Llakor 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 An IWS Press Release Internet Wrestling Syndicate http://www.syndicatewrestling.com Montreal, Québec, CANADA Thursday, April 15th, 2004 *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE* Pierre Carl Ouellet survives Kevin Steen Pierre Carl Ouellet fought off Kevin Steen, Saturday March 27th, winning two out of three falls to retain his IWS title. But PCO’s victory was neither easy nor without controversy. While Kevin Steen claims that he was cheated of victory, the fans agreed that they had seen an early candidate for Canadian Match of the Year, a fitting conclusion to Know Your Enemies, a show that many fans are calling the best IWS show ever. Know Your Enemies was held at the beautiful Medley in downtown Montreal. The IWS are renowned for the quality of their Medley shows, but March 27th raised the bar for Canadian wrestling. It marked the first IWS show where matches were filmed for Pay-per-View. Aaron Weiss, producer of Wrestling: Past, Present and Future, will present the IWS as the future of wrestling across Canada beginning April 23rd. Know Your Enemies began with the Syndicat de Lutte Internet, Damian St-Denis and Viking St-Veronique defending their «Ceintures de Championnant par Equipe» against the Westmount Playboy, Kid Kamikaze, and his bodyguard, the Career Killer Kurt Lauderdale. The tag contest that ensued between these two teams was vicious, brutal and unfriendly. Both teams had chances to win, but in the end it was the SLI that emerged triumphant with the unexpected help of the New Breed. The Quebec city team superplexed Kurt Lauderdale leaving him easy prey for the pin by Damian and Viking after 9:38. The SLIs victory celebrations were cut short when the New Breed attacked them in turn. Prior to Know Your Enemies, IWS commissioner Joseph FitzMorris raised eyebrows in the wrestling world by booking what he called a «Sexy Hot Young Man Four Way» featuring four of the biggest sex symbols in the IWS: Sexxxy Eddy, Dan Paysan, Matt Classic and Mr. Xtreem. While the match may have been booked for dubious reasons, none of the 450 fans on hand seemed to mind as the fast-paced match unfolded with all four men determined to prove that they deserved to be on PPV. Despite taking a tremendous beating, the IWS rubber man Sexxxy Eddy pulled out the victory pinning Mr. Xtreem after 11:12. While Eddy and his valet, D-Vyn, were busy celebrating Eddy’s victory, le chef du SLI, Fred le Merveille, accompanied by Elsa Bangz, interrupted the party. Elsa was looking for revenge on D-Vyn after their cat-fight at Violent Valentines, but when Sexxxy Eddy defended his valet, Elsa attacked him instead. At Elsa’s insistence it turned into an official match. Eddy refused to take the match too seriously - constantly reversing Elsa’s moves in embarrassing and provocative ways - eventually pinning Elsa with a kiss after 2:15. Fred le Merveille was incensed at the loss, pointing out that Eddy had cheated to get the win using the ropes to give his kiss extra leverage. Fred insisted on his own match against Eddy’s valet D-Vyn which he quickly won - nearly tearing D-Vyn’s head off with a «coup de la corde-à-linge» after 0:37. It fell to Beef Wellington to get revenge on Fred le Merveille in a Quebec Rules Match... Unfortunately, the match seemed designed to prevent all of Beef’s offence banning as it did top rope moves, pile drivers, eye gouges and cartwheels. In addition, Fred’s imported referee from Quebec City, J.S. Trudel, was constantly adding new rules (at the behest of Damian St-Denis handcuffed at ringside) to take away the rest of Beef’s offence. In the end, Beef found a way to turn the SLIs own rules against them after J.S. Trudel was knocked down. Thinking quickly, Beef propped a dazed Fred on the top rope and then revived the referee in time to watch Fred fall off the top rope. J.S. Trudel ruled Beef the winner of the match by disqualification after 10:34. One of the most hotly anticipated matches of Know Your Enemies pitted the pride of Tijuana, the Latin Luchador El Generico against Quebec’s finest: EXcesS69. Commissioner Joseph FitzMorris accompanied his contract superstar to the ring determined to ensure his victory, but EXcesS69 rejected that help going so far as to hit his own boss with a chair. This match was one that wrestling purists were looking forward to and they were not disappointed. The Montreal wrestling website 514wrestling.com went so far as to say, «I would not consider Generico vs. Excess to be out of place in any card... even if it were the finals of J Cup 2004.» In the end, EXcesS69 emerged triumphant forcing El Generico to tap to the stretch muffler at 23:49. After the match, the two men shook hands in a gesture of sportsmanship and mutual respect. If there are two words missing from the Arsenal’s vocabulary, they are sportsmanship and mutual respect. The Crown Prince of Quebec Hardcore lives by other words: violence, pain and blood. At Know Your Enemies, the Arsenal decided to teach those words to Nightmare Manson in a six man death match. Manson stunned the crowd by bringing out as his partners the Flying Hurricanes, who had been injured in January during Praise the Violence by the Arsenal and the Hardcore Ninjaz. Not to be undone, the Arsenal introduced as his partners Hardcore Ninja Number TwoŠ and the man that Nightmare Manson had never visited in the hospital, his former partner Crazy Crusher. What followed has been described as «Old School IWS!» Manson and the Hurricanes were beaten from pillar to post, but the Hurricanes persevered through kendo sticks and barbed wire to beat the «Fan Favourites» by putting the Evil Ninja through a flaming table after 13:46. The main event of Know Your Enemies pitted two men who had been training partners and friends, but whose friendship was shattered when Kevin Steen tried to break Pierre Carl Ouellet’s neck with a Package Piledriver onto PCO’s IWS title belt. PCO demanded a match against Kevin Steen for Know Your Enemies. Steen agreed but only if the match was a best two out of three falls match. The first fall was all Pierre Carl Ouellet as the older man used his superior size, strength and frankly, rage to burn through Kevin Steen’s defence. The IWS champion won the first fall after 8:20 with a thunderous power bomb. The second fall was more balanced with Kevin Steen able to bring his speed, skill and stamina to bear. Nonetheless, it looked like Steen was going to lose this second fall as well when PCO got Steen in position for another power bomb, but Steen was able to wriggle out of the hold and catch PCO flat-footed with a stiff super-kick that stunned the champion long enough for Steen to get the pin at 8:13 (16:33 total). For the final fall, both men pulled out all the stops. At times it seemed like the two men were more concerned with crippling their opponent than pinning him. Ultimately, Kevin Steen took control power bombing PCO from the Medley stage through a table outside the ring. Steen then dragged PCO into the ring for a Package Pile Driver on PCO’s own IWS title belt. Steen only got a two count, but PCO kicked out in a very rigid fashion and screamed in pain when Kevin Steen grabbed his head. Fearing the worst, senior IWS official P-Nut and IWS ring announcer Brian the Guppie pulled Kevin Steen off PCO and called for medical attention. As the stricken IWS champion was being carried away on a stretcher, Kevin Steen grabbed the IWS title and declared himself the champion. At this point, PCO jumped off the stretcher, scattering IWS staff like bowling pins, and attacked Kevin Steen. PCO hit Steen with a Package Pile Driver of his own and then draped his title belt over Steen as he went up top for a devastating Cannon Ball for the final pin at 17:45 (34:18 total). ***************************************** The Internet Wrestling Syndicate is pleased to announce that we will be presenting our next show "Scarred For Life" Saturday, April 24th at the Plaza Theatre on St-Hubert. Myself and 4 of my friends made the short trip up from just below the border in NY to see this (my and one friend's 4th show) and we had tons of fun. Beef's entrance was frickin' godly. The time and money that must have went into it is mind boggling. The brainbuster on the top turnbuckle was one of the most "Holy Shit" inducing moments of my life. I had never seen that before and Generico and Excess are nuts for doing that. That match was another great match. PCO vs. Steen had an insane amount of heat...they had the crowd in their hands. In my opinion, there was not even one bad match. If this show didn't beat last year's UnF'nSanctioned, it was just as good. Fun stuff all around...and once the DVD comes out, get it.
