Guest Report post Posted April 18, 2002 Here are various things that came from him.... -Steve Blackman does not suck and he is the greatest hardcore champion ever(is that a compliment?) -The hardcore title is the best in the WWF -He refused to believe that Hall/Bradshaw is a match and that Kane won't be wrestling at Backlash because of a bicep injury...he even offered a $20 bet that he'll wrestle there-I hope he is serious -More on Steve Blackman...according to him, Haku could not possibly kick Blackman's ass in a real fight, in response to my saying that Haku would kill Blackman -Hogan/HHH will be a good match(I think that's common, though) -Edge is not only much better than Christian, but Edge carried their tag team(he's entitled to his opinion on the first even though I highly disagree, but the second part is so ridiculous) -He refuses to believe that Hogan ever used politics. -Tajiri is gay... he said this when we were naming our favorites Here's my fav. -Blackman is better than Angle(jeez, a Blackman mark...do those exist?) Guest Special K Report post Posted April 18, 2002 Yeah, I actually enjoyed Blackman as hardcore champ, though it was sort of in the 'lovable dork' vein for me. "IT'S PARTY TIME" actually got pops. also I'll always remember that submission he used... half crab with a strap held over his shoulder to choke the opponent. Plus I mark for kendo sticks. But hell, my roommate and li'l brother are big marks and they mark out for Angle's goofiness and wrestling like mad, and are always loving Tajiri's kicks. (Course i prepped them with the ultimate slaughtering by Tajiri... vs. Corino @ HH 2000). Anyway, as I've said a million times, Hogan should have put off the red and yellow till the end, cause his pops while still pretty strong, are noticably fading. To each his own, I guess), when I let slip that I was going to a wrestling school myself. Here's something for you to chew on: At WM last year when I watched the PPV with a bunch of friends from work at Hooters, I was bombarded with stuff like "Taker RULES!" and "Angle SUCKS!". I never said a single word on how I felt about Taker at that time and just let them go on and have some fun. Later on, I was asked who my favorite wrestlers were and I named Benoit and Angle among them. I got mocked in a heartbeat because, "Angle's NOTHING compared to Taker!" and "Benoit sucks because he was a WCW guy". I kept my mouth shut the entire time and let them go at it. The next PPV, I endured more of the same until I had had enough and shot back and told them all what I really felt about Taker and Kane and they left me alone. Bottom line: Opinions, no matter HOW valid, will always get mocked or made fun of because that's life and trying to be a champion for all unknowledgeable marks everywhere isn't going to help jackshit. Here's a simple question: Why do people get so pissy just because someone on an internet messageboard makes fun of a couple of people they know in real life? Like they REALLY give a shit about what was said on here. And ANOTHER question: What does growing up, girlfriends, making a living, and sex have to do with the smart mark/average mark debate? I know people who do/have all of those things and they are some of the most immature fuckwads I've ever met. And calling everyone who disagrees with you "Scott Keith zombies" was REAL mature, man. Not everyone agrees with what Keith, or any other internet personality, says. Now you are just generalizing everyone on this board to fit your own rose-colored views. During the Invasion storyline, this kid hated Austin with a passion. I distinctly remember when I asked him what he thinks of Austin now (around February), he said something like "Man Stone Cold is the greatest ever! What?!". I started laughing so hard. I watched his best of seven series with Booker T and just got quite righteously pissed off that Benoit didn't win. Why? I was angry b/c Booker T had the TV title before all of that. Benoit didn't rate? Damn, I was pissed b/c the two people that got title reigns out of that were Booker T and FIT FINLEY, not Benoit. Beyond that, I like Blackman because I'm a martial artist myself. The fact that the man made his escrima sticks (that pair of shorter sticks he used) move so fast and pulled them enough to keep from killing anyone. That's damn hard. The man impressed me, that's that. Keith sheep? Meltzer? Just because you tend to like a writer's style? Or share similar opinions? Or we agree about things they say because we never really considered it? Okay, that's like saying someone's a Cusack sheep because you liked Grosse Point Blank or High Fidelity. Okay, maybe not the greatest example, but you get the idea. The anti-smark thing isn't new, it isn't clever, it's just annoying as hell and it's basically making broadbrush comments about a group you simply don't like. I KNOW that Benoit is a better wrestler than Rock and i enjoy his matches but for whatever reason i never became a Benoit fan. Saying Benoit is a better wrestler than the Rock is like saying the Yankees are better than the Expos it's a FACT. But that doesnt mean im a sheep or im stupid because I'm not a Benoit fan. I guess it comes down to people's tastes. Wrestling is is a type of entertainment. If someone finds Test or Nash entertaining than so be it. If someone likes Benoit and Lance Storm.
