Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Today is the big day. Who's seeing it and what do you expect? I know I'm going to try to get a few Rocky chants going in the theatre and have fun. I'm excited about a movie debut. Who would have thought?
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 I'm going to see it on Tuesday, because 1. I have final exams right now and 2. Tuesday is cheap night at the theatre.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 This is a big day? riiiiight Chanting Rocky in a movie theater? Oh dear lord and you people wonder why wrestling fans get a bad name. An act like chanting stuff in a theater will put wrestling fans above Trekkies on the chart of "dorkdom".
Guest ArkhamGlobe Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 It opens next week in Sweden, and I'll probably go and see it. I expect nothing from it, that way I won't be disappointed.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 well i'm going to go tonight. and i'm going with a bunch of rocky marks so I plan on being an ass and trying to start a rocky sucks chant.
Guest VerbalKint Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 I saw it this afternoon... The Rock wes decent, he did his thing well. But the movie was one of the poorest written and poorest directed movies I have ever seen. It was really bad. Also the fight scenes wern't all that great. But the worst aspect was the screenplay by far. And Vince McMahon's presence is glaringly obvious. But one thing I was thinking, I don't think Rock marks are gonna like it that much. He's not a big bold super hero in th movie, he's a shadowy assassin. Plus he get's his ass kicked a lot.
Guest Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 I thought it was decent for a big, dumb popcorn movie. I liked it more than The Mummy Returns. I can see Rock having a career as an action star (more than an actor). If someone started a "Rocky" chant in the theatre I would have been embarrased for whatever loser was doing it.
Guest starvenger Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 Saw it this afternoon. 6.5/10, but more entertaining than Panic Room. Just don't expect any Oscars here. And Vince McMahon's presence is glaringly obvious. ...if only because he's billed as The Rock (tm and c WWFE)...
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 There was no Rocky chant in there. I didn't start one but I was laughing the whole time at Michael Clarke Duncan's hair. <<<<SPOILER>>>> I was hoping the Rock would make some kind of wrestling reference, but the closest thing was when the sorceress was talking to him about fighting for the people. I said, "Oh shit! The people! The People's Champ!" The whole theater started laughing which surprised me because I didn't know that I was that loud or that the whole theater knew about the People's champ moniker. Just goes to show how much the Rock has caught on with mainstream society. It was a fun time though.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 20, 2002 Report Posted April 20, 2002 This is a big day? riiiiight The Scorpion King, starring the Rock, opened Friday, April 19, and recorded record-breaking numbers. According to Universal Pictures officials, the movie will gross over $36 million for the weekend, making it the largest opening for the month of April in movie history, and will easily surpass the $100 million dollar mark on its opening run. "The World Wrestling Federation is extremely proud that one of its own has crossed over from WWF Superstar to action adventure super stardom," said Vince McMahon. " I rest my case.
Guest Posted April 21, 2002 Report Posted April 21, 2002 Saw it this afternoon. 6.5/10, but more entertaining than Panic Room. :0
