Britney Spears As The Next Bond Girl?

Britney Spears As The Next Bond Girl?

Gotta love rumors...

The World Entertainment News Network reports that Britney Spears recently met with James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli about becoming the next Bond girl. For now, take this as a rumor only.

The next Bond film is slated to begin production in January of 2005 for a Thanksgiving 2005 release. Peirce Brosnan will reprise his role as James Bond.

Yeah, and maybe Berry and Madonna will finally have that lesbian love scene too, right?

Oh come on!

This is the same series that used Denise Richards as a nuclear tech!

DENISE RICHARDS!

That being said, I still don't believe it. Britney just wants to stay in the spotlight so she'll say she is part of any project and you can bet she is the one who "leaked" this just so she could deny it.

The man has a point.

I don't put it past them to have Britney as a Bond Girl. She's one of the most famous faces in the world right now. It would definitely bring in the teen and female audience.

If history is any indication; you're both wrong on this one.

The usual stunt casting is very rare in the Bond world, and I can't recall it EVER being done outside of DAD in 2002. The tabloids go nuts for Bond anyway (as I made reference to in my earlier post) and Britney's also a favorite of theirs.

The problem is: she can't act. Denise Richards was miscast, but at least she was a goddamned actress. They know Britney can't act, and they won't give her the femal lead. Besides, she's not even a real box office draw (something the Bond series doesn't have to worry about anyway; TWINE and DAD were both hugely successful despite being crap).

Oh, and the Bond series has cast Denise Richards... but they also cast Isabella Scurpio, Famke Jannsen, Michelle Yeoh, and they discovered Rosamund Pike. Any series, with 20 films has missteps, but they're usually dead on.

The James Bond producer is named Barbara Broccoli?

Her father's (who was the original producer) grandfather was the man who first began growing broccoli in America. Hence, the vegitable is actually named after their family.

MGM actually confirmed this a few days ago, saying Britney wanted to meet the producers for a role and they agreed to listening as "a courtesy."

The producers should be more concerned about the script for Bond XXI than listening to Britney's attempt to land a role.

(TWINE and DAD were both hugely successful despite being crap).

Now I will give You Die Another Day, that movie is one of the worst Bond films. But The World is Not Enough is a very good movie. It is Pierce Brosnans best Bond film. TWINE is the best example of what a modern day Bond film should be. It had a very good story for hardcore Bond fans and fine acting by Brosnan and Marceau. It also had the big explosions for the mindless action fans. But fourtunatly, the action scenes made sense and moved the story along.

Oh yeah, Britny Spears is a horrible pick for a Bond Girl. The last thing we need is another film like DAD.

Well, it's obvious SOMEBODY here didn't see Crossroads (or whatever that movie was called)...

I disagree:

- TWINE is inconsistant. James Bond gets the first plot-affecting injury of his career... minutes after a Roger Moore esque boat chase featureing him fixing his tie underwater.

- The ONE decent location in the piece was Isatnbul and it was underutilized.

- The action scenes were terrible, they felt lifeless. Nothing like the visceral action of the 60's and 80's, or the light fantasy of the 70's.

- There's no real reason for James to fall for this girl. He's James fucking Bond... he doesn't fall in love with every girl he makes goo goo eyes at or he'd be dead by now.

- It broke the Cardinal rule of Bond... it was boring.

Seriously, the heart was in the right place (Character driven Bond film) but the execution was spotty at best. DAD AT LEAST had the fencing sequence and car battle to be slightly redeemable.

I've noticed that a lot in Brosnan's Bond films; he tends to show more affectation to his ladies than any other Bond. I know Bond always gets the girl, but Connery just fucked 'em and left, his Bond was a sex machine. I believe that's why OHMSS would of been great for him, the impact of his relationship and eventual marriage with Tracy would of had a greater impact with Connery's Bond due to his past womanizing...and people wouldn't look down on OHMSS like most do today.

But the injury sticks with him throughout the entire movie. The boat scene did run a little long but it is something they have to do in these movies.

But he does not really fall in love with her. He just has sex with her which is what Bond almost always try to do with a beautiful woman.

I guess that is up to the viewer, but I think it one of the better Bond films, definetly Brosnans best.

I think it has more to do the modern times. I would love for them to make another movie like FRWL or OHMSS. But unfortunetly only me and another couple of people would go see it. I know that TWINE is probably the best they can do today. I realized that when I watched DAD. I loved the first half of the movie, I thought it could become one of the best. Then it got to the ice palace and it was all down hill from there. Lets be honest, a movie done in the style of TWINE is the best we can hope for. But with talk of Britney Spears and the way DAD turned out, Bond 21 is not looking to good. Hopefully, rumors are true that Quentin Tarentino is going to make Casino Royale.

If actor playing Bond is very popular, like Brosnan is, then a film like FRWL or OHMSS would do well at the box office. But sadly, like you said, we may never get that chance as long as films like DAD do well MGM/EON will stick with what's 'working.'

As for Tarentino, I'll be damned if they (EON) ever let him near an official Bond film. I would be for it since I think you can afford giving Quentin a shot, especially with a popular Bond like Brosnon, without the brass worried stiff it might fail, which would be the case with a new Bond depending who it was. And MGM seems more willing than EON to think outside the bubble with it concerns directors/writers. Hell, MGM & Brosnan wanted Brett Ranter for DAD.

Actualy, Tarentino wants to buy the rights to Casino Royale and make an unofficial Bond like Never Say Never Again was. Apparently Fleming sold the rights to Casino Royale back in the 50s. The last thing I heard was CBS owns the rights. As far as the actual movie, Tarentino said that he wants it to take place right after Tracy is killed.

He DOES fall in love with the girl. It's why he hesitates killing her, and gets all blubbery after she's dead. That's just one of many problems.

Oh and EON the current producers of Bond own the rights to Casino Royale.
