ESPN's "All-Exclusive"

While this show looks pretty interesting and I'll probably try to catch it whenever it comes on, there are two things that bother me:

1) The commercial says something like "a roundtable with the winningest athletes in sports." Now let's look at the lineup again.

* Roy Jones Jr. is a one-time middleweight, light heavy AND heavyweight champion of the world.

* Michael Jordan has won six NBA titles.

* Serena Williams has won every major tennis tournament at least once.

* Derek Jeter has like 4 World Series ring.

* Warren Sapp has won ONE Super Bowl.

What the hell is Sapp doing there? There wasn't any other NFL player who's more of a "winning" athlete? How about Jerry Rice (4 or 5 Super Bowls), Tom Brady and Ty Law (2), or Emmitt Smith (3)? What about Steve Young (3 or 4)?

2) Sapp's inclusion also brought one thing to my attention: Almost everyone on the panel not only is endorsed by Nike, but by Jordan Brand. Jeter, Jones and Sapp are all Jordan-sponsored athletes. And we all know how far up MJ's BUTT Ahmad Rashad is. Sounds a little convenient that this could end up being the biggest MJ-BUTT kissing event EVER.

I'm fairly certain the thing was just organized by Nike as a fluff piece for its high profile clients. I think Nike has some deal with ESPN right now for orginal programing as I seem to remember a few months back a Roy Jones Jr. special on ESPN that was done by Nike. I wonder if Ahmad can go the whole show without giving Michael a hand job.

Damn, you beat me to my "who's gonna host the show while Rashad is blowing MJ?"

To answer your question though I guess we'll have to see where Ahmad is sitting.

Sapp works for me as the outspoken athlete of the group, alongside Roy Jones, Jr.

He also had all of that controversy surrounding him earlier this year because of the criticisms he had of the NFL. It's a good choice for the token NFL athlete, considering this will give him a forum to speak his mind in an "eloquent" manner.

Sapp is there over everyone else in the NFL because he can be entertaining while still making a decent point now and then. He can be well spoken when he needs to be while never getting boring and typical.

I'd love if the first question by Ahmad was "So who thinks their dick is bigger than MJ's? I bet it isn't, ain't that right Mike?"

Jordan: "Who the hell are you?!"

The thing is, I know why Sapp is on the show: because he's outspoken and controversial (And probably because he's a Nike guy). That's fine by me. But don't plug the show as "The world's winningest athletes," then put a guy on there who shouldn't even be considered one of the winningest athletes in his sport. Again, Jerry Rice or Emmitt Smith would be a way more appropriate selection if the criteria was supposed to be winning. If you want controversey and out-spokeness, get Michael Irvin (3 Super Bowls) or Jim Brown (not sure, but he had to have won a few NFL titles; before they were called Super Bowls).

I imagine they'll be fine on-air --- but there will be plenty of spooning AFTER the cameras stop taping.

Has Jerry won 5 Super Bowls? The 49ers have won 5 overall but Jerry wasn't there for the first one....was he there for the second?

He has three - victories over the Bengals, Broncos and Chargers.

Irvin is genuinely insane. He'd make for a great conversation, but it'd look pretty weak if the best ESPN could do for this special is using someone already on their payroll.

Brown, last I heard, was in prison. IIRC, I don't remember the Browns winning anything during his playing career, either (I know they did with Otto Graham).
