Layne staley dead

Recommended Posts

Guest hardyz1

At least they think it's him.  This article says that a body was found in his home, but is so badly decomposed that it could not be immediately identified.  But I think it's a sure bet that he's gone.

RIP Layne

(sort of tasteless joke)

Now he'll be the "Man in the Box"

This doesn't suprise me, I normally don't get worked up over a celebrity dying since I had no personal connection with them but Staley was my favorite lead singer ever. I remember watching ECW in '97 and hearing Tommy Dreamers theme music and thinking how great it was but not knowing who it was by(I was a country music fan), I started listening to a rock station and then heard Would?, and knew I had to collect their albums. Well, I have all AIC's albums and to this day I have always considered AIC along with Pink Floyd as my favorite bands.

I recommend to everyone who wasn't aware of Staley's talent to download/buy AIC albums, the Mad Season album, songs like Rooster, Down In A Hole, Man In The Box, Rotten Apples, Would?, River Of deceit by Mad Season and so on. Great fucking songs from a truly great band with a great lead vocalist.

Very sad news, I was shocked when I heard it. It was only a matter of time, though, since he never did kick his drug habbit. I love Alice In Chains, it's just a shame that they'll never be back together. First Megadeth breaks up now this shit. All my favorite bands are falling apart :(

The King County Medical Examiner confirmed it was him.

RIP Layne.  Say hi to Kurt for us :(

If AIC ever reformed Jerry Cantrell could be the singer. He had a great solo with Boggy Depo.

I guess Mad Season won't be releasing another album. It's always a shame when talent waste their lives.

Alice in Chains is one of my favorite groups but a big FUCK YOU TO LAYNE STALEY. You not only fucked yourself over you fucked over your friends, family, and fans. You obviously cared nothing about anyone but yourself, because if you did you would of gotten help. It also occurs to me that Staley didn't care to much about himself either because he committed a very long suicide.

When is the AIC Behind the Music.

I logged on today and found this on an ABCNEWS start-page of all places.  What a shame... he apparently never got over losing his girlfriend to drugs.  R.I.P. Layne Staley.

Very very sad indeed. I had been hoping for new AIC material somewhere down the road.  Jerry Cantrell is on tour for his new solo album and has been doing a ton of AIC stuff. He has been saying that AIC have never broken up and that we might hear some stuff in the future. 34 is just too young. Add them to the list of bands I had a chance to see but never quite made it. What a waste.

No, being killed while trying to save someboy is sad.

Dying because you OD'd on heroin isn't exactly something I feel much sorrow for.

Blame the useless lump of a lead singer.

I feel NO sorrow for his death. None whatsoever.

His death was caused solely by his own idiotic actions.

His death was simply the results of his incredibly poor decision-making.

I have to agree with Mike SC here. In 1994, AIC was supposed to play with Metallica and Suicidal Tendencies on the summer tour but Staley couldn't keep the needle out of his arm. So who do they get to replace them? Fuckin' Rob Halford's Fight!!! What a bunch of shit and I'm still bitter at AIC for it.

Danzig was the replacement when I saw them in the summer of 94.

Drug addition is a disease. He could not help it. He knew he had a problem, he admitted it in the press before but his sickness was too powerful. I was once a pysch major that wanted to help people. After a summer working with drug addicts and mentally disabled children I couldn't go on. These people need help, not to be tormented. Until you go through it with somebody you can never really know.

This is very very sad. Every overdose is very very sad, because 9 times out of 10 a really good person is hidden under the addiction.

That's very true. My Best Friend died of an overdose. He was a great person but the drugs completely warped him, he fought it for 3 years before he gave in and od'd

<<<Drug addition is a disease.>>>

No, the flu is a disease. Addiction is personal weakness.

<<<He could not help it.>>>

Well, outside of, you know, not taking heroin at all. Amazingly, I have never taken heroin and, lo and behold, no addiction to heroin problem here.

<<<He knew he had a problem, he admitted it in the press before but his sickness was too powerful.>>>

No, he was a weak, weak, weak man. Do I feel bad for him? No, not at all. I feel for his family that they had a family member who was more interested in getting himself high rather than not hurting them.

<<<I was once a pysch major that wanted to help people. After a summer working with drug addicts and mentally disabled children I couldn't go on. These people need help, not to be tormented.>>>

World of difference between addicts and disabled children. Children did nothing to warrant their fate.

All addicts reap what they sow.

Wish to avoid heroin addiction? Don't take heroin.

Wish to avoid cocaine addiction? Don't take cocaine.

Not exactly a tough thing.

<<<Until you go through it with somebody you can never really know.>>>

I know several people who have drug problems. Am I supposed to simply ignore that, in the end, they brought all of their hardships upon themselves?

<<<This is very very sad. Every overdose is very very sad, because 9 times out of 10 a really good person is hidden under the addiction. >>>

No, 10 times out of 10 you a weak, selfish person underneath the addiction.

Save your sympathy for those who deserve it.

I don't consider drug addiction a disease. You have a choice to start using drugs or not. You do not however have a choice at if you wanna try Cancer or Aids.

Nevertheless, it sucks that he died. Great singer from a great band.

”No, the flu is a disease. Addiction is personal weakness.”

Sorry buddy but it is a disease. It’s a fact in the medical world. You are entitled to your own opinion but it is wrong.

<<<He knew he had a problem, he admitted it in the press before but his sickness was too powerful.>>>

He had a problem. Plan and simple. He did mess up when he first tried drugs, but his chemical make-up would never let him quit without the proper medical treatment.

”World of difference between addicts and disabled children. Children did nothing to warrant their fate.”

I never said the two were related in any way. I worked for a place that gave me the opportunity to work with both.

”All addicts reap what they sow.”

Not really. A lot of addicts are a result of there surroundings. Many addicts know no other way of life.

”Wish to avoid heroin addiction? Don't take heroin.

Wish to avoid cocaine addiction? Don't take cocaine.

Not exactly a tough thing.”

For me and you true, but for others it’s not

”No, 10 times out of 10 you a weak, selfish person underneath the addiction.

Comments and the people these comments come from are just ignorant. Granted you are entitled to your opinion but in the medical community you are dead wrong. I truly hope nobody attempts to approach you for help because they will end up dead. Please open your eyes and research the problem of addicts more, you owe it to yourself because you never know if a close friend, relative, or child will ever need help.

I could care less what psychologists call it. Every addict brings the "disease" upon themselves, thus it's a weakness.

Hmmm, my grandfather was an alcoholic and my mother has long said that he made her NOT want to drink alcohol because of how he was.

I have several friends who abuse several drugs---which makes me not want to do it since these same friends behave as total idiots when they're high.

That's a total load of crap. It's REAL easy to avoid taking drugs.

You simply don't do it.

Coddling addicts isn't going to help anybody.

Could care less about the medical community and its beliefs. After all, I don't stand to make a killing "curing" anybody of this "disease".

Addicts are weak-willed people who would rather get high than deal with the fact that, yes, life isn't always a lot of fun.

If somebody wants to kick the habit, I will help them do so.

If they want somebody to SYMPATHIZE with them because they are weak-willed people, then they will be sorely disappointed.

You need to fuck off.

A man died, and all you can do is harass him, and say how much better you are than him?

He knew taking heroin wasn't good, that's why he went into rehab, guess what, it has nothing to do with willpower, your BODY actually NEEDS it. Without it, he would've died, simply. The treatment didn't work.

And you say it's not genetic, but it is. Some body types get addicted faster than others. For all we know he took it one time, just to try it, and from then on he was hooked.

And you say you don't mourn anyone who OD'd and died? So lets say your sibling is at a party, and just once, snorts a line of crack because he's pressured into it and dies. Are you going to sit here and talk about personal weakness, and how you don't care that he died? No, you wouldn't. You'd mourn him.

Respect the dead, and screw off.

RIP Layne.
