Here we go again

Recommended Posts

From rotoworld.com

According to ESPNews, the Alex Rodriguez deal could be back on again. The Red Sox and Rangers are likely to talk in New York this week.

Just make it stop already!!!!!!!!!! I created a topic for this so, if the talks do happen to start up again this wekeend, we won't get 20 pages of this in the offseason topic.

There are better things to do with 24 million. Hell Tampa fields a team for that.

And A-Rod could probably beat that team singlehandedly, if past years are any indication.

True, but for Boston that's a lot of money for a position that they already have a good/great player at.

So, the minute Nomar says "I'm fine, I have no hard feelings and I'm just ready to play ball for the Red Sox"....the Red Sox start AGAIN.

Christ, JUST TRADE THEM.

Now it's another TWO Weeks of ESPN looking at every freakin little nook and possiblity that they ALREADY looked.

I'm more interested in Greg Maddux than Mr. A-Rod wants to go to Boston.

You know what? Trade him to the damn Tigers and be done with it. They need talent and they have money, I say the Rangers just toss him to Detriot.

Kinda funny when Scott Boras, Red Sox Management, and Texas Management left reports saying there's no more talks going on. I think this was all started by MLB to try to over shadow the Super Bowl.

Here's my crazy idea. The Yankees should trade Jeter for A-Rod.

Jeter costs almost as much as A-Rod and doesn't put up nearly half the production. Texas would tell George to go screw.

Besides the fact Jeter has a complete No-Trade clause in his contract here are some numbers

Derek Jeter

2004: $17.0M

2005: $18.0M

2006: $19.0M

2007: $20.0M

2008: $20.0M

2009: $20.0M

2010: $21.0M

Overall, $135mill left guarenteed

Manny Ramirez

2004: $20.5M

2005: $20.0M

2006: $19.0M

2007: $18.0M

2008: $20.0M

2009: Team option $20.0M (No team will pick these up)

2010: Team option $20.0M

Overall, $97.5mill left guarenteed with $40mill in team options

-Deferred salary: $4M from 2002-2008

Manny Career #s : 347 homers, 1140 RBIs, .317BA, 1.010OPS

Jeter Career #s : 127 homers, 615 RBIs, .317BA, .851OPS

Texas is trying to shed money while getting close to the same production, who would you take?

Of course I'd take Manny Ramirez. But the point is that while the two teams are dicking around, George should make the deal, straight up. Texas saves about $7 million a year, and gets a shortstop, which are harder to find than corner outfielders.

and Jeter would say no, if anything they would have to get Jeter to move to third and trade somebody else for A-Rod...but since A-Rod banged Jeter's ex(she's the ex because she banged A-Rod) before he got married I think their would be ill feelings between them.
