WCW Monday Nitro (14/5/01)

 

Booker T was shown entering the arena, Vince Russo asked if he was ok.  Booker T said "Well i'm not....", Vince Russo interupted him and told him that he's booked in a match with Kevin Nash tonight for the World Title.

 

The WCW opening sequence was shown and Jonny Storm walked to the ring straight after it with the Best Of British trophy in his hand.  He said that last night it was a real honour to beat Jodie Flsesch and become the holder of the Best Of British trophy, he told Jodie Fleisch that he should just go back to the UK and Wrestle in Camp sites because that's all he's good for, he's not good enough to be a British WCW star - not while Jonny Storm is around.  Jodie Fleisch then walked out and told Jonny Storm that he got lucky last night, he got real lucky.  So tonight he challanged Jonny Storm to a rematch right now, Jonny Storm accepted.

 

Best Of British Rematch

Jodie Fleisch Vs Jonny Storm - No Contest (13:32) ****1/4

 

Doug Williams interfiered in the match and attacked both Wrestlers before getting a microphone and announcing that if any British Wrestlers in WCW deserve to be known as the best it's him, the anachist, he says that he's going to prove himself to be the Best Of British as soon as he gets a chance.  Robbie Brookside then walked out into the entryway.  He told Doug Williams that he must be dreaming because out of all of the British Wrestlers out here, he's the only one to have had a previous run in WCW.  He challanged Doug Williams to a match on WCW Saturday Night, Doug Williams accepted it.

 

Backstage The Steiner Brothers were talking to Mean Gene Okerland.  Scott Steiner said that he had the match won last night if Rick Steiner didn't screw up and if Ric Flair didn't destract him.  He said that he can't wait to get his hands on Ric Flair, but for the moment he want's Rick Steiner prove that he deserves to be a Steiner Brother and he's going to let him face Ric Flair tonight.  Rick Steiner says that Ric Flair had no reason to attack him last night and that tonight he's going to kick his ass.

 

Clips were shown from the WCW Cruiserweight Title Match last night as Psicosis walks down to the ring with the LWo for his first defence against the Dragon Kid.  Before the match the LWo announced, through their translator that they are expanding and over the next three weeks they are going to have a Membership Drive over the next few weeks to add new Wrestlers to their ranks.  They told any Latino Wrestlers that they are free to apply.

 

WCW Cruiserweight Title Match

Psicosis d. Dragon Kid (11:44) ***1/4

 

After the match the LWo attacked the Dragon Kid and threw a LWo T-Shirt over him.

 

Vince Russo was shown asking someone to send Eric Bischoff to his office.

 

Shane Douglas and Francine were interviewed by Gene Okerland, Shane talked about how he destroyed Sting last night he said that Sting was never the Franchise anyway, he said that he's been the Franchise since 1995 and that no-one could ever take that Title away from him.  Sting ran in and attacked him then said that he wants a rematch at Bash At The Beach.

 

Booker T was shown getting checked up on by a doctor.  JJ Dillon walked in and the Doctor asked if he could override Vince Russo's decision to have Booker T in a match tonight, JJ Dillon said that the match has already been booked so it has to happen.  The Doctor said that his injury was made much worse last night and that his career may be ended, Booker T told the doctor that this injury isn't going to keep him out of kicking some ass tonight.  The camera panned on JJ Dillon smiling.  Before going back to the ring where all of the LWo are, La Parka and Lizmark Jr are ready for their match with The Jung Dragons.  As The Jung Dragons walk out to the ring clips are shown of the end of their match with the Filthy Animals last night.

 

WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Title Match

The Latino World order d. The Jung Dragons (14:00) ***

 

After the match the LWo said through their translator that they are going to destroy the whole Cruiserweight Division in WCW.  The Filthy Animals walked out and Rey Misterio said that he was part of the original LWo even though he hated them.  He said that he's going to make it his job to destroy the current LWo by also making the Filthy Animals a Stable, he then challanged The LWo to a Title match at the Bash At The Beach.  The LWo confered for a while and said that they'd have to earn their shot by defeating two members of the LWo next week on Nitro.  The Filthy Animals agreed to that then Shane Helms music hit the speakers and he came out.  He said that he's been affected by the LWo when they screwed him out of his Title last night and he wants to help bring them down, he asks to join the Filthy Animals and the Filthy Animals agree to let him join.  He then turns to the ring and challanges Psicosis to a match at the Bash At The Beach.  La Parka says that he isn't getting a shot unless he earns it.  He says that if he can stay unbeaten up until Bash At The Beach then he can have a shot.  Shane Helms says that he can do that.  La Parka tells him that it's starting now with a match against Chavo Guerrero Jr.

 

Shane Helms d. Chavo Guerrero Jr. (6:04) 3/4*

 

Shane Helms won in a match were members of both the Filthy Animals and the LWo interfiered.  He won after La Parka inadvertantly nailed Chavo with the chair and Shane Helms then dropkicked the chair into La Parka's face and pinned Chavo Jr.

 

Clips were shown of the WCW Tag Team Title Match between RVD & Sabu against Palumbo & O'Haire.

 

Backstage Eric Bischoff walked into Vince Russo's office.  Vince Russo told him that last night he won the rights to become owner of WCW, this means that he has total control over the product and that Eric Bischoff has no right's to be in the building.  But Vince Russo is a reasonable man and he isn't going to brag or be a bad winner.  He said that he has fired Hulk Hogan and DDP but he offered Eric Bischoff a job as a janitor, Eric Bischoff said "No", he offered him a job on the Ring Crew, Eric Bischoff again said no.  He then said that Eric isn't being reasonable and asked Eric what he wants to do in the company.  Eric said that he wants a rematch one-on-one at the Bash, Vince Russo said that he is the owner, not a Wrestler.  Eric Bischoff said that he was cheated out of the match yesterday and that he deserves a rematch.  Vince Russo said that since he's a reasonable man he will allow Eric Bischoff to choose two Wrestlers from WCW and put them in a Tag Team match at the Bash At The Beach on the 14th of June at the Arrowhead Pond in California against The Outsiders!  If Eric Bischoff's team wins then he will get a match one on one with Vince Russo at WCW Summer Stampede, but if Russo's team wins then Eric Bischoff must becoem a Janitor is WCW.  Eric Bischoff thinks about it then agrees and chooses Hulk Hogan and DDP.  Russo says that they are fired from WCW and cannot compete.  Bischoff asks if they could just Wrestle one night only.  Vince Russo says ok, but tells Bischoff that if they lose then they must become members of the ring crew, Bischoff agrees.

 

Clips are shown from the 6-man elimination tag match for control of WCW followed by clips from Shane Douglas's match against Sting.

 

Dusty Rhodes walks out to the ring and gets a microphone.  He tells the fans that he doesn't understand what's going on with Dustin, all through Dustin's life he's tried to help him.  He's tought him how to Wrestle, he got him a job in WCW, he tried to help him pay off his debts, but last night Dustin left him to get beat up by Big Vito and Johnny The Bull.  He called for Dustin to come down to the ring.  Dustin's music started up and after 10 seconds he walked down to the ring in street clothes with Disco Inferno who was also in Street Clothes.  Dusty asked why he brought the Disco Inferno with him since this is family business and it should just be Dusty and Dustin.  Disco Inferno got a microphone and said that he's sick of everyone calling him he Disco Inferno, he's not the Disco Inferno he's Glen Gilbernetti.  The Disco Inferfno was something WCW told him to be and that he doesn't want to be any more!  Dusty Rhodes said that it doesn't matter what he's called he wants to know what's wrong with Dustin.  Dustin takes the microphone and pauses for a while looking down at the floor before saying "Dad, I know that you want to help me but.... (looks up at Dusty) keep the HELL out of MY life!" Dusty looks shocked as Dustin turns round and walks backstage with Glen Gilbernetti.

 

As Dustin Rhodes and Glen Gilbernetti walks backstage Tony Marinara, Big Vito and Johnny The Bull are waiting for them.  Tony Marinara tells Dustin that it was good to see him standing up to his father, Dustin says he doesn't want anything to do with them anymore.  Tony Marinara hands him some money and says "See that as a gift..." and they walked towards the ring.  Tony Marinara tells Dusty Rhodes that he must have heard what his son said and to go back home because he isn't needed here.  Dusty Rhodes walks out backstage and he pushes Tony Marinara as he walks past him.  Johnny The Bull and Big Vito go to attack him but Tony Marinara pulls them back and tells them they have something more important to do.  Tony Marinara says that they want a match with the WCW Tag Team Champions RVD & Sabu.  Tony Schiavonne comments that Big Vito and Johnny The Bull aren't in WCW to Wrestle.  RVD & Sabu walk out with Bill Alfonso who says that they'll take on any Challangers.

 

WCW Tag Team Title Match

Rob Van Dam & Sabu d. Big Vito & Jonny The Bull by DQ (3:55) 1/4*

 

After 2 minutes the Natural Born Thrillers run out to the ring and destroy RVD & Sabu, Sean O'Haire gives Bill Alfonso a Power Bomb when he gets in the ring and Mike Sanders hands Tony Marinara some money and thanks him before Vito, Bull & Marinara walk backstage.  Mike Sanders said that last night RVD & Sabu got a lucky win but they won't be getting any of those lucky wins anymore.  He said that the Natural Born Thrillers are going to make it there duty to destroy RVD & Sabu every week and that they are going to get that Title off them one way or the other.

 

Backstage Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were shown playing poker in Vince Russo's office.  Nash was drinking a beer while Hall was drinking a Root Beer.  Vince Russo walked in and told Nash that he had some good news, JJ Dillon just told him that last night Booker T's concussion was made much worse in his match with Scott Steiner.  He told Nash that it's almost a given that he'll get the win tonight!

 

Ric Flair d. Rick Steiner by Count Out (7:27) -**1/4

 

Ric Flair won by Count Out after Scott Steiner pulled Rick Steiner out of the ring.  Ric Flair said "Scott, Scott it's only a matter of time until someone comes out here and knocks some sense into you... in fact, next week how about I get a Tag Team partner and how about we take you on?".  Scott Steiner nodded as they walked backstage.

 

Shane Douglas stormed into Vince Russo's office and he complained to Vince Russo that he hasn't recieved any respect since he became "The Franchise" of WCW.  He said that Sting recieved loads of respect but he hasn't recieved any.  Vince Russo said that he's going to make sure that he revieves respect, plenty of respect from tonight onwards.  He said that he's going to Main Event the first ever Saturday Night on Fox against a man with plenty of respect, half of the Tag Team Champions, Rob Van Dam!!

 

Backstage Booker T was shown warming up for his match tonight.  His doctor said that he can't give him medical clearance to Wrestle tonight, Booker T said that he doesn't need medical clearance because all he's going to do iso go out there and kick some ass then come backstage.  The Doctor tried to stop him getting past but Booker T walked straight past him saying that he's not going to let some little injury stop him from kicking some ass.

 

Cips were shown of Booker T's World/US Title defence against against Scott Steiner.

 

WCW Unified World/United States Title Match

Booker T d. Kevin Nash (9:23) -1/2*

 

Booker T won after Scott Hall interfiered and Ric Flair once again came to Booker T's aid and pulled Scott Hall out of the ring.  Booker T got back up to his feet as Kevin Nash tried to go after Ric Flair, he pulled Kevin Nash round and Nash went to punch him, Booker T ducked and give him the Book End for the win.  The referee checked on Booker T after the match who was rolling around holding his head.  He called for some medical help as the show went off the air.

 

WCW Saturday Night (19/5/01)

 

The WCW Saturday Night opening sequence was shown and it was followed by Tony Schiavonne introducing us to the show.  He said that tonight we will have a match between Robbie Brookside and Doug Williams and that we may get an update on Booker T's concussion.  Clips were shown after the Monday Nitro of Booker T getting stretchered out of the arena.

 

Backstage Dustin Rhodes and Glen Gilbernetti asked Vince Russo to give them a match tonight.  Vince Russo said that he'll put them in a match with two men who haven't been on TV for a while.

 

WCW Cruiserweight Title Match

Psicosis d. Jami San (13:06) **1/2

 

Robbie Brookside was interviewed backstage by Gene Okerland, he said that since he was signed by WCW they haven't given him a chance to prove himself on TV shows, he said that when he seen Jonny Storm and Jodie Fleisch showing their skills and fighting over who was the "Best Of Britain" he got exited and thought "it's time for me to prove that I deserve to be in WCW".  He said that although he has respect for Jodie & Jonny, he has no respect for Doug Williams and he's not going to let The Anarchist become the best of Britain.

 

La Parka and Lizmark Jr from the LWo walked out with their translator and told the fans that they are going to introduce a new member into the LWo on Monday Night!  They then called out any team that want to try and take their Titles off them to come down to the ring.

 

WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Title Match

The Latino World order d. Kid Kash & Lash LaRoux (12:46) *1/2

 

Backstage Doug Williams waqs interviewed by Pamela Paulshock.  He said that he deserves to be the Best Of Britain simply because during his career he has always been the best British Wrestler around.  He's always been the Anarchist, the man who no-one could beat.  He said that tonight Robbie Brookside has to bring his game with him because if he doesn't then he's going to get his ass kicked.

 

Dustin Rhodes & Glen Gilbernetti walked down to the ring dressed in all black.  Glen was introduced as the Disco Inferno and he grabbed the microphone off the ring announcer Dave Penzer and had a fit about how he's no longer called the Disco Inferno, he's now Glen Gilbernetti and he want's to be called Glen Gilbernetti!!  Some music hit the speakers and The Sullivan Brothers Kevin Sullivan and Dave Sullivan ran down to the ring to make their return to WCW!

Dustin Rhodes and Glen Gildbernetti celebrated after the match and then walked backstage, Dustin held up 1 finger to the camera as they walked backstage Tony Schiavonne wondered what it signified.

 

Shane Douglas was interviewed with Gene Okerland, he said that tonight he is going to show the fans that he is the Franchise, no matter what Sting thinks.  Sting lost the match and he should get over it, he's a has-been - Shane Douglas is the future.

 

The Filthy Animals walked into the arena and went face to face with WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions La Parka and Lizmark Jr with their translator.  La Parka said (through the translator) that Rey and Kidman better be ready for Monday Night and that Shane Helms has a match next, if he loses it then he won't get his shot at The Bash At The Beach.

 

Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Bill Alfornso were in a Locker Room.  Bill Alfonso told Rob Van Dam that it should be one of the biggest matches in his career, he is going to main event the first ever WCW Saturday Night Main Event.

 

Shane Helms d. Reckless Youth (14:12) ***

 

Backstage Bill Alfonso was interviewed with RVD and Sabu.  Bill Alfonso said that Rob Van Dam is going to prove why he is one of the greatest Wrestlers in the World today.  Shane Douglas can talk about being a Franchise all he wants, the Future of the business is right here!

 

Doug Williams d. Robbie Brookside (12:41) ****1/4

 

Doug Williams won after a chair shot and putting his feet on the ropes when he pinned.

 

Rob Van Dam was shown walking to the ring.  Bill Alfonso told him to stay focused and make sure that he gets the win.

 

Shane Douglas was shown walking towards the ring with Francine.

Shane Douglas won after Francine handed him a chain which he wrapped around his hand and hit Rob Van Dam with.

Great that there is another show to showcase the talent you have on your books.

 

The Sullivan Brothers? Why?

 

I'm liking the whole Dustin Rhodes and 'Disco Inferno' pairing, Disco finally getting a storyline that he can get his teeth into. Are they Heels or Faces?

 

All the feuds are being extended, which I think is important to solidify these feuds (especially the Shane Douglas/Sting encounter that failed in it's build up in my opinion for last PPV.

 

I like Shane Helms inclusion into the Filthy Animals, helps him get away from his Three Count persona. (I called that aswell:) )

Another good show. My only criticism is that I'd tone down the use of so many British guys (who will be unknown), especially all at once. I'd have let Fleisch and Storm feud a little longer before bringing in more.

WCW Nitro (21/5/01)

 

Before the Nitro opening was shown Tony Schiavonne announced that tonight Ric Flair and a Mystery Partner will face The Steiner Brothers and we will get an update on Booker T's condition.  The Nitro opening sequence was shown followed by Eric Bischoff backstage talking on his cell phone to Hulk Hogan.  He told Hulk Hogan that Vince Russo won't let him into the arenas until the Bash At The Beach and that he has to be patient because at the Bash he's got the chance to kick the Outsiders asses.  He hung up on the phone and turned round... DDP was stood behind him, Bischoff told DDP that he wasn't supposed to be in the arena.  DDP said that he didn't care and that he wanted a match with one of the Outsiders tonight.

 

Jodie Fleisch came out to the ring and said that he was unlucky to lose the match at the Great American Bash, and he said that he deserved to win the Best Of British Trophy.  He want's to prove tonight that he deserves it more than any other British Wrestler and that's why he's calling any of them out right now.  Doug Williams walked out and told Jodie Fleisch that he had his shot and he blew it, he lost to Jonny Storm and he doesn't deserve another chance.  He said that when the Anarchist is done with him he'll have proved beyond any doubt that he is the only man who deserves to be the Best Of Britain.

 

Jodie Fleisch drew with Doug Williams via a Double Count Out (10:21) ***1/2

 

Jonny Storm ran out and taunted Jodie Fleisch in the entryway causing Jodie Fleisch to run after him, Robbie Brookside then ran into the ring ad attacked Doug Williams then they brawled out of the ring and to the back.

 

Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Vince Russo were in their office drinking as Eric Bischoff walked in.  Kevin Nash and Scott Hall stood between Bischoff and Russo to protect Russo.  Eric Bischoff said that he didn't want any trouble, he just wanted to ask if DDP could have a match against either Nash or Hall tonight.  Vince Russo said "no" and Bischoff tried to tell Russo that the match needs to happen, Russo told Nash & Hall to get rid of Bischoff and Nash picked him up and threw him out of the door.  Vince Russo then told him to "knock before you enter my office."

 

The Filthy Animals walked out for their match with an LWo Tag Team.  The LWo walked out and introduced one Tag Team Partner as Juventud Guerrera, and the other one as..... Mosco De La Merced!!

 

Number One Contenders Match for the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles

The Filthy Animals (w/Torrie Wilson) Vs The LWo (Mosco & Juvi)

 

The LWo interfiered a lot of times in this match up trying to cost the Filthy Animals the macth, but the LWo couldn't pin Rey & Kidman.  In the end Shane Helms and apparant "new" member Konnan tryed to help the Filthy Animals overcome the interfierence.  As the referee was distracted trying to send other members of the LWo and the Filthy Animals backstage La Parka got in the ring with a chair and went to hit Rey Jr with it but he ducked and La Parka accidently hit Mosco De La Merced.  Rey Jr kicked La Parka and took the chair off him then he hit La Parka with the Chair sending him over the top rope.  Rey Jr turned round just as the referee turned round and seen him with the chair then he seen Mosco De La Merced on the floor and called for the DQ against the Filthy Animals.

 

Winners: The Latino World order by DQ (13:47) **1/4

 

The Filthy Animals complained to he referee about the decision and the LWo walked bacskstage then La Parka told Shane Helms (via the Translator) that he would face Elix Skipper right now.

 

Shane Helms (w/Torrie Wilson) d. Elix Skipper (4:38) **1/4

 

The LWo stayed backstage for this match as Shane Helms comprihensivly got the win.

 

Backstage Eric Bischoff tells DDP that The Outsiders turned down the challange.  He says that DDP might be able to get a match next week.  DDP looks angry and he walked past Eric Bischoff.

 

Glen Gilbernetti was interviewed by Pamela Paulshock.  She accidentally called him "Disco Inferno" as she started the interview and Glen made a speech about how he's no longer the Disco Inferno and that he always hated being the Disco Inferno.  He told her that if anyone called him the Disco Inferno again then they were going to get their asses kicked.  Dave Sullivan walked over to Glen Gilbernetti and said, "Hey Disco, you up for some dancing tonight?  Are you going to hit the music and start some 'Disco Fever'?  You know, you're nothing more than a 70's throwback and you are STILL the Disco Inferno... even if you won't admit it.".  Glen Gilbernetti started punching Dave Sullivan and he hit his Bodyslammed him on the floor!  He told Dave Sullivan that he'll see him in the ring then walked off.

 

The LWo were leaving the arena but they were stopped on the way out when The Filthy Animals blocked the exit and they told the LWo that they are still going to get a shot at the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles at the Bash At The Beach.  The LWo said (through their translator) that they lost the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Title Contenders Match so they won't be getting any Title Match at Bash At The Beach.  Billy Kidman said that he'll find a way and that the match will definatly happen.

 

Glen Gilbernetti d. Dave Sullivan (4:46) DUD

 

Glen Gilbernetti destroyed Dave Sullivan and took the win with the Gilbernetti Crusher.  After the match he continued to beat down on Dave Sullivan saying "You think you're funny do you?  You think you're funny?" until Kevin Sullivan ran out and Glen Gilbernetti made a run through the crowd.

 

DDP burst into Russo's office and demanded a match with Kevin Nash or Scott Hall tonight.  Russo told DDP that he was banned from the arena until BAB, DDP said that he din't care and he demanded a match.  Russo laughed and said "Fine, next week... on Nitro.... you'll take on both of the Outsiders by yourself!!"  DDP smiled and said "Sure, i'll kick both of their asses on my own...", and he walked out.  Nash & Hall started laughing and they told Russo that they's make sure that DDP won't make it to BAB!

 

The cameras went to Booker T's locker room where Booker T was sat holding his head and a doctor was telling him that there is no way that he can Wrestle tonight.  He's got lucky the last few weeks and if he takes a break now then he might be able to Wrestle at the Bash At The Beach.  Booker T said that he wants to be Ric Flair's Tag Team Partner tonight so that he can get revenge on the man that caused the concussion - Scott Steiner.  The Doctor told Booker T that Scott Steiner isn't a man that Booker T should get in the ring with with his concussion.

 

Dusty Rhodes walked out to the ring and he told the fans that the last few weeks have been very hard for him.  Firstly he finds out that his son is in debt and "a mob" are going after him, then his son won't accept any of his help.  Then at the Great American Bash his son leaves him to get beat up by Big Vito and Johnny The Bull, then Dustin tells him that he wants him to stay out of his life.  He says that he can't stay out of his son's life.  He cares to much about Dustin to just walk away from his life, Dustin is too important to him.  He tells Dustin that he wants him to come out here to sort things out.  Instead Johnny The Bull, Tony Marinara and Big Vito walk out.  Tony Marinara said sarcastically that it's so touching to see how much Dusty Rhodes cares for his son, he says that Dusty really is a role model for the younger generation.  Tony Marinara, Big Vito and Johnny The Bull then burst into laughter and tell Dusty that Dustin doesn't need his help, that Dustin doesn't want his help and that Dustin couldn't care less how much Dusty cares for him.  He tells Dusty that he should go home and eat himself into retirement because that's all he's good for!!!  Dusty says that if that's what "The Mamalukes" really think then they should come down to the ring and say it to his face.  Tony Marinara says that they should make it an impromptu match and Dusty agree's to it.

 

Big Vito/Johnny The Bull (w/Tony Marinara) d. Dusty Rhodes (7:47) -*3/4

 

Dusty fouht them off early on but in the end interfierence from Dustin Rhodes give the match to Vito and The Bull.  Dustin got on the mic and said that he didn't want to have to attack his dad but as long as Dusty keeps turning up to Nitro and getting in his business then he's going to have to continue doing it.

 

DDP walked up to Eric Bischoff and said that he's got a match with the Outsiders next week.  Bischoff went crazy and told him that he can't face them in a handicap match.  DDP said that he has a plan.

 

Shane Douglas walked into the arena and Gene Okerland walked over to ask him some questions.  He started by asking whether he's put any thought to Sting's request for a shot to become the "Franchise" of WCW again at Bash At The Beach.  Shane Douglas said that there is only room for one Franchise in WCW and that Franchise is Shane Douglas.  Sting had his run as the Franchise, but now he's dropped that "Title" to Shane Douglas, who was the "Franchise" ever since the first time he stood in the ring.  Shane Douglas said that in the next match, he will go one-on-one with anyone - other than Sting - who see's themselves as a "Franchise".

 

Booker T went to Ric Flair and asked if he could be his Tag Team partner tonight.  Ric Flair said that he is concerned for Booker T's safety and he doesn't want to put his career at risk tonight.  Booker T said that his career won't be at risk. plus he needs to get involved in this match to get revenge on Scott Steiner and to help out Ric Flair.  Ric Flair said that as long as Booker T is sure that he'll be safe then he can be his Tag Team partner.

 

Bill Alfonso was in RVD & Sabu's locker room and he told them that he will try and make sure that The NBT don't get involved in tonight's match with Japanese stars Jado and Gedo.

 

Shane Douglas and Francine walked out to the ring and told the fans that as the Franchise of WCW he has to put that "Title" on the line sometimes.  He said that tonight he will put the "Title" on the line against any contender, other than Sting.  Diamond Dallas Page's music then hit the speakers and he walked out.  He said that since he's the People's Champion, he deserves a shot.  Shane Douglas agreed to it but Vince Russo walked out and told DDP that he is suspended from the arena until next week and he cannot fight this match.  DDP started to argue but then Sting came down from the rafters decked out in his crow outfit behind Shane Douglas with a baseball bat.  Vince Russo quickly told Shane Douglas to watch out as Sting nailed Shane Douglas with the baseball bat.  Sting then walked out of the ring and left through the crowd.

 

Backstage Mike Sanders was talking to the NBT, he said that RVD & Sabu are trying to dodge them by going up against some "Japanese Stars" and not taking on the NBT.  He said that they are going to make sure that they have a second shot at Bash At The Beach.

 

WCW Tag Team Title Match

RVD & Sabu d. Jado & Gedo (13:23) *3/4

 

The NBT walked out near the end of the match to destract RVD & Sabu they stood and watched the match.  Afterwards Mike Sanders got on the mic and demanded that the Perfect Event get a shot at the Tag Team Titles at Bash At The Beach.  Bill Alfonso said that RVD & Sabu have beat every team the NBT has to offer and the outcome will be no different if they had a match at BAB.  Mike Sanders said that RVD & Sabu were dodging the NBT, RVD grabbed the mic and challanged Mike Sanders to a match on Saturday Night.  Mike Sanders accepted on the lines that if Sanders win the The Perfect Event would get a shot at Bash At The Beach.  RVD agreed to it.

 

The Steiner Brothers were interviewed by Gene Okerland.  Scott Steiner said that Booker T will regret being part of the match tonight and he'll get revenge on Ric Flair for costing him the win at the Great American Bash.

 

The Steiner Brothers d. Booker T & Ric Flair (10:20) *3/4

 

The match was a back and forth affair with both sides having the advantage at different points.  Rick Steiner won the match for the Steiner Brothers by pinning Booker T when Ric Flair and Scott Steiner took the match to the outside.  The Referee tried to get them back to their corners when Jeff Jarret climbed from under the ring and nailed Booker T with the Guitar.  After the pin was made Ric Flair checked on Booker T who looked much worse than he did last week.  Jeff Jarret, Scott Steiner & Rick Steiner celebrated as they walked backstage.

I don't see the point in having the Sullivan Brothers at all in the Federation, well not in a wrestling capacity. But I suppose it's giving Disco some wins to his arsenal.

 

I like that you are doing something with Disco as i've always thought he was an underated performer.

 

Nice to see Konnan join up with his old partners as well.

WCW Saturday Night (26/5/01)

 

The WCW Saturday night opening sequence was shown and clips were shown from Nitro's main event between Booker T and Ric Flair.  Tony Schiavonne said that on Monday Night Jeff Jarrett was going to explain his actions attacking Booker T on Monday Night.  Scott Hudson then told Tony Schiavonne that he conducted an interview with Booker T on Thursday which will also be aired on Monday Night.  Tony Schiavonne then hyped up tonight's main event between Rob Van Dam and Mike Sanders announcing that if Mike Sanders wins then The Perfect Event will get a shot at the WCW Tag Team Titles at Bash At The Beach.

 

Jado & Gedo d. The Young Lions (17:41) **1/4

 

Dustin Rhodes was interviewed by Gene Okerland.  Gene asked why Dustin attacked his father on Monday Night.  Dustin said that everyone thinks that he's the bad guy and they think that he's being ungratful for his fathers help.  Dustin said that wasn't the case, he said that all he wants is for Dusty to stay out of his business.  Gene Okerland said that Dusty is scheduled to be at Nitro on Monday Night which is in Texas, Dustin says that if his father turns up then he'll have a lot to say to him.

 

Pamela Paulshock caught up with Jonny Storm, he asked what he thought about JJ Dillon booking him in a match with Robbie Brookside tonight.  Jonny Storm said that Robbie Brookside doesn't deserve the shot, but since the match has been made he's going to show the fans that he really is the best of Britain.

 

Tony Schiavonne talked about Shane Helms upcoming match with Shannon Moore, he explained that Shane Helms must win every single match that he fights on his way to the Bash At The Beach to get a shot at Psicosis's Cruiserweight Title.

The Filthy Animals were getting interviewed by Gene Okerland, Gene asked whether they thought that they could overcome the LWo.  Billy Kidman said that the LWo have been trying to outsmart them, but mind games don't work against the Filthy Animals and after the Bash At The Beach the Filthy Animals will take over the WCW Cruiserweight Division.  Shane Helms went to celebrate with the Filthy Animals, Shane Helms said that he was going to become the Cruiserweight Champion at Bash At The Beach just like Kidman and Rey Rey were going to become the Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions and he high fived all of the Filthy Animals.  Psicosis, La Parka, Lizmark Jr and the LWo translator walked over with the WCW Cruiserweight Title and the Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles and they said that Shane Helms has been getting lucky with his wins lately but Monday Night will be the end to it because Shane Helms will face Billy Kidman.  The Filthy Animals laughed and Shane Helms high fived Kidman.   La Parka said that if Shane Helms won then he could continue his run towards his Cruiserweight Title shot but if Kidman won then Rey & Kidman could get their shots at the Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles, the LWo walked off and Kidman and Shane Helms looked at each other, Konnan said "Come on" and they walked off.

 

Shannon Moore walked into the 3 Count locker room.  Shannon Moore said that something's been going wrong with 3 Count.  Evan said that they used to be one of the greatest Pop Bands and Tag Teams in Wrestling History and now they aren't even taken seriously by WCW Management.  Shannon Moore said that maybe they should look for a new third member so they can get to work on their new album, Evan said that he liked that idea.

 

WCW Cruiserweight Title Match

Psicosis d. Yang (12:08) **1/2

 

Rob Van Dam and Bill Alfonso were interviewed.  Bill Alfonso said that Rob Van Dam wanted this match because Mike Sanders has been trying to sabotage Sabu & Rob Van Dam's Tag Team Title run and he wants to prove that he can beat any members of the NBT.

 

The Filthy Animals were backstage, Shane Helms and Billy Kidman were arguing and Konnon broke it up.  He said that they have to do what's best for the group, Rey said that Kidman and himself had been in the group longer and they deserve their Title shot.  Shane Helms said that he needs to win his WCW Cruiserweight Title back and he says that it might be his only shot.  Kidman said that Shane Helms might win that match and then lose his next match meaning that neither of them would get a shot.  Shane Helms said that he's not giving up his chance to anyone.

 

Mike Sanders told the Perfect Event that he's going to win them their shot tonight.

 

Best Of British Match

Jonny Storm d. Robbie Brookside (13:30) ****

 

In a back and forth match Jonny Storm won after interfierence from Doug Williams.  After the match Jonny Storm shook hands with Doug Williams but Doug Williams short-arm clotheslined him and said that the only reason he helped him out tonight was because he wants a shot at the Best Of British Title.

 

Mike Sanders d. Rob Van Dam by Count Out (12:38) *3/4

 

Rob Van Dam controlled most of the match but Mike Sanders kept trying to take the match to the outside.  When he finally managed to do that he tried to run away from Rob Van Dam giving Chuck Palumbo the chance to lay him out with 3 devestating Chair Shots giving Mike Sanders the chance to get in the ring and win by Count Out.
