Guest Report post Posted April 17, 2002 I just got the Sharklink for the N64 Gameshark, so you can put in codes on the computer,etc.. I'm running Windows XP, and when I first hooked it up and installed it, it didnt work. I realized the software was for Windows 95 or 98, so I tried it on my other machine, and it worked fine. So I came back down here, and I found the option in Properties to switch the Compatibility of the program to Windows 98. So the program works now, but it can't read the console. I'm thinking that's because I need to change the Parallel Port to be compatible with Windows 98, like I did with the software. So is that possible? Is that what I need to do, or is there something else? How can I fix it? Thanks.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 17, 2002 Parallel ports are universal. Any OS should be able to use them, from DOS and Windows 3.X all the way up thru XP. Besides, parallel port settings are changed in BIOS (and should be set to ECP for today's machines); the OS simply detects that a parallel port is installed and configured. Guest Report post Posted April 17, 2002 Ok, I had heard about those BIOS things, but I wasnt ready to tinker with them, without knowing what I was doing. My brother knows alot about more about computers then I do, but he's at college at the moment. So what would you think could be the problem then?
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 18, 2002 Considering I know exactly jackshit about the Sharlink you're using, I have no idea. Presuming the PC works normally to do other things, there has to be an issue with that particular product.
