Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 19, 2002 Ok, so Len Pasquarelli is reporting on ESPN.com that the Bills and Pats are close to a deal for QB Drew Bledsoe. Sounds good as I read the article until I read this: "Donahoe has insisted he will not part with the Bills' first-round choice in the 2002 draft, the fourth selection overall, and is not likely to acquiesce on that. His rationale has been that the Bills have had the best offer on the table, believed to be a third-rounder, and that the Patriots have no other serious bidders." What!? They can't even part with a fucking second round pick? Drew Bledsoe is now only worthy of a third? The Bills, if this deal goes through, are getting him for a bargain basement price. I don't know who to blame for this. Perhaps it's the sudden notion in the NFL that you can pluck any QB off the street and win a Superbowl since the last 2 winners had a QB who wasn't the MVP of the league. Well, let's look at them, shall we? Ravens: Had one of the best defenses in a long time and held a very weak Giants team to no offensive TDs. Dilfer didn't do much, but he did what was needed. Patriots: Again, the defense pressured Warner all night and forced him into bad throws and turnovers. Brady orchestrated a great drive to win, but had a mediocre game until then. The Bengals would have been a playoff team with him, but now, who knows? The Bills will still be fighting the Jets for the AFC East's cellar though.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 19, 2002 You have to take into account though, that to get Bledsoe, they'd have to pay him the $100 million that he's under contract for.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 19, 2002 But of that $100 million, he only gets $16.5m of it total over the next three years... quite a reasonable sum for a quality veteran QB. After that, he'll probably have to renegotiate , or get cut as a cap casualty, because his contract gets ridiculous after the next three years.
Guest Report post Posted April 19, 2002 I don;t know, I think he is atleast worthy of a first rounder. Off topic, you knwo what I would like to see, one of the shittier franchises run the option, they can get crouch and scott frost and I think it would go well. No one has the balls to do it. I think the boys were gonna try last year before quincy got hurt. Oh well, I can dream --Rob
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 20, 2002 I hear the Raiders are looking to trade up. If they really want Bledsoe Buffalo should trade #4 for the Raiders two first rounders and what ever other picks Buffalo could get from them. Then trade one of the first rounders and a 3rd or 4th rounder to New England. Alot of trades can happen during the draft so don't be surprised if Bledsoe is traded by Monday. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 20, 2002 The Pats turned it down, thank god. I hope bps21 likes Alex Van Pelt.
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 If the Raiders get Bledsoe, I would.....do.........something......out of the.....uh, ordinary.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Who said that the Raiders were going after Bledsoe? Sure it wouldn't had been a terrible idea since Gannon is likely done this year. But they are gearing up for one last run at the super bowl this year before ripping the team apart and "rebuilding" so they wouldn't be going for a veteren big money qb. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 20, 2002 I think he's just hoping that the Raiders get Bledsoe.

My statement still stands, but I read it tired for the first time and saw Raiders and Bledsoe in the same sentence.... which pissed me off.
