Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Although Summerslam started in 1988, it wasn't until 1993 that there was a World title match main event. 1988 - Megapowers vs. Megabucks tag match. 1989 - Hogan & Beefcake vs. DiBiase & Zeus. 1990 - Warrior defeats Rude in a world title cage match, but I believe Hogan vs. Earthquake came on last and was definitely the more hyped of the two matches going into the show 1991 - Hogan & Warrior vs. Slaughter, Taker, & Mustafa 1992 - Bret vs. Bulldog, IC title match ... The Savage/Warrior World title match occured in the middle of the car 1993 - Finally, Lex vs. Yoko is the main event.
Guest Choken One Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 JUST TO ADD The KOTR didn't have a WORLD title match for the main until 1996... 1993-Bret Beats Bammer in tourny finals 1994- Piper beats Lawler 1995-Bammer and Nash Beats Sid and Tatanka 1996-Shawn beats Bulldog in world title match We could do this with the rumble since the The first threee Rumbles weren't wwe title matches and they waited until 1996 to have it headline again and actually the WWE Title match headlined 1996-1998 (Taker/Bret, Sid/HBK and HBK/UT)... A World Title wasn't main event of Survivor Series for 5 years 1987-Andre the Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, & Rick Rude Vs Hulk Hogan, Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco, Ken Patera, & Bam Bam Bigelow 1988-Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Hercules, Koko B. Ware, & Hillbilly Jim Vs Ted DiBiase, Big Boss Man, Akeem, Haku, & Red Rooster 1989-Ultimate Warrior, Jim Neidhart, & The Rockers (Ultimate Warriors) Vs Bobby Heenan, Andre the Giant, Haku, & Arn Anderson 1990-Ultimate Survior Match 1991-LOD and Bossman Vs Natural Diasters and IRS and 1992 Bret and Shawn fought in a champion vs champion match
Guest J0bber Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 1990 - Warrior defeats Rude in a world title cage match, but I believe Hogan vs. Earthquake came on last and was definitely the more hyped of the two matches going into the show Actually, Rude/Warrior was the last match. So, I guess your little "interesting fact" is incorrect.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Another Interesting Summerslam Note: The Undertaker has been at every SS since his first match on the PPV in 1992. 1992 - Vs. Kamala 1993 - Vs. Giant Gonzalez 1994 - Vs. The Underfaker 1995 - Vs. Kama 1996 - Vs. Mankind (Taker's SS streak ended here) 1997 - Vs. Bret Hart 1998 - Vs. Stone Cold 1999 - w/ Big Show Vs. Kane and X-Pac 2000 - Vs. Kane 2001 - w/ Kane Vs. DDP and Kanyon 2002 - Vs. Test 2003 - Vs. A-Train
Guest Choken One Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Wow. Three GOOD WORKERS and a SHITLOAD of shitty hosses.

Kahran Ramsus Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 The Undertaker has been at every SS since his first match on the PPV in 1992. He was also involved with the Match Made In Heaven at SS 1991.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Wow. Three GOOD WORKERS and a SHITLOAD of shitty hosses. Yeah, after Kamala it was pretty much downhill... But seriously, the three I think you are refering to were in a row, which is kinda interesting, reward for a couple years straight and then back to the "funhouse" matches.
