What's going on?

Recommended Posts

As for Benoit, I believe RRR covered that in one of his previous posts already. He wasn't exactly put over GOLDEN by Triple H.....and we have yet to see where that feud goes anyway.

How could HHH put him any more than he did? He fucking tapped!

You know they could've just had HHH and Hbk knock themselves out and then have Benoit get up from the outside and pin Shawn.

I'm just going to quote RRR's post on page 1 because he covered it perfectly:

In a feud where Benoit wasn't even the focus?

In a 3 way match?

In match which after he said "I lost 2 on 1" and which has been said again and again and again by Lawler?

*How* many times did Benoit get a solo promo? Zero?

Why didn't Benoit open up RAW after winning the title?

How come HHH has been the focus of RAW for the past few weeks and Benoit hasn't?

Still the HHH show. Benoit hasn't gained anything from that win, aside from that thing around his waist; which means nothing if you're still playing second fiddle.

In addition, on the lottery show.....on Monday Night Raw, the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH.....was fought in the middle of the card and passed off as something unimportant. Yet, the Smackdown WWE Heavyweight Title was put as the Main Event, and, shockingly enough, HHH was fighting for it.

Coincidence? The top title of the actual brand is being fought for at 10:20. The OTHER title that shouldn't even be contested on Raw is in the main slot with HHH fighting for it.

Plus....it's still only March. Wait until after Backlash and the following months to see what happens to Benoit's career. Don't act as it's all over yet, and Hunter committed an act of sainthood here by tapping out at Mania. There's a whole HHH trend that could continue......

One on one. That would've put Benoit over at least 10 times more than HHH tapping out in a 3way. Triple threat matches mean nothing. If it was one on one the focus going up to Mania would've had to be Benoit vs HHH. It'd forse tons more focus on Benoit. Instead we got a triple threat where Benoit was just that cursed itch that got in the way of HHH and Michaels feuding. With a one on one match at Mania Benoit beats HHH by himself with no excuses and no aissistance. Also and this is very signifigant the match itself would've been a lot better star quality wise than the triple threat and therefore way more memorable. People would've been talking about it for a long, long time.

I still reflect back to the 'Ultimo Dragon gets signed' thread from last year that turned into an Apologist vs. Complainers mud-slinging contest. I believe the Complainers won that round in the long run. If anything, these things have their comedic value. :)

Nah, that just happens because in their minds, there IS NO WAY IN HIGH HEAVEN OR HELL that they are wrong.

That's kinda funny you say that, because the complainers were right as fucking rain about the Ultimo thing. Anybody trying to say otherwise is a torch. Fuck this "in their minds" bullshit, they were right and people just aren't able to accept it.

Actually, the Apologists were proven to be full of shit when it was revealed that Vince thought Ultimo was a Japanese Rey Mysterio and Ultimo has subsequently spent 90%+ of his contract either off TV or on Velocity.

Of course, the point can be argued that Ultimo pretty much sucks right now, but WWE should look into stuff like that before hiring some one. Stephanie hiring Mr. America "sight unseen" sadly wasn't too big a leap in logic compared to the way this company is really run.

Dude, let it go. You were adamant that Ultimo would use his creative control to prevent him from getting the treatment that he almost immediately received upon his debut.

You lost. Move on.

I admit I was wrong. The question is, can any of these guys? I doubt it.

You only just admitted being mistaken after making a sarcastic comment and then being chastised for it. Big deal.

But why would they? They were right.....

Exactly. But they were NEGATIVE about it which is wrong, I guess.... Being negative doesn't make them any less right.

Yeah, because he WON the feud.

Yep, he beat 2 guys instead of one. The whole match was designed to make Benoit look as good as he could look. The only time they were able to keep him down was when they double teamed him and threw him through a table. Then he still came back and won. Not a fluke win, but a throw Michaels out the ring and counter the pedigree and make HHH tap like a bitch win.

Right, because if the heel and the heel announcer says it, it's gotta be true.

Solo promos that ramble on and on aren't one of Benoit's strong points.

I don't know. Why did Vince open up RAW after Austin won the title?

This week he was putting over Benjamin and last week was the draft where everyone knew Benoit had no chance of switching shows.

Still the HHH show. Benoit hasn't gained anything from that win, aside from that thing around his waist; which means nothing if you're still playing second fiddle.

If anything, last night looked more like the Benjamin show.

Eddy/HHH is just a bigger match than Benoit/Rhyno. That's all it was. No one wants to see Rhyno in the ME. And again HHH was putting someone over here. I could understand the bitching if HHH had won the main events........ But he didn't.

Plus....it's still only March. Wait until after Backlash and the following months to see what happens to Benoit's career. Don't act as it's all over yet, and Hunter committed an act of sainthood here by tapping out at Mania. There's a whole HHH trend that could continue......

If HHH squashes Benoit at Backlash and wins the title back, then I'll agree that he didn't put him over. But I don't think that's gonna happen. Why would HHH tap to him at WM if he DIDN'T want to put Benoit over? That wouldn't make any sense. Most people would have been just as happy if he Benoit had pinned him.

You forgot that they made Benoit, the champion, a total non issue all three weeks and started an Eddie/BRADSHAW feud.

2 weeks.

Three weeks.

Week One's focus was HHH

Week Two was the lottery

Week three was HHH.

Would you rather have the Shawn/Benoit match with the screwy ending finish the show instead of HHH/Shelton?

Ending the show and having a show built around you are different things.

Based on what? Just from him starting the show? Because that's the only thing he did, other than get beat down by Benoit.

The show needed to be built around him to hype up the ME.

Yeah, because he WON the feud.

Actually, technically, he didn't "win". His ultimate goal was "to be the best at WM", and HBK already had beaten him on RAW. He technically shouldn't have been happy with the victory since it didn't prove he was the best as he still hasn't beaten Michaels - so there is doubt. But besides that, the feud was HHH-centric. Primarily it was "Can HHH survive HBK and Chris Benoit at WM". He couldn't. It was still his feud. THEN it was "Can HBK and Chris Benoit coexist to beat HHH" (similar to the first story, but the focus is on _both_ HBK and Benoit.) Then it was "HBK wants HHH really badly". Then it was "Benoit wants to be the world champion". Can you see how this affects his win? He wasn't even the central figure in his own "big match". That's horrible. It would have been way more effective had it just been 1 on 1.

Yep, he beat 2 guys instead of one. The whole match was designed to make Benoit look as good as he could look.

Wrong. Watch the match again, there were countless spots that made Benoit look like an idiot. Being hung up in the corner, getting baseball slide(d) outside the ring, getting "shoved away"... many more. And he didn't beat 2 guys, when did he pin Michaels (like how Michaels pinned him weeks before)? The finish left doubt. 3 ways inherently leave doubt.

The only time they were able to keep him down was when they double teamed him and threw him through a table. Then he still came back and won. Not a fluke win, but a throw Michaels out the ring and counter the pedigree and make HHH tap like a bitch win.

Not a fluke win, you're right. But what does that mean when he's not the focus of the show afterwards? What did this "win" do???

Right, because if the heel and the heel announcer says it, it's gotta be true.

Lawler isn't a heel announcer anymore. It doesn't have to be true, but it's still out there. There is still doubt.

Solo promos that ramble on and on aren't one of Benoit's strong points.

I don't know. Why did Vince open up RAW after Austin won the title?

He doesn't have to ramble on. He just has to take a power position, come out like the champ he is supposed to be, and take charge. Instead the focus was back on HHH.

You want to compare Austin with Benoit? Benoit needs as much hype as possible, Austin didn't. Benoit needs to look like a Superstar so he can get the Superstar reaction (which means long term benefits) - still playing second fiddle doesn't make him a Superstar

This week he was putting over Benjamin and last week was the draft where everyone knew Benoit had no chance of switching shows.

Why didn't Benoit "lead the troops" out to fight Smackdown? He's the champ. Why did Austin? Why did Benoit sit waaay in the back during the lotto? Why did the camera keep focusing on HHH? Little things like that undermine Benoit as champ. Things like not leading off RAW, things like being a midcarder for the past 3 weeks despite having the "big win". What made it a big win if he's still playing the same role as before? What makes Benoit "the champ"? HHH is still in "the champ" role as everything he does supposedly has an impact. Everything he does is important. The announcers keep talking about HHH. It's still the HHH show.

The question should be: Why is Benoit facing Rhyno and why is HHH facing Eddie. Why does HHH get the big match and why does Benoit - the champ - get the short-end of the stick. And how in godsname did Eddie benefit from that and how did HHH lose anything from it? The focus was immediately taken away with the brawl at the end and the focus afterwards was "What will HHH do on Smackdown" and then "HHH is off smackdown, what will he do on RAW"
