David Fincher is an awesome director. Fight Club, Se7en, The Game, Panic Room were all awesome movies. Fight CLub being the best in my opinion. I've already read about people saying he sold out for agreeing to do Mission:Impossible 3 but I'll wait until I see the final product. If the studio lets him do what he wants it will be awesome.

I don't know what to make of this, Fincher has directed some of my favorite movies(Fight Club,Se7en), but the first 2 MI movies did nothing for me. I remember watching MI1 years back and hating it, then within the last year watching MI2 and being bored by it. When it comes out I will likely give it a chance, even though Fincher is directing I won't have my hopes up completely.

Well alot depends on who will be starring in it. Fincher or not i won't see it if i don't like the actors at all.

Well, two good directors couldn't make anything out of MI 1 & 2, so maybe the third time will be the charm.

Unless the MI films are cursed for directors. :0

Well Brian Depalma is a hit and miss director so him failing on the first isn't that big of a surprise. He seems to make a good movie and then make two or three bad movies before another good one.

guys, fincher isn't an auteur.  he's a hack who happened to direct a really great piece of material that really spoke to the jaded members of generation x, & the auteur theory has gotten out of control to the point that anyone who makes a really good movie is suddenly called an auteur.  he can't really 'sell out', cause he was just a studio director in the first place.  anyone forget he did 'alien 3'?  this doesn't surprise me at all; fincher isn't someone with a burning desire to tell his own stories and change the world of filmmaking, he just wants to do his job well.  and he is good at it.  but he isn't one of the greatest working directors today (probably not even in the top 10), & he was never a very personal director to begin with.

Yes.

Ok, seriously, NOT EVERYONE CAN DIRECT PERFECT MOVIES EVERY SINGLE TIME.  Fincher has an incredible vision and he does one helluva job incorperating his vision onto film.  Even though Aliens 3 wasn't like the first 2... did you think a rookie director could make a movie that could carry the load Ridley Scott and James Cameron packed?  Of course not.  It just maybe a bias speaking, but he will be a great director someday.  I dunno... his movies just have something others don't.

I agree with C.H.U.D.  If I fell asleep during MI:2 (I've only fallen asleep during four other movies in my entire life) and it was durected by John Woo, there's no hope.

But by the way, though I haven't seen Panic Room yet, Fincher's not THAT great.  I mean Se7en is one of my all time favorite movies, but I didn't like The Game or even Fight Club [insert flames/WHAT?!'s (and not the Stone Cold kind) here] that much.  And it's hard to sell out when his first film was a "sell-out film", Alien 3.

I have enjoyed all of Fincher's films (yes, even Alien 3), but I wish he hadn't wimped out on the ending of The Game.

*spoiler alert*

Seriously, the ending of The Game ruined the entire movie. If he had jumped off that roof and actually died, it would have been amazing. But nooooo, North American audiences can't handle sad endings, so lets have an airbag for him to land on and a party waiting for him to boot. What a total sell out ending.
