between the two... on tv! I also contend that thanks to Angle's wrestling ability, the match has the potential to hit ****. And nowadays, the only thing I'm looking forward to is a good match. Guest Report post Posted April 13, 2002 Poor Kurt. Anyways, why does everyone seem to think the match is going to be ****? Because Edge is from Canada he must be good? Edge is horrible. He hasn't had a good singles match that I can think of. He has had low caliber opponents, but Booker T is an OK worker, and the match between the 2 at Mania sucked. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted April 13, 2002 "That's nice. I do not care. The botched rana didn't help either. As for Edge, his match with Lance Storm at last year's Summerslam was great. And if anyone could have a **** match with Edge, it would be Angle. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 13, 2002 Which is amazing since you profess to be a fan of the best healthy wrestler on the roster But I would rather him have bad matches with Hulk Hogan than good ones with the Brooklyn Brawler. And you still haven't told me how we are doing past history in two weeks.
Guest Report post Posted April 13, 2002 His match with Lance was good, but I wouldn't give it **** stars. It really just depends on the wrestlers chemistry. Jericho & Austin are both good wrestlers, but their match at No Way Out sucked.

Guest Report post Posted April 13, 2002 <troll mode ON> i wonder if Angle's wearing a thong in that picture? HA! <troll mode OFF> ok, everyone knows everyone else's opinions on this, since this is like that 4th thread on this topic, let's just agree that Angle shouldn't be bothered with Edge and move on. worth noting: Edge looks like he's having a real hard time keeping a straight face in that "serious" graphic also worth noting: Team ECK was great, but could not compete with Team RECK that is all. Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 13, 2002 I just like the fact that Edge looks a hell of a lot bigger than Angle does in that picture.

Guest Report post Posted April 13, 2002 Edge had a good match with Lance Storm... that doesn't really mean much for Edge, Lance Storm can have a good match with just about anyone. As far as the Edge/Angle feud goes, I think it could be good. But, it seems very awkward, as does everything with Edge lately. They are trying so hard to push him. Maybe they could've started by having him not job to Regal 8000 times. Then this demotion for Angle wouldn't be necessary.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 13, 2002 Did anyone actually ever CALL them Team ECK? I never recall JR saying it on air.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 13, 2002 I have an awful feeling that Scotty is looming on the horizon for Kurt. And they called themselves Team ECK. If you want to include the occasion alliances with Regal, Trish and Rhyno, They could have been WRECK, RECK and SECK. I think they actually did use RECK on the air. Guest godthedog Report post Posted April 13, 2002 i don't understand this. when i watch tv, i want to see my favorite wrestlers do good matches and good angles. i'm a big fan of angle but i would rather see him wrestle edge than hulk hogan because a)edge entertains me more, and b)angle can have a better match with edge. and stop acting like just because he's feuding with edge, angle's somehow relegated to midcard hell for all eternity. bret wrestled isaac yankem for christ's sake, & went on to win the world title 3 times after that. finally: it looks like your boy is slipping. his offense is getting pretty boring, and edge & jericho did a better match on smackdown than angle's had in weeks. Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 13, 2002 It's funny, on SmackDown, Angle was wearing a thong, while Torrie was completely covered up in that Kimono. Man, Vince is definitely creating some kind of bizarro world for himself over there on SmackDown.

I'd like him to have a good match with someone and not get demoted. and stop acting like just because he's feuding with edge, angle's somehow relegated to midcard hell for all eternity. Two months and counting. bret wrestled isaac yankem for christ's sake, I belive those were referred to as the "Dark Days" of the WWF. finally: it looks like your boy is slipping. his offense is getting pretty boring, and edge & jericho did a better match on smackdown than angle's had in weeks. a) He's injured. b) He's unmotivated. He and Austin carried the WWF last year and his reward this year is midcard hell. I wouldn't be hustling if I was unfairly demoted.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted April 13, 2002 This is ridiculous. The WWF is very high on Edge. Why wouldn't they be? Despite the fact that he's been in shitty feuds revolving around brass knuckles and Japanese shampoo commercials for the past five months, he's still very over. He's a perfectly able wrestler when given someone talented to work with. He has a good look. The WWF wants to push him. Due to the fact that Triple H is the champion and Hulk Hogan is riding what should prove to be some very short-lived momentum, the WWF decided to book a match between those two at the next PPV. Makes sense, right? A Rock/Jericho/Angle match would make sense, too, but Rock is out of the picture right now, so it isn't going to happen. As a result, the WWF wants to put Angle, the most over heel in the company, into a feud with Edge, who they desire to push. Their segment on "Smackdown" last night went over great, and by all indications they should have a good match at Backlash. So what is the fucking problem?
