Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I don't see how he expects to wrestle in Japan if he couldn't handle wrestling in the WWF. I mean NJPW is going to be a lot harder on the body than the WWF style and considering McMahon was banning moves left and right. EDIT: I guess the only good thing, if you can call it that, is they can do Hogan/Austin. Perhaps, but the WWE schedule is much more grueling that NJ. Austin would be good bait for getting a US audience for Pride shows. They could air 1/2 HUSTLE and 1/2 straight up Pride shows in one package. Austin has serious PPV marketability in the states. If he signed up with NJPW, they could do Austin/Hogan or Austin/Sapp with a Mike Tyson involved somehow. Lord knows they are in dire need big matches to fill the Dome. He has brings much more potential for DSE though, since New Japan isn't as interested in branching out into the states and Austin's drawing power in Japan is questionable despite WWE's popularity over there. Thanks god someone finally said this. Seriously, I have no idea why NJ would even wanna use Austin besides the fact that he's a draw in America. Keep in mind we are talking about a guy that has a bad neck first off that was bothering him to the point where he had to retire. Also, he's still gonna be limited while fighting(which would take away from the matches) and honestly, I don't think Austin is going to be the easiest to work with as well because who would they have him fight in the first place? Chono, Tenzen, or maybe Nagata? I really don't see him paired up against anyone who is a legit shooter either, especially for the fact that I highly doubt that a) Austin would work a stiff style or B) that he be willing to put any of them over. But as he is apparently dealing with DSE though, so this may never even be an issue.
thuganomics 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 We'll get Austin/Goldberg in Japan at HUSTLE and that will be that. Although Inoki's crazy enough to sign Austin v. Mr. T, so you never know. Maybe he will show up in NJPW.
Guest Hot Ticket Report post Posted April 22, 2004 "Seriously, I have no idea why NJ would even wanna use Austin besides the fact that he's a draw in America" There is supposd to be another reason? Hes probably not staying there for too long and he cant wrestle too well. Make money off what you can. Its like a once in a lifetime opportunity for them. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I guess Bob Sapp vs. Austin might be worth some money to New Japan but I really doubt Austin would be up for being in the ring with such a green worker in Sapp.

You said it yourself, he won't be there long and he can't wrestle. You just figured out why I think it's a stupid idea. Now drop it........
Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I wouldn't expect Austin to have so many matches there. If anything he might just work the Goldberg match, wait awhile, see how he feels, then maybe have another match. If anything I think its just going to be a one time deal. It was to report a newsitem. Nobody else seems to care, so I highly doubt it's this big deal your making it into.
