"A Personal Shoot" feedback

Great article, although it was a little uncomfortable reading about this (in nice words) jackass' actions. I'm glad I never put one measly penny in the bastards pocket.

Now, saying he's worse than Rob Black might be true, but were you SERIOUS that he booked a RAW SEWAGE MATCH?! UGh! And I thought that porn problem was digusting.

One final question about Messiah. Did he have his thumb reattached (don't know if it would be possible) or does he just screwed for life with only 4 fingers on 1 hand.

The attackers took Messiah's thumb with them when they escaped, so he's got 4 fingers on one hand.

He's actually worked that into a gimmick in his matches where he'll pretend to poke someone in the eye with a "thumb" and they'll no-sell it.

As for the Raw Sewage match, it was promoted as being a raw sewage match but I think it was a glorified High Impact (scaffold) match. Rob Black was never known as a bastion of good taste.

As for why the article is so toned down:

1. I wanted to limit my potential legal fallout

and

2. Helmet talked me into deleting a particular section of the article that he felt would come off VERY badly because it would seem to belittle the victims of molestation. Let's just say it would have come after the reference to the "I just killed a federal agent and his family" bit.

Brandon, great article on this situation.

I also wish Id never sent my money to RobF, but then Id never have all my fancam copy of the ECW show I saw in '00. I spoke briefly with the guys at the tape stand at the show, they both seemed pretty cool....Rob, of course, was not one of those two.

I've only heard about this situation in the last coupel of days, and it disgusts me. Great article, I am also glad I didn't spend one red cent on any RF Video tapes.

I haven't read the article yet (although I will because I'm a huge Truitt mark), but the Raw Sewage match in question is on XPW's Liberty or Death DVD. I know because I rented it a couple weeks ago out of curiousity since I had never seen the fed.

The match is horrible, as is the majority of the DVD, but it's worth seeing for one certain crazy high spot which I won't spoil. Otherwise, it's people throwing each other in kiddie pools full of "sewage", which the announcers childishly refer to as "poo-poo" despite saying "shit" about 43 billion times throughout the rest of the show.

This was a good read, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to disagree with the point made.

Wrestling is a scummy business. It's a business based on lies and on deceit. There isn't a promoter that can say he has no blood on his hands, and most wrestlers can't really lay claim to that as well.

When we become wrestling fans, and especially when we become 'in the know' and discover the flip side of the business, there's a certain waving of morality that goes along with it. We know that wrestlers are prostituted until they're crippled, and then sent packing without a retirement plan, health insurance, pension and often times even a thank you. WWE is a company that once buried a national hero in front of his home country, ran a self-congratulatory television show live two days after 9/11 and put the world title on an olympic gold medalist in an attempt to profit from 9/11. It's a company that has used a convicted rapist as a special referee to garner a buyrate. It's a company that once aired a jobber match on WWF Superstars three days after the jobber died. It's a company that sent flowers to the funeral of a star who died in their ring with a huge company logo right in the middle, and even countersued the family for filing the lawsuit in the wrong state. It's a company that has blocked any attempt at unionization by the wrestlers ever made. The owner has been accused of everything from rape to selling and distributing steroids to his talent. One of the key members of his inner circle was part of a sex scandal in the early 90s where he supposedly put the moves on a ring boy. The owner has openly flaunted his own infidelity and even laughed about the sexual attraction he has toward his daughter sometimes. The company never had a black world champion until 1998 and television has featured women crawling around barking on all fours, a normal-sized woman being encouraged to be called a fatass by an impressionable crowd, urination on a road agent, real time ass kissing and a marriage that was the result of a wrestler slipping a mickey to the owner's daughter. Yet we still watch.

As consumers, we don't really know where our money is going. All we know is what we're getting, and that's really where our responsibility ends. Chances are very high that we've put money into dirty hands going to night clubs or casinos, or even shopping at Wal-Mart. Hell, it was proven some time back that every time you buy marijuana, you're indirectly funding terrorists! There was a commercial about it and everything. Most people laughed it off because they chose not believe it, but seriously, how many pot smokers are left on this board, or in all society for that matter? Are those of you wearing Nikes comfortable with the fact that they might have been made in a sweatshop in a third-world country? Seeing Rob fall is something many have wanted to see for a long time, and he's a disgusting individual, so rightfully so, but part of the reason it's getting so much attention is the joy many are finding in it.

Not supporting ROH punishes the wrong people. It punishes the workers, who now have even less options in a monopolized era. It punishes fans of good wrestling, who, if they stop spending their money, will have one less option as well. Since Rob Feinstein no longer even has any involvement with the company, it doesn't punish him at all.

Loss,

We've been friends for a long time and I respect you greatly.

However, I'm disgusted by some particular details of Rob's bust (the $70,000 Lexus and his $10,000 houseboy worker ex) and I'm not ready to believe ROH's claims that Rob is completely gone yet and will be unwilling to support them until they can have more proof than their word.

Since the RexPlex is demanding legal proof that Rob is 100% gone from the company, ROH will have to provide some documentation for the upcoming show to go on.

If someone can provide a copy of that documentation and it appears correct, I'll step off ROH. Something like this would be right up the alley of The Smoking Gun.

Loss and I were talking about this on AIM the other day and his opinion coincides with Chris Coey's.

I think what it really comes down to is personal choices. I choose not to support a company owned by a pedophile. Hell, I refused to buy ROH merchadise before this story because I thought Feinstein was a shitty tape dealer so I grabbed tapes of shoots and ROH shows through bootleggers. This just reconfirms my decision to not support his company.

Great read, as always Brandon. I think you echo the sentiments of more than a few wrestling fans.

Also, thanks to some 'net capabilities on his cell phone, Dames was able to read your article and gives it his highest praise, and wanted me to pass that on to you. He too thought it was an excellent read.

Rob Feinstein might be a sleazeball, but he's not even 1/10th of the sleazeball that Rob Black is.

Ya, I think hiring people to try and murder someone...or whatever the word is when chopping off body parts is worse than sleeping with kids.

But I think adults of young/early teens wouldn't care for RF much.

Sorry Loss...but this just isn't true.

The new "owner" of ROH, Doug Whateverthefuck (I can't recall his last name at the moment) is Rob Feinstein's roommate.

With the big scandal going on and considering RF made his LIVING off of RF Video and ROH, how do you think he's going to pay his rent?

Borrow money from his roommate?

While he might not be at the shows...bottom line is, the owner's coming home with all that cash...and you think RF isn't seeing a penny of it?

Perhaps, but are you comfortable giving your money to someone with the credentials of, say, Vince McMahon?
