Guest Andy Report post Posted April 20, 2002 As far as I can tell John Studd never wrestled again after winning the Royal Rumble '89. Was this planned to be his final match, as he seemed to be a strange choice to be booked to win it. Andy
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Not a bad way to end a career. By winning the worst Rumble in history. Still a nice way for the big guy to finish his career.
Guest The Great Wesuke Report post Posted April 20, 2002 He actually wrestled Akeem for a few months on house shows, then if you remember he was the guest referee for Andre-Jake Roberts at WM5. I also remember Studd coming out and saving... Beefcake, I think, when he was wrestling Rick Rude on SNME. Andre came out and started squashing Brutus, then Studd came out and scared him off. This woulda been pre-WM5. The whole idea was to put him in a program with Andre again, but Studd disappeared sometime shortly after WM5.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 He didn't seem to be in the greatest health during that royal rumble so a program with him and Andre would have been Patterson/Brisco bad.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 20, 2002 1989 RR match was good, until Hogan was dumped, then the crowd died. 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and on were herendous
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Big John Studd was like the bad face at wwf wrestlemania I because Andre was cheered when he bodyslammed Studd even though Studd was the face, really confusing. Thanks.

Thanks. What are you talking about? Studd was the heel at WM 1 with Bobby Heenan as manager. Andre was the face.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Man I don't know how I got that mixed up,but wasn't Heenan Andre's manager, but Andre was a face.I haven't watched this PPV in 2 years but I am now sure that Big John Studd was the heel and Andre was the face. Thanks.

Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Oh ok,now I understand what was going on.I should watch the first WWF WrestleMania sometime soon because I haven't watched it in a while. Thanks.
Guest Report post Posted April 20, 2002 I met John studd before he died when he lived out here in Fairfax. It wasn't a bad sendoff to give Big John a last run in the WWF in terms of between the rumble and Wm5. Who'd a thought Studd could pull off a butterfly Suplex on Dibiasi at RR
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted April 20, 2002 He was such a big guy and I'm not sure if it was just at WWF WrestleMania V or always but he theme music that was either the same or very similiar to Jim Duggan's theme music. Thanks.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 20, 2002 Studd wasnt realy anything special. He only had maybe a few months at the top vs. Hogan in the WWF then got shunted down to nothing forcing him to leave.
Guest DEEP THOUGHT Report post Posted April 22, 2002 It was ugly seeing Studd pulling his trunks up every few seconds becase of his huge gut. It's not easy to endure the later stages of the 1989 Royal Rumble match.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Studd had all types of Steroid related problems and then got and died from cancer. He was a horrible worker in his best day and was even worse when he won the RR.
