Ultimo Dragon Returns

Ultimo Dragon will be returning to wrestling in Japan where he will make his first appearance for New Japan Pro Wrestling in quite a while. Ultimo was once a key star in New Japan's junior division before leaving the company and forming his own promotion Toryumon.

New Japan's Director Uei announced today that Ultimo Dragon will be the sixth man in the junior trios match which will kick off the 5/3 Tokyo Dome show next month. Dragon had been receiving mail from New Japan offices but only recently replied, as he has taken a leave of abscence from WWE as of May, when he can wrestle freelance.

Ultimo will be teaming with Koji Kanemoto and "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson of ROH and U.S. Indy fame, to take on the team of Heat, Tiger Mask, and Naomichi Marufuji.

Uei also plans to offer Ultimo a spot in this year's legendary Best of the Super Jr. tournament. He hopes that he can make an impact on Japan's junior division as a whole, as it has been on a downswing lately.

Now that is a match that I wanna see.

The match will probably be good it'll be interesting to see if Ultimo has lost anything since joining WWE, or if he'll just be motivated as hell since he's getting a shot to actually work.

Once again, amidst all the NJ vs K1 garbage, there is still the potential for some damn good wrestling, and that's what irks me the most about NJPW.

Yeah that's how I feel exactly. I'm so sick of Inoki's bullshit with shoot fighting yet the Junior division just keeps getting better and it keeps me coming back.

I would hope he'd be motivated as all hell for it. Considering he'd actually be involved in a match that will go over 5 minutes as opposed to his WWE 'work'.

I thought this part was a bit rich:

"Ultimo was once a key star in New Japan's junior division before leaving the company and forming his own promotion Toryumon."

Ultimo never "left" New Japan because he was never one of their wrestlers. He was the top junior for WAR and worked on several New Japan cards as an outsider, but he wasn't under contract with them.

He also didn't leave to start his own promotion, but was *forced* into retirement after his surgery was botched in America while he worked for WCW.

You'd think that if someone was going to cover a news item like this, they would research all of the facts before writing the story.

Consider the source -- who the Hell ever heard of "Impact Wrestling"?? That's like going to neowrestling.com for Joshi reviews.
