Guest Tony149 Report post Posted April 19, 2002 War Games was the best match in '87. Non-gimmick match was Steamboat vs. Savage from WM III.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 19, 2002 I think the Best Match of the Year in 1987 was Ricky Steamboat Vs. Randy Savage for the Intercontinental Title at WWF WrestleMania III. Thanks.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 19, 2002 Savage and Steamboat blew away all the competition that year. Hell there aren't too many better matches in any years than that one.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 One of my favorite moments in that match was when Savage and Steamboat kept reversing the pins,I just thought that was awesome for some reason. Thanks.
Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Let me see... Any match between The Midnight Express and The Rock n Roll Express was just superb that year. Also, the two War Games from the Great American Bash tour were awesome.

Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Was that the War Games that had Lex Luger turned on the 4 Horsemen?
Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Nope, Luger didn't turn on the Horsemen in any War Games. Nobody turned on the Horsemen, it was the other way around. I'm pretty sure Luger was kicked out because he demanded a title shot against Flair, same as Sting.
Guest Loss4Words Report post Posted April 20, 2002 A few things: 1. Flair v Windham on Worldwide in January blew away Steamboat v Savage at Wrestlemania. I like the match too, but of course it's going to be good if they have every move memorized and Steamboat doesn't show nearly the hatred he should have after Savage sidelined him for several months by crushing his larnyx. 2. Luger was kicked out of the Horsemen briefly after Starrcade '87. They started hinting dissension in the ranks in interviews and Luger did a great interview talking about how he was looking forward to facing Dusty at Starrcade ahead of time because he knew that the match was his *alone* to win or lose, stirring the anger of one JJ Dillon. Luger capped off the interview by blaming his loss on JJ's "game plan", declaring that he wanted to start winning and losing his matches based on his own merits and telling JJ that there would be NO MORE INTERFERENCE in his matches. Not exactly Horsemen material anymore, huh? So, there was a bunkhouse stampede a little while after Starrcade that came down to Arn, Tully, Luger and JJ Dillon. JJ decided that he wanted to win the match so he consulted with Arn & Tully about it, who agreed to eliminate themselves over the top rope and now it was just Luger and JJ in the ring. Luger had then had enough of the Horsemen's offbeat shenanigans and threw JJ out himself, leading to him getting attacked and setting up pretty much the entire year of 1988. Booking so simple, yet so effective that was intensified even more when Barry Windham turned on Luger a few months later to join the Horsemen and win the US title, which was great symmetry considering that when Luger came in and joined the Horsemen, Windham told him that he was dumb for doing it and Luger spit in his face. There's my NWA history lesson for the day. Hope you all enjoyed.
Guest Crasper Report post Posted April 21, 2002 Yeah, Windham V Flair does edge out Savage V Steamboat. I've always thought the WM3 match, whilst very good, is slightly overrated. The Worldwide match is great, and better than the one at Florida "Battle for the Belts". Nevertheless, still wanted to see the Rock n Roll Express match...
