The one and only raw thread for 4/15

Over-hyped shilling by JR tonight.  This wasn't a very good Raw, and the WWF has got to be more consistent with their booking(the obvious solution would be to get Stephanie McMahon the hell off the creative team, of course, but it won't happen).  Backlash doesn't sound too great, especially the main-event, although I'll be looking forward to Eddie vs. RVD.

RAW is BRUTAL continues yet another week. I'm not the biggest Jim Ross fan but even I felt sorry for him at the end of the show. Screaming "Backlash is going to be awesome!!!" as the show goes off the air like if he says it enough times someone will actually believe it. And I wonder who made him say that pathetic line during the Triple H interview about how this match was the match he was most excited to see. Must be his punishment for his digs at the Triple H/Hogan match in the Ross Report.

And then J.R.'s screaming about Hulkamania running wild while people are booing Hogan and giving Triple H no reaction. No wonder Triple H soaks up his entrance so much. It's the only time he can get a pop.

I cannot take anymore of this Bradshaw push. Why the hell didn't they put RVD in the main event instead? Was there even any mention of the RVD/Taker match from last week? Why wouldn't RVD want some revenge on Taker?

Instead, we get the WWF practically getting down on its hands and knees and begging people to cheer for Bradshaw. First, he does the run-in to save Austin. Then he cuts a promo for the sole purpose of bringing up every Texan in history in the hopes of getting a pop. And then, Lillian Garcia doesn't really announce Bradshaw. She just says his name and then screams "FROM THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS" in hopes of getting a big reaction. And to top it all off, they even build to Bradshaw getting a hot tag from Austin and still no one popped for him. They let him pin X-Pac but the fans are far more interested in watching Austin/Taker fight on the outside.

The WWF knows how to push people when they want to. They just always pick the wrong people to push.

The only thing the fans cared about in that entire abysmal main event was Austin. But Bradshaw will get shoved down everyone's throats because he's a hoss, while RVD is wrestling in mid-card matches with people like William Regal and Spike Dudley.

How long did that opening segment last? I left when Austin came out. Came back 10 minutes later and that nonsense was still going on.

Is a tag team with Goldust what J.R. meant about Booker T getting a bigger role?

Well, at least Molly Holly was entertaining and the tag match with RVD/Eddie was good. So the show wasn't a complete bust.

Guess they are already nervous about the ratings drop since they announced the SD main event tonight. Hopefully the tag match on Smackdown will be entertaining and be done in a way that does not hurt Jericho & Angle.

That got me all intense. I think I'll rewatch his segment on RAW so I can learn how to successfully get more intense.

That was a really awful show.  It's always a shame when the women put together a better match than any of the men.  But, you know, when your main event is just a glorified attempt at getting someone, anyone to like or care about Bradshaw, then you're in trouble.

That was Triple H's least INTENSE~! interview ever.  He kept smiling for no reason.  The crowd was just dead throughout, too.  I've come to the conclusion that last week was a fluke, and RAW still desperately needs a few of the better Smackdown guys to keep it together.

I swear if it wasn't for RVD and Eddie being wrestling Gods I would have turned Raw off tonight.  Man that show sucked dick.  I usually can tolerate most of the stuff the WWF airs but that show was like watching two hours of Jakked.  Brock is bad ass too and Heyman rules all.

That was the good stuff......the rest of the show I refuse to comment on.

Well, aside from needless putdowns to guys that were obviously joking about 14 year olds with thongs and grown men, this thread was better than the actual show....

I think the RVD/Spike vs. Eddie/Regal match sums up tonight's RAW fairly well.  Overall, very entertaining with some excellent spots.  But, overall, all over the place.  I had trouble following exactly what went down, especially with regards to announced Backlash matches, and was actually hoping for some sort of recap where they'd run 'em down.  Maybe they're saving that for SmackDown! and Heat....

Storylines: B

Wrestling: C

Entertainment: B

Crowd: B-

ShAttitude (yeah, I made that up): F+

Yes, F+.  Where was the Shock?  Attitude?  Creativity?  Raunch?  Lawler's "Moses couldn't part Molly's legs" comment was pretty much it.  Sure, BROCK showed up.  But wasn't that obvious?  The PLUS is for the Paul E. vs. Lita's Thongs scene.  I admit, that was excellently done, and Lita looked VERY good, didn't she?  Maybe she had to cut down on the testosterone for her Dark Angel filming.

The good thing about this all was did you notice something?  NO RUN-INS and NO REF BUMPS.  Whoa!  That at least is a step in the right direction....

Match of the night: RVD/Spike vs. Eddie/Regal.  Four of the best workers in the game, great bumps, and although a little uneven flow, this sold the two championship PPV matches VERY well.  Too bad one of the belts should be on SD.  Did you SEE that move RVD did on Eddie, where he threw him in the air, THEN kicked him?  That may be worth the $35 itself.

Flop of the night: Booker/Goldust vs. Hardy Boyz.  Okay, I understand why they did this...  but does anyone think BROCK vs. Matt will be anything worth watching?  My guess is they make it a handicap match, so at least I know we'll see some sick Jeffbumps on Sunday.

As I was saying....

-- Line of the night, Booker T: "I'm gettin' too old for this shit."  I don't know if they're going anywhere with this, but I'd have no problem rooting on a face Booker and watching him kick Dustin's golden ass.

-- Planet Stasiak?  Okay, I admit, I liked it.  And Shawn even worked a good match vs. Big Show.  Well, all 1 minute of it.  I guess they're pushing Paul Wight finally, so I'll give 'em a mulligan if they successfully convert him from oversized jobber to serious threat.  Was hoping Mr. Perfect, WHO FOUGHT BIG SHOW LAST WEEK, would come out and make the save though.  Poof: instant tag team.  Oh, well.

-- Taker and Austin and Flair had a classic opening promo.  Very good stuff, and that's gonna be a hell of a match Sunday.  Too bad it won't be a hell in a cell (which is where I thought Flair was going).

-- Nash is suspended without pay and Austin is fined $5000?  Oh brother.  LAME.

-- X-Pac in Kane's mask is funny, I admit.  And I like the injury angle, 'cause my birthday is next Monday, and seeing X-Pac vs. Kane on a PPV is NOT NOT NOT a good present.  I'd rather get...  clothes (ick!).

-- Trish vs. Molly was easily second best match.

-- Bradshaw kicked ass...  but I think he was LOADED.  Did his promo make sense at all?  No, seriously, did it?

-- So here's the Backlash card, as far as I can tell:

Cross-promotional:

HHH vs. Hogan (Undisputed Title)

Jazz vs. Trish (Women's Title)

RAW:

Austin vs. Undertaker (Flair guest referee; Undisputed Title #1 Contender)

RVD vs. Eddie (Intercontinental Title)

Spike vs. Regal (European Title)

Bradshaw vs. Hall

BROCK LESNAR vs. Matt Hardy

SmackDown!:

Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven (Tag Titles)

Billy Kidman vs. Tajiri (Cruiserweight Title)

Kurt Angle vs. Edge

It's a little lop-sided (will two more SD matches be added?  And if so, what?  Jericho vs. who?  Rocky?  DDP/Bob Holly/Christian in a three-way Nobody Cares match?  Mark Henry vs. Test?  D-Von vs. Big Val?), and I can possibly see a Hardcore match being added w/Booker, Bubba, Goldust and Raven getting on TV, but that's a RAW match too.  What?!  Will be interested in seeing what happens tomorrow, 'cause while every match (thankfully) has a solid, somewhat interesting storyline behind it (think about it), the SD brand is very underrepresented, some big names are being left off, and the title situation...  well, you know how I feel about that....

-- Flair is losing control.  I like it.  He's more interesting when he seems to have lost his mind.

-- HHH was INTENSE-ly horrible-uh.  Make him a heel already.

On the front page of WWF.com you know how they have a picture from Raw with a link to the results? Usually the picture is of some importance from the show. Well anyway today the picture is of HHH coming out for his interview. The interview which he spent most of the time hyping a match with a Smackdown wrestler. mmmmm okay. The picture is INTENSE for all those curious.

Good point by Human Fly. I was gonna bring it up, but why the fuck was HHH spending a very large portion of the interview hyping his match against Hogan, a Smackdown wrestler, on Raw?

Although maybe I missed some comments about Austin/Taker; what with me switching between TNN and other random channels during the interview. Still, during the parts I saw I just felt indifferent about the entire situation.

So did the crowd.

Anyone want to argue that HHH is over enough to warrant the belt now?

I was nearly catatonic tonight because RAW sucked so much ass. Although I enjoyed the tag match with Eddy and RVD, I kinda felt that Eddy should have pinned RVD with the frog splash, especially since he spent his entire promo talking about how his splash was better then Van Dam's.

The crowd was indifferent because half didn't understand a damn thing.  Most of them were college guys drunk way before the show and the other half live up to the Aggie tradition of being not as smart as they appear.  Yes I have a problem with Texas A&M, and I'm not afraid to admit it

OK, well, I say that RAW was about average. The bad outweighed the good, but there was some good in there.

Question: Trish is the face because she is loose, and Molly is the heel because she is a virgin? What planet is this? I'm speechless on this.

I still don't enjoy Booker T as a wrestler, though that is do to me not liking his spots. I don't understand why he would say "I'm getting too old for this shit" when the WWF just rehired the nWo.

Goldust was rehired why? His entrance was always his coolest thing, and now they are fucking that up. He didn't even get showered with gold flakes.

Triple H officially kills any segment that he is in now.

RVD & Eddy will be good. Spike is still a joke however, and shouldn't have gold. Ever.

Paul Heyman is the master at all he does. As long as that doesn't involve writing checks.

Lita looked less strung out tonight, so that's a good thing. I'd hit it regardless.

Jim Ross still hasn't found the other side of his face. So, he decides to conduct in ring interviews now. Good choice

Brock does the same thing every show, yet people are saying he is amazing and on their favorite wrestler list and such. So far, he has done less than Goldberg. At least Goldberg debuted in a match.

X-pac isn't funny. Period. Mask? No. Chucks'? No. NWO? No. Getting in offense? Sad.

People always say that the WWF needs to push wrestler to make more main eventer, then when they try to push someone, everyone insults them. Well WWF, that is because you're stupid and attempt to push someone like Bradshaw.

Well, Raw was ok last week. Abyssmal this week. I have official quit watching Smackdown, as I have better things that I can do on Thursday now.

RAW > Smackdown for two weeks.. Smackdown would have to be pretty awful to be worse this week.

OKay Now I'm going to post MY thoughts on Raw(not that anyone cares):

The Show blew. The Rvd/Spike vs. Eddy/Regal tag match was really good and that's pretty much it for the postives...oh and i found the booker t/goldust skit funny.

RANDOM SHIT:

stasiak's promo was interesting but lead to him getting squashed so it meant nothing. Richads looked ripped. The Pal Heyman/lita stuff was disturbing but I got to watch a Hardy boy get killed so it was worth it. and uh that's pretty much all the somewhat interesting things on raw...craptastic show!

it was a lethal weapon joke. Goldust mentioned Lethal weapon in his little promo thang. and the "I'm getting too old for this shit" is a line from the Lethal weapons movies.

Can't do that, because you know at the PPV Eddy will hit is Frogsplash only to have Van Dam kick out at two, then of course, Van Dam will hit his and Eddy won't kick out. Then J.R. can have an orgasm over how the 5 star is more intense than the Latino Frog Splash or some shit like that.

Regarding Molly Holly: It has been intimated that she's had sex before, but hopefully that's the whole point. Molly can play one of those girls who we all know; the down-low slut who claims to be a virgin.

Regarding Jim Ross: "The NBA's AC Green" is retired and married now, so he's no longer a virgin and he's no longer in the NBA. Hick.

Regarding Triple H: Okay, he's got the Intensity down. Next week he'll work on Integrity, and after that, Intelligence.

Regarding Jerry Lawler and Paul Heyman: Why is Heyman a "sick human being" for lusting after Lita, but Lawler just needs to "calm down, tiger" when he lusts after every other woman on the roster? That's the problem with having your supposed heel announcer play a babyface.

I think the problem is heels and faces suck and are bringing down wrestling.
