Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted March 31, 2004 from ovwrestling.com: 03/27/2004 - DAVIS ARENA SEAN O'HAIRE VS. ELIZA BURKE INTERVIEW WITH THE TEAM PLAYERS INTERVIEW WITH SHANIQUA JOEY MATTHEWS VS. SETH SKYFIRE INTERVIEW WITH NOVA, IDOL, AND TRUDI DENUCCI LOSER LEAVES OVW MATCH - ALEXIS LAREE & STANDING THUNDER VS. NIKITA & MARK MAGNUS SEAN O'HAIRE VS. ELIZA BURKE REF: Ray Ramsey The phrase "big overture-little show" comes to mind in regards to the performance of newcomer Eliza Burke as he took on Jim Ross' OVW Equalizer. Here's exactly how this match went down: Burke meets O'Haire in the center of the ring nose to chin (he gives up six inches easily) and then starts gesticulating wildly how he plans to throw O'Haire from pillar to post. He finishes off with a big shove to O'Haire's chest that sends him back a couple feet much to O'Haire's surprise. O'Haire locks his focus on Burke, takes a running start, and clocks him on the jaw with a solid right hand that sends him to the canvas quick. He then picks Burke up in a fireman's carry and then slams him down to the mat just as suddenly. In one motion he hooks Burke's leg, and Ramsey counts the 1-2-3. This had to be the quickest match in the history of OVW. From the opening bell to Ramsey's hand coming for the third time took twenty-seven seconds. One second later the bell rang again. It took me longer to write this than the match actually lasted. It took you longer to read this than the match actually lasted. Unfortunately for Burke, his pain and humiliation will last a lot longer than that. INTERVIEW WITH THE TEAM PLAYERS Team Captain Nick Dinsmore and Inspector Impact come to the ring with the rest of the Team Players contingent to discuss with Jim Cornette their upcoming matches. Impact says he has an overall plan for his and Dinsmore's match with Sean O'Haire and Johnny Jeter at Broadbent Arena Monday night. Either Johnny Jeter is going to be hurt so bad that he won't be able to compete for Dinsmore's belt at the following tv taping, or Sean O'Haire will be hurt so badly he won't be able to watch Jeter's back in that match. Either way, somebody's HMO is going to be kept really busy if Impact has anything to say about it. He then pointed out the fact that Dinsmore came to the ring tonight without his tagalong, Venus. Impact told Dinsmore that Venus has been too much of a distraction to him lately and that she's been "recalled" by John Laurinitis. And he further warned Dinsmore that should he lose the belt at the next television taping, he loses his WWE developmental contract as well. Dinsmore says he's focused and ready to face the challenges that await him. Just at that moment, Rod Steele comes out to the ring challenging Impact to another match right then and there. Impact starts laughing at Steele's gluttony for punishment and agrees to the showdown. Cornette slides out of the ring as Impact removes his coat. But Masters, Albright, and Dinsmore remain in the ring and don't offer to leave. Suddenly Dinsmore rushes Steele, but gets a right fist to the face for his troubles. Masters rushes in behind Dinsmore taking a swing but gets nothing but air as Steele ducks. But just as Steele comes up, he's caught by Impact's forearm and goes down hard! Albright then puts his Crowbar submission maneuver on Steele as everyone else takes turns kicking him. Seconds later Jeter, O'Haire, and Adrenaline come out to Steele's defense and trade punches with The Team Players until they clear the ring. INTERVIEW WITH SHANIQUA Cornette plays interviewer once again, this time with Shaniqua who no longer wishes to be referred to as Linda Miles in honor of the Amazon warrior goddess princess that she sees herself to be. Cornette asks her why she has been disrupting matches here recently, and her response is that she wants to wrestle in OVW. Cornette points out that she has been offered matches with Alexis Laree, Jillian Hall, Passion, and other OVW women. Shaniqua says she's set her sights on the men of OVW in order to prove she's just as tough as they are in what is evidently a case of "Chyna Syndrome". Cornette says OVW has a strict policy of not having matches pitting men against women as it could be seen as promoting domestic violence. Shaniqua says if she doesn't get what she wants from OVW, she'll find a way to take it! JOEY MATTHEWS VS. SETH SKYFIRE REF: Chris Kay Jim Cornette has compared Seth Skyfire to a young Jimmy Snuka for his versatility in the ring which was definitely in evidence at the start of this match. Matthews would try to put pressure on on Skyfire with armbars and headlocks, but Skyfire would twist, turn, or flip his way out each time. Matthews gets frustrated with his opponent and sends him flying through the ropes where he lands on the concrete floor below. He follows Skyfire out and hauls him back in the ring where he works on him with hard impact moves like knees to the head and kicks to the midsection. Skyfire starts to battle back after he steps out of the way of a clothesline from Matthews to the corner. He then climbs the turnbuckle and attempts a flying crossbody, but Matthews sees it coming and ducks so all Skyfire connects with is canvas. A failed pinning attempt only gets Matthews a count of two as Skyfire battles back with a boot to the jaw followed up by a standing insiguri! His own pin on Matthews gets a count of two so he goes to the high risk move one more time and ascends the turnbuckle. He connects with a missile drop kick that sends Matthews flipping @ss over teakettle! As Matthews is begging Skyfire off, here comes Shaniqua into the ring and she puts an F-5 on Skyfire! The referee calls for the bell and announces Skyfire the winner via disqualification. Matthews is not happy about his loss and starts getting in Shaniqua's face. Shaniqua hauls off and kicks Matthews right between the legs making all the men in the audience wince in unison! Chris Kay starts to advance on her, but she swings and hits Kay in the face! She starts to flex in the ring, and Kay in a pique of frustration, rips off his shirt and spears Shaniqua! He takes a couple of swings at her head until she rolls him over and takes a few swings of her own. Senior Referee Robert Brisko and Referee Ray Ramsey come out and finally get them separated. INTERVIEW WITH NOVA, IDOL, AND TRUDI DENUCCI The entrance music for the Disciples of Synn start up, but Nova, Idol, and Trudi Denucci come through the curtain dressed like the DoS! Nova has on a skullcap, pointed ears, and electrical tape for a beard. Idol is wearing a plastic bag like a poncho with a number seven on it, and he's sporting a red plastic wig to boot. Trudi comes out in a short skirt, ugly top, and carrying a cat o'nine tails. Her face is painted deathly white with black lipstick to complete her ensemble. They spend a couple of minutes poking fun at the Disciples before Nova gets serious and challenges the DoS to a Jersey Shore Street Fight for next week's television taping. What makes a Jersey Shore Street Fight different from, say, a Chicago Street Fight? Or a Brooklyn Street Fight? Other than moaning and groaning in a different accent, not much as Nova says the DoS should bring everything they got because he'll bring the kitchen sink! Cornette says the match is a go for next week's tv! LOSER LEAVES OVW MATCH ALEXIS LAREE & STANDING THUNDER VS. NIKITA & MARK MAGNUS REF: Robert Brisko The stipulation is, in essence, the one who gets pinned in this match is the one who must leave OVW for good. And judging by their entrance to the ring, Nikita and Mark Magnus aren't too happy with the circumstances, especially Nikita. She comes out pushing Magnus away and acting like she wants nothing to do with him evidently for his eagerness to have this mixed tag match before knowing the stipulations. Magnus takes to the ring first and squares off against Standing Thunder. This is a very quickly paced match both men going for sudden pinning attempts. Magnus would switch a headlock to a flip and a quick pin on Thunder, or Thunder would switch an armbar into a backslide for a pin. But neither man can get more than a count of one this early in the match. Thunder then, after a couple of minutes, turns up the heat and starts with hard impact moves that keeps Magnus trying to determine which way is up. Magnus reaches for a tag from his partner, but Nikita is having none of it and turns her back on him. This almost costs him the match as Thunder attempts a schoolboy but only gets a count of two before Magnus kicks out. The match goes back and forth and back and forth until Magnus goes to put Thunder's head to the turnbuckle, but Thunder reverses it and plants Magnus' head instead. Magnus is just staggering around punchdrunk and staggers over to Alexis Laree who slaps him across the face which sends him staggering to Thunder who hits him with the clothesline! Thunder then goes to the top turnbuckle, but Nikita shakes the top rope causing Thunder to lose his balance. Magnus comes up and flips Thunder off the top rope to the canvas below. This gives Magnus the opportunity to soften Thunder up awhile which he does. He puts on headlocks and chokes and tries to wear his man down. Magnus is so successful that Thunder can take no more, breaks away, and tags in Laree. Laree doesn't even wait for Nikita to come in. She goes straight to the top rope for a crossbody on Magnus which he kicks out of and then follows it up with a standing drop kick! She comes off the ropes for another cross body, but Magnus catches her. Thunder comes in and drop kicks both of them hoping Laree will fall on top of Magnus for a pin, but he kicks out of the attempt. Nikita decides it's time to assert herself into the match, and she comes in and hits Laree across the back of the neck with a forearm. She then holds Laree's arms behind her so that Magnus will take a swing. Magnus does take a swing, but Laree sees it coming a mile away and ducks! Magnus follows through on the blow and ends up hitting Nikita across the face! A shocked Magnus looks on as Laree rolls over Nikita for a pin. Thunder comes up behind Magnus, grabs him, and sends him flying through the ropes. Brisko counts as Laree covers Nikita with no Magnus to save her. Brisko's hand comes down three times, and Nikita is the loser! Nikita must leave OVW for good, and the fans couldn't be happier! Magnus tries to apologize to Nikita as he comes back in the ring, but Nikita, not only done with OVW, looks to be done with Magnus too as she slaps him and then spits on him before leaving the ring. A dumbstruck Magnus tearfully watches his now ex-girlfriend leave the arena for the very last time. From Ringside, OVWebmaster Clark Patterson So I guess Jeter's getting prepped to be champion while Dinsmore gets his long-awaited big break ... to play the loveable retard Eugene for Vince.
