Live and learn.   And for the record, lesbians will mind about a penis being there.   A bisexual wouldn't but lesbians aren't attracted by that.  Its like saying that you wouldn't mind haveing sex with a guy just as long as there is a vagina in the equation.

I know when I was in high school I was a little closed minded. I always thought lipstick lesbians kicked ass though. Going to college and the fact that someone I knew came out of the closet made me open my eyes. I don't have to agree with it but I do tolerate it and accept them for who they are.

It seems you weren't kidding.  <sigh>.   Okay.  I wasn't calling you an idiot for stating your opinion, I was calling you an idiot for saying something ignorant like lesbianism is a fad based around MTV.  If you knew what you were talking about you would realise lesbianism and homosexuality have been around at least since Ancient Greece, undoubtedly much much longer.  There were a lot of 'em on the Island of Lesbos, kickin back, doin their thing, mindin their business.  It's not a fad, homosexuality is part of human nature.  It will be here in the long run.

 

I don't claim to know the secrets of the world but I would appear to know more about it than you do, and I imagine I've lived on this planet a good deal longer than you have to boot.  The fact that I've read all your posts in this thread is what makes me think I'm right and you're wrong.

 

You say insulting someone who does not insult you first is not a good way to have your point taken seriously.  I say making dumb-ass statements like yours is not a good way to have your point taken seriously.  I have many gay/bisexual friends, and I felt your posts were an insult to them, so I responded.  I genuinely thought you were probably half-joking, which is why I called you an idiot - I was half-joking as well.  An idiot is someone who's mentally deficient.  In light of the 'seriousness' of your points, I stand by that assessment of you.  I'd throw the word bigot towards you as well.  A bigot is a person intolerant or not receptive to the ideas of others.

That would be because they're BI-sexual, ie they like BOTH sexes.  Understand what it means before you attack it.  If you try that approach, maybe people will not upset you by accusing you of idiocy or bigotry.

 

If you have intelligent points to make against lesbianism, I would be delighted to hear them.  That it's a fad, or that they don't really like each other are not intelligent points.  Incidentally, I would concur with Dreamer - dating bisexual girls is a very difficult thing to do.  Maybe it could be wonderful if you're not the jealous type, but I guess I wasn't that strong.  Ah well ..........

I don't really think that it is a matter of jealousy to a point.  If you don't view sex as a automatic declaraiton of feelings, then you can get in a realtionship like this.  But if you see the person you care about harbouring or developing deep routed feelings for someone else, man or woman, jealousy will occur.  Some people just can't handle the sex part, which is understandible.  I was pretty much ok with the sometimes I feel like wanting a man, sometimes I don't thing.  It certainly led to some of  the most interesting sexual experiences that I have had.  My relationship ended due to some of the "normal" relationship problems that plauge most relationships. In other words, if the sex isn't a issue(although it will be with alot) then the relationship is no more difficult than any normal one in my experience.  

 

And Risk, you should really read some of you post.  I mean, you said that you don't think that same sex partners are TRULEY attracted to one another.  It is hard to take anyone's opinions seriously that believe something as ridiculous as that.  And that isn't a opinons, it is a fact that that isn't true.  I used to work with this guy that was gay.  He somehow had hooked up with this married couple.  The husband was gay and his wife would allow him to have sex with this guy.  He would talk about how a couple of times, they talked him into atleast trying to be with the wife too, but he just couldn't, no matter what she did(and from his word, she tried alot) he couldn't get aroused by her.  And this was a VERY attractive woman. But he just isn't attracted to women.  Its just the same with lesbians.  They aren't going to be attracted to a man no matter what.  Thats just life.

Listen, I'm not a bigot or homophobic or what have you.  I don't call homosexuals names, I don't judge them based on the fact that they are homosexual, I don't look at someone and think GAY.  With that being said, I meant the girls in my school EXCLUSIVLY dated guys and said they USED to be bi-sexual.

 

I don't claim to know the secrets of there lives, but that seemed odd to me.  It seemed stranger since it wasn't just a few girls.  That being said, about the fad.  I may have not worded that right, I meant there are a lot more claiming to be bi-sexual or homosexual based on the MTV/Real Worlder generation, like some doing it because it's a fad.

 

Which I suspect is why those girls were doing it and told me they just changed their orientation so easily.  I can't say for sure.  With that being said, I just don't think homosexuality is a biological inbred trait.  As in, I don't believe a person could be born homosexual.  

 

People can do whatever they want and I wouldn't want to take that freedom away from them, I just don't think it's biological.

But it exist in every type of species on the earth.  Yes, there are some horses that won't breed because they aren't attracted to the female in heat but are attracted to the male hormone they give off. Same for dogs, and everything else. So why can't it just be that some people are only attracted to people of thier sex. I heard and met so many people that spent years trying to fight their sexuality while EVERYONE around them knew that they were gay.  Its kinda sad really.

What you were saying earlier makes more sense in the context you put it in now.  You have to be REALLY careful when you talk about stuff like this.  You're probably not a bigot, just ignorant of what you're talking about, but when you say things like you said during the course of this thread, it can easily be interprited as such, and it could get you itno a LOT of trouble if you come out with these views in the wrong situation.  

 

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'not biological', but Ripper is right - homosexuality exists everywhere in nature.  From humans to horses to dogs to dolphins to penguins, it just exists.  It's not wrong, it's simply not for you.  Deal with it.

 

I'm not against you having an opinion in the slightest, if it's an informed opinion which you have carefully thought about.  What I object to is uninformed opinions based on gut reactions.  All that does is piss people off who know more about the subject than you do, and make you look like a fool.  When you actually explained some of the reasons you feel the way you do, they kind of made sense.  Just try to think before you wade in with your viewpoints on subjects which are as important as this.

 

Incidentally, I agree with you wholeheartedly that homosexuality is not an 'inbred trait'.  It also exists within the highest pedigrees of society.  Cow-tipping may well be an inbred trait, but Tammy Sytch & Missy Hyatt aren't making a movie about that, so it's all good.

I was actually referring to the other guy who called me that.  Anyways, I know a moderate amount of information on the subject.  Animals like reptiles, for example, mostly look the same and get confused.  Some female cows will also mount each other to show that they are ready to mate with a bull.

 

I don't think homosexualty can be passed at birth because everyone is descended from a heterosexual relationship.
