Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 16, 2002 I've really been digging Dan "The Automator" Nakamura's work as of late. As far as other producers go, I don't know too many but RZA comes to mind as another excellent one, and for more well-known mainstream producers, Dr. Dre and Swizz Beatz have crafted the driving beats to some of the best rap songs of the '90s. And for the jesuit pig, in hip-hop a producer basically creates and organizes the beats in the background. If you can't stand the hottest new rap track but love the instrumental version, thank the producer
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 16, 2002 Eek! I almost forgot Prince Paul... he can be pretty good too. Anyone else I'm missing? I'm racking my brain, I'm not too good with producers other than the ones I know and like.
Guest KOR420 Report post Posted April 16, 2002 Dan the automater laced all the beats on that deltron cd I've been digging him for a minute
Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 16, 2002 And here comes my automatic MAJOR heat statement....RZA has REALLY fallin off. Dude has been recycling beats for over 5 years now. You can here the same bassline or basic rhythm in almost all of the Wu's music which is the one of the main reason that I don't feel them like I used too. Then that whole Bobby Digital thing....uggghhhghghgh. I think the best mainstream producers are Dre, Timbaland(got to give credit where it is due) and Premo(although I haven't heard any of his stuff in a while). Havoc is the man though. I ain't even a mobb deep fan but listen to them mostly for those complicated and hot beats. But I will tell you who I hate as producers...The Neptunes. Another producer that has one beat and keeps recycling it. When they do try on other stuff, they can sometimes comeup with something different(That beat on that Nsync song was hot) but their hip-hop stuff all sounds the same. Guest KOR420 Report post Posted April 16, 2002 What the hell is wrong with RZA?!?! sure his beats have been kinda wack lately but those bobby digital cd's are hot and the beat off pinky ring is hot too they used a live band for that beat
Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 17, 2002 You said it yourself, his beats sound wack lately. Don't get me wrong. When the Wu first started, they were fresh and original. They had a sound nobody else was coming with. Now they just sound like somebody trying to rip off that sound. I mean, its not original, it just is the same beats so that it has that "RZA" sound to it. And I'm sorry, those Bobby Digital Cds were GARBAGE!!! They were featuring some of the worst lines in rap since Magoo which is just sad seeing as he has all that talent around him, it would seem he would steal a line or two from Rakwan or something. Guest MikeSharp12 Report post Posted April 17, 2002 Although I love the Wu, I will admit that the RZA has been weak lately. However, let's give credit where it's due: RZA is one of the greatest producers ever. (Wu-Tang Forever, in my opinion, had to be the greatest produced rap album, too.) And, even though he hasn't put out anything great recently, it's ridiculous to give props to Dre and Primo, who haven't put out anything in ages. Finally, Hi-Tek? He and his beats were the only thing that kept Black Star from being a great CD. The guy sucks.
Guest One Bad Apple Report post Posted April 17, 2002 dj paul(if i had a penis, i would urinate on him) I was always under the impression that people without penises (usually called "females") could urinate. Huh. Well, ya learn something new each day.

Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 18, 2002 Its funny how Puffy got blamed for all the sampling at bad boy. D-dot, stevie Jay, hell, all of the hitmen were the producers but everyone would say "Puffy just be sampling". NOOOOO. the Hitmen sample. Puffy would come in, throw in a horn and a "uh-huh...yeah" and get a co-producer credit.
Guest Tha Cunnysmythe Report post Posted April 21, 2002 I'd say Warren G is underrated. I'd probably say he's number one, but since I was listening to a Jazz station on tha radio last week and found that he blatently snatched the beat for 'Regulate' from 'I Keep Forgetting' by Michael McDonald, my opinion of him has gone down quite a bit. I always thought that 'Regulate' was his best beat and it's one of my favourites of all time. So smoooooth.... And how did everybody forget YOUNG DAZ. That's right, Daz Dillinger, formerly 'Dat Nigga Daz'. This man was Death Row's main producer after Dre left, and apparently Dre took a lot of credit for Daz' work while he was still there. I'd say he's probably the best. Soopafly's good, too. I'd say that Dre is pretty overrated, though he's skilled. Take what I said about Warren G and substitute 'Nuthin But A G Thing' and 'I Want to Do Something Freaky (To You)' by Leon Haywood. My respect for him dropped, too.
