Vern Gagne Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 The boys high school hockey tournament is this weekend. AA-Centennial vs Moorhead A-Breck vs Orono Girls Hoops 1 week and Boys 2 weeks NCAA Wrestling starts next weekend. Good Luck to Jake Volkman and Damion Hahn. NCAA Hockey starts in 2 weeks.
Vern Gagne Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 It's like I'm talking to myself. Breck beats Orono 7-2 Centennial beats Moorhead 1-0. The Centennial goalie had 3 straight shutouts. Guess I should ask if anyone follows any high school tourney's or other collegiate championships?
Guest ToddRoyal Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 I follow the NCAA Hockey tourney, as I'm a Maine student and fan. Not much to talk about the tourney right now though, as we're still in conference tourney time. BC is falling FAST though, so that could get interesting come seeding time. Concerned with the Hockey East Tourney right now, but I'm around for Frozen Four discussion once the big tourney starts.

Concerned with the Hockey East Tourney right now, but I'm around for Frozen Four discussion once the big tourney starts. Maine vs. UMass was one of the best college games ever. Didn't get decided until halfway through the third OT, and was as offensive of a 2-1 final as you could imagine. (and by offensive I mean full of offense, not offensive as in distasteful). Maine taking their regional is the only one that I'm confident in. I could see 3 of the 4 teams in both the Northeast and Midwest regions (sorry, Niagara and Notre Dame) and either Dakota or Denver winning the West. Frozen 4 > Final 4.
Chuck Woolery Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 I'm praying UNH can pull the upset, but after losing to UMass 5-2, I have almost no confidence in them. Here's to praying, though. Although, that's in Manchester. Home ice advantage (and tickets for me!), baby.
nl5xsk1 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 If UNH can beat Michigan, I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat BC. The Eagles played pretty poorly at the end of the year (like 1 win in their last 5 or 6 games, or something like that). As long as one of the local schools wins it, I'll be content.

The UND-Minnesota game was outstanding has well. Even made the highlights for SportsCenter.
nl5xsk1 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Bump ... Tonight's the night, first matchups begin in less than 12 hours. I'm guessing Maine, UNH, Minnesota and Dakota as the Frozen Four.
