WWF RAW - 2/4/02

Flair makes a few announcements from his office to start off RAW. Tonight, he’s booked Austin and Booker T together against the Dudleys in the main event, if Austin shows up. There’s also a very important Helms, Kidman, and Christopher Daniels match tonight for a cruiserweight title shot at No Way Out.

Hardcore Championship

Rob Van Dam vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Booker T runs down to the ring at about 4:20. RVD dodges a leg lariat, and starts hitting Booker T with forearms. He works him to the ropes and whips him across, hitting him with a spinning heel kick and sending him to the outside. DDP comes over and hooks on a diamond cutter on RVD, but RVD pushes him off. DDP lays in the jabs, blocking RVD’s shots, and gets him to the ropes. He whips him across and Booker hits RVD on the other side with the US title. DDP hits the diamond cutter for the pin at 5:13.

Daniels cuts a promo in the back with Coach. He rants on Kidman and Helms, and he says that at No Way Out he will defeat Tajiri for the cruiserweight title. And that’s the gospel according to the Fallen Angel.

#1 Contender’s for the Cruiserweight Championship

Shane Helms vs. Billy Kidman vs. Christopher Daniels

Shane Helms pins Daniels with the vertibreaker at 6:56. The lights go out and the strobe starts flashing as three figures lay a beating on Helms. The lights go back on with Helms left in a heap.

RVD walks into Flair’s office and demands a title re-match. Christian walks in and starts talking to Flair that security should be higher so they can keep out Edge too, and not just Austin. RVD interrupts and tells Christian he was talking first, and Christian tells him to stop his whining. RVD says he doesn’t want a shot at the hardcore title anymore, he wants a shot at the Intercontinental Title. Flair grants the match.

Lance Storm vs. Matt Hardy

Lance Storm wins at 8:25 when a Jeff interference backfires, hitting Matt and allowing Storm to roll him into a Maple Leaf for the submission.

Intercontinental Championship

Christian vs. Rob Van Dam

Edge runs down around 5:20 with a chair and slides it in the ring and distracts the ref. Christian picks it up, looks at Edge, and turns to hit RVD but gets a Van Daminator instead. Rob is on the top rope while Edge acts frustrated with the ref and walks off. The ref turns to RVD, and Edge hits the ropes crotching him. Edge slides in the ring and picks up the chair to hit Christian, but Regal runs in the ring and starts hitting Edge with some forearms. He tries a clothesline but Edge ducks and hits him with the chair. He hits Christian. He nails RVD while RVD is on the ropes, sending him to the outside. Edge bangs the chair against the ground. Hudson says he’s snapped. Refs are on their way to the ring, and Edge fights them off. He takes another whack at Regal and Christian. He throws RVD out onto the refs. He continues to fight them off. Security is being sent to the ring by Flair.

We return to see Edge still in the ring. Regal has been pulled out. Edge has grabbed Christian by the head and is yelling at him. Flair starts to come in but Edge turn and nails the rope. He yells at Flair to call everyone off and he’ll leave. Edge goes out and grabs a mic. He says that for months he’s been waiting to get this off his chest. He wants the intercontinental title. He wants Christian. But Christian’s been running from him. It’s time for him to stop running and face up to big brother. One match at WrestleMania, for the Intercontinental title, is all he’s asking for. One-on-one. Not a four-way. Not a three-way. Not a tag match. Christian can give his answer whenever he wants, whenever he’s thinking straight and conscious. Edge exits through the crowd with chair in hand.

Austin arrives in the back and marches straight over to Flairs office, bursting in while he’s talking with Arn Anderson. Austin tells Flair he’s here tonight, he’ll be at SmackDown, he’ll be here next week, and he’ll be at No Way Out to become the first WWF and WCW champion. And that’s the bottom line.

Test vs. Tazz

Tazz locks in an early Tazmission at about 1:10 but Test gets him to the ropes, so Tazz starts working over the knee. Test reverses a whip around 2:30, and makes a charge into the corner and hits a knee to the ribs. He does a second, and goes for a third but Tazz catches the leg and hits a dragon screw. Tazz dominates on the leg. Test battles, and reverses a whip, hits the big boot, but comes crashing down at about 4:30. Test gets up first and starts punching Tazz, but Tazz reverses a whip and locks in the tazmission. He kicks Test’s leg down, and then falls onto his back. Tazz grounds Test and forces him to submit at 5:12.

Backstage, Heyman gives a speech to the ECW locker room as Tazz returns from his match. He says that after No Way Out, ECW will finally have a chance to take down the biggest wrestling company in the world. Dreamer interrupts and takes Heyman aside, as the Dudleys get pumped for their match.

Raven rants backstage in a corner about how the WWF is in need of a change, and how he is going to be the one to instigate it.

Palumbo & O’Haire vs. Chavo and Eddie

Eddie hits the frog splash on O’Haire at 8:26 to end the match.

Booker T/Austin vs. Dudleys

D-Von pins Austin when Triple H interferes hitting Austin from behind, and pulling Booker T out of the ring at 12:07.

Cant complain about storylines but match detail NEEDS to be better.

Saying that, I give this show 9/10 but ONLY for development.

Whoa, I got feedback. Didn't expect that.

Anyways, I usually do matches like that unless we get into the pay per view stuff. If you search out my earlier work, you can see my style of writing and putting together matches (at least some of it, when I booked Angle/Shamrock/Austin at Royal Rumble, I was booking something totally different that turned out spectacular).

I hope people noticed but I'm really trying to give the mid-carders some identities, specifically the cruiserweights right now.
