Should a new folder be adopted?

Should we adopt a new folder for the folder?

 

I'm intrigued by the amount of negativity that generally goes on in the WWF folder, and I think that a new folder might provide an outlet. Kind of like flaming/bitching combination folder. Take the more serious conversation to the WWF folder, the negative stuff over to the new folder. I think the WWF forum will be better, and easier to control, if people have a second option, because the bitching, the conspircay theories, and just generally all the Triple H burying whoever crap seems to make its way into every thread. Just something to consider.

 

Good idea, bad idea, you decide.

 

And we could use a name for it too.

I just PM you to post a thread about this and you had already did. LOL. Anyway, I think it's a good idea. We should make the new folder. Most posters seem to want a folder like this.

...but on the other hand, what exactly would be the criteria for moving things into such a folder? I could understand the various "<xxx> sucks!"/"<xxx> is holding <yyy> down!!" threads that clutter up the board, but what if someone posts something like "Why I hate the WWF and what I would do to improve it"? Or "Austin is a jerk for his one-week boycott", and the thread involved a lot of interesting debates about his actions.

Those types of threads could stay in the WWF folder. I think the problem was all the HHH bitching that spread into other topics in the WWF folder.

I belive we do since we have threads that don't belong in the WWF and Old Stuff folders, but they stay there because there isn't a place to put it. Maybe we should merge the Video Games & Music folders with TV-Movies-DVDs-VHS and re-name it the "Entertainment" folder.

people use those folders alot...and throwing them all together would be a mess.

 

I mean...I only really use the Movies folder out of all those...and I wouldn't want to have to sift through music and video game stuff to get to the threads I care about.

I think you guys should add and Flaming folder, for people to vent, you could pin a "one and only HHH is an asshole" thread, and for entertainment.  A general wrestling folder is a good idea as well, as Tony said there are certain wrestling related topics that don't fit in with the WWF, Indie, or Old School threads.  If you feel like you need to drop forums to add new ones, merge the "How do I?" and "Site Feedback" folders and drop the MMA folder.

I think Video Games, Music & TV/Movies/DVDs should remain separate entities. All 3 folders get enough posts to justify their existence, and bunching them all together would dilute them. I personally wanted Television to be separate, like it was on Ezboard, but it's fine the way it is now. The only thing I would do is take out "VHS" out of the title of that folder, since it's kind of redundant, and nobody really talks about VHS tapes themselves (unlike in the Tape Trading folder).

 

As for General Wrestling...you're right that there are threads that don't belong in either WWF & Old Stuff, but the old GW folder on Ezboard was kind of the stepchild of the board. Most people seemed to ignore it. Maybe if we renamed The Old Stuff to Old Stuff & General Wrestling?

Maybe MMA & Independents can be merged? It's possible that MMA doesn't get a lot of activity because a lot of time passes between UFC and PRIDE events (I'm assuming...I don't really follow it), whereas we get a lot of weekly TV that we can discuss.

MMA folder could go or merge with the Sports folder (I must like mergers or something).

 

I think Old Stuff should stay separate. Although I feel it isn't as good as it should be. Maybe we could add General Wrestling to it. The Old School name needs to replace Old Stuff.

 

IMO, the Food folder could be dropped with any sort of food related posts going into General Chat.

I could see that happening or MMA becoming part of the Sports folder. I don't watch much MMA type events, but I assume it's some sort of sport or extreme sport as the media would put it.

Yeah, MMA merging with Sports isn't a bad idea. It could even merge with Foreign, since some Japanese wrestlers tend to cross over, and PRIDE, K-1, etc are all Japan-based.

 

Yeah, the Food folder isn't nearly as great as it used to be. Whassupwitdat? Maybe because it's all the way at the bottom. I dunno, I'm not a fan of dropping folders though, especially ones that came from the old board. I'm sentimental that way

 

Merging Site Feedback and How Do I... is pretty logical. Also, maybe Site Announcements can be scrapped, since Mike can always post the really important stuff at the top of each page, like what's being done now.

I really, really don't want the porn folder back. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a puritan or anything. I just think porn has its place on the net, and its not on a primarily wrestling based board.

Ok, so Merge folders?  I agree w/ that, that one folder only has 100- post.  About the adition of other folders. The future intent i see in this board to to open it up to more categories to expand the user group on it and more trafic.

Not really, whats a lot to you?  I know a person right now managing forums w/ 400-600 people on them on adverage. thats ALOT of trafic.  once the new version of forums is released to, it will run more effcient.  and this current server can handle this trafic well, much less a better server, it will rock on w/ it all.
