Amazing college baseball prospect

Recommended Posts

Other than his height, doesn't look all that intimidating.

Randy Johnson is scary due to his height, general demeanor, the velocity at which he constantly throws at, and that a normal pitch starts at the head of a left-handed hitter.

Coaches are in love with tall pitchers, but unless he has some sick speed or unreal control (odds are more in favor of the speed), he's just another guy.

Since his freshman season he has added weight to make him a much more dominating force. Great control, excellent release point because of his size and he doesn't mess around.

Right now his devolpment is AHEAD of Randy Johnson, meaning right now he has more control than the younger Randy and slightly more speed than young Randy. He was hitting 93 in his Freshman season which is impressive since he was only throwing 90 in high school.

Second hand reports but he is interesting. He's not just tall.

I don't think he'll BE the next Randy, but he's certainly got all the tools to be a big time major league pitcher.

After some digging finally found his stats from last year as a Freshman. Only made one start and had 16 appearances overall, was 2-0 with a 2.20 ERA in 28 2/3 innings pitched, with 44 strikeouts and 11 walks. From what I read he'll still be in the bullpen this year.

He'll need to get it about 95 MPH to really be a big-league force. Of course, he'll also need some movement on it, either that or pinpoint accuracy, or he'll get destroyed. You can throw a ball 120 MPH and it'll get timed and crushed if there's no movement.

As for him now throwing 93 MPH and being ahead of Johnson in terms of development, when he can hit 90+ for 120 pitches, he'll be as effective as Johnson.

I didn't say he WAS Johnson, but people tend to forget Randy had little to no control when he first came into the league nor was he clocking high 90's

Weight and development will improve his speed and his control is already very close to Randy.
