They're recognizing the fact that Kurt is very, very over by using him to help elevate midcard guys. Kane's now the #2 face on RAW, which admittedly is a pretty shallow pond. Still. The fact is that there isn't anything for Angle to do in the main event right now that wouldn't interfere with Hogan's run, which is the top priority because it's a very profitable short-term solution. This whole thread, and the three identical threads that preceeded it, are very warped in an Anglesault sort of way. I'd love to see Angle in the main event. I really would. He's my favorite wrestler by far right now. But, from a business standpoint, the WWF is much better off by having him in the role he's in now. It's all a matter of how the casual fans perceive things, and a Triple H-Hogan match is going to pop a much better buyrate than either Angle-Hogan or Triple H-Angle. If he'd been completely buried, that'd be one thing. But in the midst of these midcard feuds, he's had as much TV time as any McMahon family member and he's had countless matches with main event guys on free TV. He's hasn't been made to look inept against Edge, to the best of my knowledge. Neither guy's really gotten the upper hand, which is fine. It adds more suspense as to who's going to win at Backlash. Just because Kurt isn't squashing everyone and Edge isn't being made to look like a Spike Dudley-caliber threat, doesn't mean that Kurt's looked inept. He attacked Angle the following Smackdown, and Angle only got the upperhand after Booker helped. Edge ebat the shit out of Angle on the next Raw. He dominated a Smackdown match, was only stopped after a chairshot, then proceded to destroy Angle later in the show. A month ago, Jericho and Angle combined were below HHH. Now, they can't even double-team Edge sucessfully. Honestly, I can see that HHH is a big, huge, main event face, but Edge does not look, or seem nearly as threatening. Both Angle and Jericho (Angle in particular) look much better than Edge, stature-wise and in the ring.
