Guest Report post Posted April 18, 2002 I was thinking about this earlier... give me your opinon. Since they are thinking of using Arn as the mouthpiece for Benoit and since they have shown Arn quite a few times on RAW and Flair has referred to/talked to him many times, it would kindof make no sense (assuming the WWF decides to use sense) to have him just show up on Smackdown. My plan would be this, keep having Austin stun/beat the hell out of Flair if that is the direction they are going in. Flair keeps holding back saying not to put his hands on him yada yada consequenses blah blah. At Backlash I would have Benoit run down and cost Austin the match (yes I know that means we would have to suffer through possilby Hogan vs UT if the cards fall that way) and then proceed to suplex the hell out of him, with Flair coming down and saying he told him NOT to touch him. Next night on RAW, Flair explains that he traded the Undertaker to Smackdown for Benoit. Vince would agree to this because he would get the Undertaker and possibly the next champion because UT would be exlusive to Smackdown. Because for storyline purposes we can say that the reason for the neck injury was from Austin during the 3-way match. Arn can cut the promo for Benoit. This to me would setup quite a few good matches. The way I look at it is I expect HHH to be a RAW property when he drops the belt. This would give RAW HHH, Austin, and Benoit in the main, while Smackdown would have Rock (whenever), Angle, UT, Jericho and probably Hogan (for as long as the pops keep up). Only trade I can think of to get Benoit over to RAW and it would give RAW I think a strong heel presence... and hopefully would push Bradshaw out of the main event. Guest Report post Posted April 18, 2002 You have to remember that if Austin/HHH/Benoit are on RAW and Angle/Jericho/Rock are on Smackdown if Benoit say got the belt he can compete on Smackdown against Jericho or Angle same thing if Angle got the belt he could compete against HHH. Guest justcoz Report post Posted April 19, 2002 GREAT STORYLINE and Benoit should definitely be the acquisition which goes to RAW. A year of Benoit vs. Austin, RVD, Eddie, Booker T, Raven, Regal, Perfect, X-Pac and D Lo isn't too shabby. Benoit has a Flair/Arn connection with the Horsemen and it would just be a better fit. I like the idea of using Arn as Benoit's mouthpiece and it would lead to constant storyline allegations of Flair favoring Benoit because of their past. We can wait until special events like Wrestlemania (assuming they mix the brand vs. brand at their biggest PPV of the year, to truly make it sport entertainment's Super Bowl) to get Benoit vs. Angle or Benoit vs. Storm. Guest justcoz Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Okay guys. I realize that the Shamrock/Benoit trade off is weak on the surface. My argument is that we've seen Angle vs. Benoit already. Shamrock vs. Angle has potential I think. I'm sorry if you guys don't agree but it's an appealing matchup and there could be a great buildup for it. Knock Shamrock all you want but much of Angle's "I'm angry, I've snapped and I'm gonna break you ankle" shtick was ripped off from Shamrock's act. Our boy Kurt pulls out quite a few of those. I'm a Kurt mark myself but let's look at reality. His character is based on taking bits and pieces from other characters and merging it into his proud Olympic hero/dork persona. Shamrock vs. Angle is MONEY!!! (credit Tommy Fierro @ 1wrestling.com) Angle has Storm, Christian, Edge, Kidman, Tajiri and most of all (snicker all you want but it would be classic tv) HOGAN!!!! to work with. HOGAN?!!! Yes, Kurt is the Real American. That song should be his and Hogan should have his ankle snapped right at the peak of the return of Hulkamania! As for RVD vs. Benoit sounding weak. Maybe. Could be a conflict of styles. I'm sure RVD would love to work with him though. Benoit has more opponents on Raw though. Like I said, Stone Cold, Eddie, Booker (remember the best of 7) Raven, Jeff Hardy, RVD and even Regal. Plus the association with Flair would lead to a good storyline. BENOIT TO RAW!!!! WHOOO!!!! Angle will once again have to do his best to carry a boring midcard feud (Kane, Edge) And Shamrock isn't NEARLY as good as Edge or even Kane. Shamrock vs. Angle is MONEY!!! Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted April 21, 2002 Benoit should still be feuding with Austin, when they touched upon it, it was already golden with their two great matches on Raw and Smackdown. Benoit can come back saying that even though they've both had neck injuries, Benoit is the much tougher of the two or something. Whether he be a heel or face is still questionable. People will mark out for his return. It sucks that Austin had to turn face, because it would've been awesome for him to be the Bionic Redneck again and Benoit to go after him. We'll see.....
