Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2004 With the rising fan base of The Hispanic Market and the fact Smackdown’s #1 and #3 faces are Hispanics (Guerrero and Mysterio), Shouldn’t WWE be taking advantage and doing a tour in Mexico? I could even see them putting the show for a Smackdown Special in Mexico City, It’s not like they would have travel issues they don’t have to deal with already when they hit Canada and the time zone is the same…I’d love to Eddy and Mysterio get a Show for their “people”. They are supposedly doing a tour soon, but with Mexico's economy in shambles, there are questions over whether or not the decision is wise. Also, it may not be the safest haven for Rey Misterio, since he lost a mask match in February of 1999 and put it back on like it never happened, which goes against the tradition of lucha libre. Well, Bad wrestling is against Japanese tradition and they still sent Batista and Randy Orton over there.
Guest Loss Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Well, Bad wrestling is against Japanese tradition and they still sent Batista and Randy Orton over there. True, but Japanese fans don't have a tendency to attack wrestlers. Rey is risking getting stabbed to death or attacked in the streets. History is taken very seriously in lucha, and there were many angry fans in Mexico when Rey put the mask back on to jump to WWE, especially since he was a beloved and respected babyface and a good draw before that. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 They are indeed touring Mexico on early-mid April 2004. Tickets are already on sale but I can't remember the website. Hugo Savinovich and Carlos Cabrera have been hyping it for a few months (if you turn on the SAP feature you can listen to them). Unfortunately, it's a RAW brand tour/show. Smackdown is not aired on mexican TV, dunno why. But I'm sure SD! could lend a couple of stars to the tour, they've done that before overseas. I was tempted to attend, but since I'm already spending a lot of money going to Mania I had to change my mind.

Since Rey does realize this, perhaps since it won’t be aired then, He can go un-masked…
Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted February 20, 2004 I dont think that WWE will have any problems with the fans. They are WWE fans after all. Same as Japan. The people are WWE fans not strictly fans of the Japanese style.

Guest Loss Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Since Rey does realize this, perhaps since it won’t be aired then, He can go un-masked… Since he'd still have wrestled with and without a mask after losing his mask in a stipulation match where he's forced to take it off, I don't know that that would protect him. I do think WWE could do reasonably well in Mexico since they've never been there, but I think using Eddy Guerrero as the attraction and leaving Rey off the show may be the best bet.
