Guest swan Report post Posted April 19, 2002 OK I have noticed that some people note they have this video from the WWF that has matches from a various house shows. Call me crazy but a house show is never recorded. The only people that see the show are the ones in the "house". If you have an old tape then the matches were part of a TV taping. I went to several TV Tapings for the WWF between 86-91 and they would tape everything, and some matches would just end up and some video comp later down the line. Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 19, 2002 Not necessarily true. Back in the 1980s, the WWF would air house shows on local cable. MSG shows on MSG Cablevision, the Spectrum shows on PRISM, Boston Garden shows on NESN, etc. These weren't TV tapings, and you only saw them locally. This was done because the shows were sellouts nearly every month and they wanted people to buy tickets for next month's show. They've also taped footage from house shows that weren't shown locally and put some of those matches on compiliation tapes. But none of these were taped for nationally televised programs per se, although they might air them. For the record, they still record some of the house shows, usually in larger markets. Whether they bother keeping the tapes these days is another matter entirely.
