Guest barnacles Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 What were your favourite old school finishers? They were so devestating back in the 80's, always finished a match. Among mine were...... 1)DDT (jake) 2)Million Dollar Dream (di Biase) 3)Ghostbuster (koko b. ware) 4)Tombstone - it scared me 5)Chicken-wing crossface (backlund) - he scared me how's about YOU???
Guest Dr. Wrestlingphysics Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 I liked Jake's DDT, 'Taker's tombstone and Strike Force's/Santana's flying forearm. Even as a kid I thought the Legdrop of Doom was pretty rubbish.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 Jake's DDT Tombstone Piledriver Perfect-Plex Crossface chicken-wing
Guest Drury37 Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 I liked the Million Dollar Dream,Randy Savage's flying forearm and Ultimate Warrior's Power Press Slam,I must say though Hogan's Big Boot and Leg Drop was cool in it's time. Thanks.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 Man Earthquake's finisher was pretty scary,I mean sure guys know how to take that bump but when 400 pounds pounds on your chest it has to be very painful. Thanks.
Guest Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 Man Earthquake's finisher was pretty scary,I mean sure guys know how to take that bump but when 400 pounds pounds on your chest it has to be very painful. Thanks. Yokozuna's was even worse, and more deadly.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 That's true because he was bigger and he was jumping from much higher up than Earthquake was. Thanks.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 Tazmission 3-D Savage's Flying Elbow Tombstone
Guest JHawk Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 I always liked Tito Santana's flying forearm, particularly when he hit it and landed on top of the guy in a pinning position. One old school finisher I never understood was Ivan Putski's Polish Hammer. It's a fucking double-axhandle, everybody used the damn thing and nobody else ever got the pin. But we were supposed to buy it because of the roided up arms or something.
Guest razazteca Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Ronnie Garvins Stomp was cool Figure 4 by Flair Stinger Splash Moonsault by Vader Road Warriors finisher Double Dropkick by Rock & Roll Express Rocket Launcher by the Fantastics the Lariat by Nikika Koloff/Stan Hanson Torture Rack by 80s Luger
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 The Garvin stomp was the cheesiest move I have ever seen. It almost hurts watching so wrestlers have to sell that crap.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 HAHA!!!The Garvin Stomp!!!It was so funny looking when he gave the Garvin Stomp to Frenchy Martin at WWF WrestleMania V. Thanks.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Anything is funny when Frenchy Martin is involved.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Yeah your right and Rugged Ronnie made it that much better. Drury37 and Dreamer420 the undisputed SmarkBoard Tag Team Champions!!! Thanks.
Guest razazteca Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Ronnie Garvins Power of the Stomp was feared by many jobbers in the NWA. Drury37 don't make have to use the Hawaiin Crush Dreamer420 don't make me have to use the Heart Punch
Guest gwf0704 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 1)The Von Erich Claw (choose your von erich) 2)Figure Four Leg Lock (Ric Flair) 3)DDT (Jake the snake Roberts) 4)Superkick (Chris Adams) 5)Piledriver (Jerry the king Lawler) 6)Brainbuster (Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin) 7)Lariat (Stan Hansen) 8)Scorpion Death Lock (Sting) 9)Torture Rack (Lex Luger) 10)Full Nelson (Billy Jack)
Guest Dace59 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 DDT Sleeper Scorpion Deathlock Piledriver
Guest goodhelmet Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Man, I loved Arn Anderson's spinebuster. Lethal Jimmy Snuka's Superfly Splash Randy Savage's elbow -both were high impact
Guest barnacles Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Yeah, I loved Earthquake's finisher - it killed Damian the Snake for Christ sakes! I really loved the Rockers combination finisher, with Shawn splashing from the top rope, they were so cool, mullets and all. I never really thought of hogans leg drop as devestating, it was more the event than anything else, like the peoples elbow, it sucked a dick. I liked savages elbow, because there weren't that many top rope moves.
Guest Caliban Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 The Tombstone... now there was a scary-looking move at the time. And it was so cool how Undertaker would fold the arms to go for a cover. He needs to do that again.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Yeah the Tombstone Piledriver was a very freaky move and it was even worse when he would do it to somebody when they were in a body bag that was just crazy. Thanks.
Guest Singular Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 I loved Ricky Steamboats Double chickenwing and flying cross body. Rick Martel's Boston Crab was smooth as well until it became the pussified version being the walls of Jericho.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 I also thought the Sharpshooter was a cool finisher and it was great for a guy like Bret Hart. Thanks.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 I always liked Rick Rude's Rude Awakening, for some reason.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Rude's Rude Awakening was good but after a while a lot of guys started breaking out of it.He never hit it the first time in any big matches he ever had. HAPPY 600th POST TO ME!!! Thanks.
Guest JHawk Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 As far as piledrivers went, Paul Orndorff was the man. He always jumped with it and I never saw it look fake. HOGAN sold it well for chrissakes.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Yeah,Hogan usually doesen't sell anything but he knows that Orndorfs piledrivers were so good that he sold, now that's saying something for him and his piledriver. Thanks.
Guest ShamRock Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Randy Savage's top rope elbow drop Hogan's leg drop Million Dollar Dream
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 The sharpshooter was my absolute favorite. I loved Bret Hart back in the day more than any other wrestler so his moves were the coolest. The hate how the Rock butchers it now.
