The hhh vs. hogan match at backlash

Recommended Posts

Guest bps "The Truth" 21

Point #1:  Regardless of the fact that this run is bombing...can anyone honestly see HHH with a one month title run?

Point #2:  Considering how over he is right now...jobbing Hogan in his first 2 singles matches would be a bad idea...right?

So who wins?  Does HHH end this horrible face run and turn heel?

I think that Taker will win the #1 contenders match...and would prefer to see Hogan vs. Taker, than HHH vs.. Taker.

Plus...Jericho would get a shot at Hogans title...maybe it would even get a real long build into a ppv match at KOTR.  The seeds are already planted.

But what if HHH wins?  HHH vs. Taker = SHITTY.  And then what?  How long will HHH continue as a face?  How long will HHH hold the title?

Do you realize that HHH has only defended the title 1 time?  And in that match he pinned his girlfriend?

He won't lose in his second defense...will he?

Although many don't want to see Hogan with the title...is it a BAD business decision to put the belt on the most over guy in the company?  I say ride him for every penny you can get out of him.

And what about ratings?  Should they have any say on the title?

Raw has stayed steady at 4.8 for 3 weeks now...with the lesser roster.

Smackdown dropped almost a full point lat week.

Should a Raw wrestler be rewarded with the title?

Should Austin be getting more consideration?  Or Taker?  Or even RVD?

So...who wins?  How? Why?  and what do they do after they win?

Personally I would enjoy seeing Hogan have one last run as WWF champ, for nostalgia sake. I dont see it happening though. More likely I see a big heel turn to keep the title probably with NWO to form DNWOX with a returning HBK(maybe I'm dreaming...probably am). But i predict a heel turn either way, if he's smart.

If HHH wins he will likely face Taker as his next big opponent, In which case he should almost keep the title from the big man. Its a bit of a toss up cuz Taker has really been busting it lately and he might (big might here) a decent champion going into the summer wrestling rush.

If Hulkster beats all odds wins he could feasibly feud with either Austin of Taker, either way offers great storyline/feud possibility imo. The history between Hogan and Taker, or the other"dream match" between Austin and Hogan. Plus it would be a great sendoff for the Immortal one.

Personally i dont really care if the belt goes to a Raw guy or a Smackdown guy, as long as it makes sense for feuds and storylines on each show.

ya thats about what i figure...

I think HHH will win. I'm not sure if he'll turn heel but I'm betting Jericho will get involved somehow. Hogan will probably get one more run with the title, I just don't see it happening now. Although, sense would indicate that they should strike while the iron is hot with Hogan. This one is hard.

I hope that the NWO runs down and costs Hogan the match, as that would make the most sense and turn Triple H heel since he'll have a month in Flair's faction (probably against the Undertaker) and then, since Undertaker's heel run is lighting a fire under the fans assess either (but still getting a decent reaction like Triple H), they can turn Undertaker face.

As for the RAW roster, Vince sees it as more of his sports entertainment roster. He's got this legend heading it up who doesn't wrestler regularly, he's got this great talker who carried his company for three years, most of it being very limited in the ring. He also has the NWO and the Undertaker.

HHH needs more ring time. During his big title reign where everyone creamed over him, he was working more often it seemed. Now he just seems to come in, cut a promo, and leave. That's why he's not in ring shape; he has two more times a week to bust his ass and he doesn't.

Too early to decide if the run is bombing. Crowd reaction seemed to have bottomed out around WrestleMania.

Hogan needs to job, to anyone and everyone in big matches. He'll stay over as long as people have that nostalgic feeling of seeing him in the WWF. Wins and losses don't matter as much now. He's pretty impervious to that, just like the Rock was a long while back.

I think HHH will retain with the help of Jericho thus turning heel.  Hogan will have Jericho to feud with and HHH will have Taker or Austin (It looks like everyone expects Taker to win).  I definetly don't see either guy loosing clean.

I'd like to see Hogan continue the nostalgia tour with a different opponent at each ppv.  He had Rock, he's having HHH, next I think should be SCSA, followed by Undertaker, Y2J, Angle, and then a final retirement match against a returning from Hollywood to turn heel Rock.

I'm scared that a HHH heel turn will mark the return of Stephanie so although I'd like to see him back as a heel, I won't want it if it means Stephanie McScreech returns.

As far as the match, I'm pulling for Hogan just so HHH isn't on 2 shows.

I can see this becoming a problem for the WWF in the coming year.

I beleive that Hogan will end up with the belt eventually...and if that ends up being the case...now is the time.

If he's going to win it any way...it should be now.

But they'll wait until his overness starts declining.  Because that makes no sense.

I think that Hogan should job to at least HHH, The Rock, Austin and Undertaker, plus either Jericho, Angle, RVD and Benoit. Jericho looks like it will happen, Austin probably won't want it (though he may change his mind). Might as well do it while he's over; if they want to give these guys the rub.

see...I don't see what kind of rub he gives to those guys.

I mean...it took Rocks heat away and reduced ihm to being Hogan's little buddy.

If he were to go around putting over guys like Jericho, Benoit, RVD and others you wouldn't think he would...that may be something...but who knows.

Hogan's still a legend. Rock's going to credit for beating a legend. With the other four, it would be a huge push. I would definately give it to Jericho, with Angle being next. I think Angle deserves it because he's pretty much been in the mid-card. I still think if Rock turned heel or Hogan hadn't turned face it could have been treated as a huge career milestone.

With the lack of heat HHH is getting, I wouldn't be surprised if they put the title on Hogan, but I don't see them keeping it on Hogan for long either.

It would SHOCK the hell out of me, and the WWF COULD do this just to prove to all of us that they remember what has happened in the lat few months.

Hall and Xpac keep bragging about finally being able to get a peice of Hogan since they will be in the same arena finally on Sunday.  They make it known they have a settle to score with Hogan.

Hogan hears this and elects a special guest enforcer to keep watch for the nWo so he and HHH can fight without worry.

The PPV comes around, and HHH and Hogan go at it for a decent brawl.  By the way, Scott Steiener is brought in as the enforcer, getting a huge response.

nWo comes down, Steiner successfully disposes of them.

They find a way to sneak in the back toweards the end.  They beat down HHH, since he gets in the way first.  Steiner comes in and helps up Hogan, the four look face to face.  They proceed to kick Hunter's ass without getting DQid, and Steiner is drafted to Smackdown!

Therefore you have Hogan able to be on Raw and Smackdown as the champ, with Steiner on Smackdown to wreak havoc, and Hall and Pac on Raw to do the same.

The poison begins, and HHH will probably draw better face heat from the sympathetic crowd.  He may be able to get more over, and just not have the belt because he doesn't deserve it right now.

Just thinking, I have no idea what will go down.

If they were going to put a sympathetic spin on Triple H, they've already missed a ton of opportunities.

I still doubt they're signing Steiner.

I think we're better off having Triple H turn and waiting on Hogan's turn until his momentum is on the downward slide.

I hate to admit this, but Hogan winning is the best option right now. They should turn Trips heel (WITHOUT STEPHANIE)

and milk the nostalgia wave with Hogan vs. Undertaker. It would be a great full circle send-off for both guys and it would give Trips some more time to get back to his 2000 form without the pressure of remaining champ(read:more jobs, less promos). But since that makes sense, we'll probably not see it. It is a hard one to call.

Hogan winning the belt is NOT the best option. The best option is for fans to turn on the match ala Booker-Buff, forcing Vince to rethink the way he is doing business. Maybe, just maybe, we'll see neww stars coming out of this whole thing.

As for the match itself, NO ONE will be pinned. I t will be a shmozz ending allowing Trips to retain with Hogan getting the DQ win. Then Trips and Taker put on a snoozefest at Judgment Day while Hogan squashes Jericho. Just a prediction.

When it comes to Hogan putting over anyone, he'll probrably high tail it out of there. Heard that on observer live. Hogan has no desire to step down or put anyone over or move to the midcard. Sorry, goodhelmet, but I think the fans will give the 2 HHH's at least a good entrance pop. I disagree with bps on Hogan vs Taker. Even for nostalgia purposes, that would suck worse than HHH vs whoever IMO. Plus where is bps's conspiracy thoughtline of Hogan is just calling in his job card to Taker from survivor series'91?!?! Cause we didn't even get HHH vs taker like you had theorized with the whole job card stuff.

If a Jericho-Hogan feud does come out of this I have a feeling that Hogan won't lay down for Y2J. I'll be surprised if he'll lay down for HHH honestly. When the fans started going nuts for Hogan I bet it made things difficult for Hogan opponents. Now instead of putting Hogan on a job tour the fans are actually popping for him and the WWF can make money off of him winning matches. He'll get the title eventually, I agree with bps21 if he's going to win it might as well do it while he's over.

You are kidding yourself if you think that CANCER of the WWF, Triple H, is going into remission so soon.

The big title match eh? This is a political nightmare. At first I DREADED the idea with the belt on Hogan, but I think right now for the split to really work and create some SERIOUS heat on the title the belt should go to Hogan.

Hogan being on both shows, while the wwf superstars gun to destroy the man who built the wwf is a compelling storyline. Usually I like the workrate and championship storyline, but Triple H is boring me plain and simple.

BPS is right. Hogan/Taker could have some legit heat to it. Hulkamania vs. the Decade of Destruction. Who is indeed the most dominating enigma in wwf history. This has stronger marketing potential. Replace that with boring ol' Triple H?

Then Hogan vs. Jericho to see who is the true living legend. Then Hogan vs. Austin at KOR '93. Storyline being that is the event where Hulkamania died in 1993 and where Austin 3:16 and Attitude was born. Drop the title to Austin. Hogan back in Smackdown show faces or teams with Rock on ppv. Then face Angle at SummerSlam in a storyline that obviously writes itself.

Triple H? HA! I'm saying this and I'm a mark for the guy most times. He just sucks in this face role. Put some heat on the guy by putting him in the nWo and face HBK.

What will happen! A schmozz with Triple H retaining and continuing this boring ass title scene. Trips aint losing a month after Mania. I will be shocked if he loses on Sunday, but actually happy. Vince getting control of this boring Triple H and telling him to bring back the badass from 2000/2001.

What Triple H needs to do is join the nWo and start a storyline with HBK and build himself back up. Plain and simple.

There are three possible ways this match could go.

1. HHH wins by dq or screwjob thanks to a beatdOwN. no not Warrior. We then get Evil HHH versus Good Taker who will turn face solely by cutting rambling promos about beating the NwO. Hogan puts the squizash on Jericho. Austin does nothing.

2. HHH wins by Pedigree. Hogan falls victim to Jericho-ference, but no sells it completly. We then get HHH versus bad guy Taker, wrestlemania revenge style. Hogan puts the squizash on Jericho. Austin does nothing.

3. Hogan hulks up and pins HHH with three punches, a big boot, and a legdrop, in that order. Hogan then faces Taker in Ragin' Agin' 2002. HHH farts around trying to figure out how to turn heel. Austin does nothing. Jericho does nothing.

2 is the most likely. 3 will only happen if the mcmahon clan starts getting those "swerve = ratings" dreams again. eek.

I would say Jericho will interfere and cost Hogan the match, but HHH would have to turn for that...wouldn't he?

At least we don't know whats going to happen, which might put some interest in a dull match.

Face HHH vs Face Austin.

WWF will give Triple H one good chance to draw emotion and money into a feud as a babyface.

He will either turn heel in the process against the babyface Austin, or lose the title to Austin for failing his task and go into full heel mode.

no, not really. furHHHer would probably pull the old "i didn't see the interference, so i'm still a face" move. Then he would spend the next 3 weeks, on both shows, going "i didn't want it that way! not like that!" Then we'd get a HHH/Hogan vs. Jericho/Angle main event on smackdown. Bury-a-mania running wild!!!

on second thought, let's hope for the dq.

I don't think Hogan is going to job at 2 PPVs in a row. I look for Hogan to get the win (possibly due to Jericho's interference, leading towards another <shudder> Jericho/HHH match). Undertaker should win, to set up Hogan/UT as an ultimate Nostalgia match at Judgment Day.
