Guest Italian Stallion Report post Posted January 13, 2004 As of now Im really lost on how to spend the rest of my life. Fortunately, I have a really good job which pays more than some of you get paid after a college profession. Sure its great but I really want to go to college and since I have been saving money for it for the longest time, I am considering on doing it. Im stuck between two things. One thing Im interested in, is being an EMT. Its something thats fun and I will greatly enjoy my job. The other Im still a little in the dark. I want to be a History teacher. Preferably, Europe. But I don't know what kind of opportunites there are in getting a Major in History. Is teaching the only way to go with a Major like History? Maybe take it another step and teach at a university? These are all questions that Im asking myself right now.
Stephen Joseph 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2004 Stallion, perhaps I can give you an idea. Right now I'm a master's student in Economics and I work as an Researcher for the government. I choose economics but my real curiousity is in history, much like how you make it sound. There's actually a subset field call historical economics, and its basically analyzing historical questions utilizing various economic theory. There's alot of research opportunities in this area in a variety of fields...most every company wants to understand past trends and how they've changed into the present and will go for the future. That's my knowledge on alternate things on history

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2004 If you want more fun and better hours, go with History. If you want more money, but fucked up hours, go with EMT.
Guest Skironox Report post Posted January 14, 2004 Hey, at least you have an idea of what you want to do as a career. I'm almost 20 and I still have no idea what I want to do for a living. I'm shooting for an AA and just playing it by ear from there.
Guest Italian Stallion Report post Posted January 15, 2004 This is what I Hhave scoped out so far. I got my AA already so all the basics are out ok. I get my Masters in History at UCLA. A masters degree in History can put me in position to teach at a college level which is something I can see happening. UCLA also offers PhD in History but I dont know about that. Being called a doctor wouldn't be all that bad and Im sure its more money in it than an EMT.
