I rented Donnie Darko today(along with Ghost World) but haven't got around to watching it yet and was just wondering who all has seen it.

Now onto Solaris

 

Last weekend i watched this movie called "Solaris" on TCM(one of my favorite channels). It's a sci-fi movie from Russia with subtitles made in the mid 70's and it's pretty good. It has some amazing cinematography work in it. It's alot like 2001 but it tells a more human story where 2001 is rather sterile(not that i don't like 2001). It's a very trippy movie too thanks to the cinematography, it's like being on drugs without having to use drugs.

 

If you like movies like "2001: A Space Odyssey" i would suggest that you see this movie. However If you found 2001 to be too slow and boring don't see this movie, because it's very long very slow and not a whole lot of talking.

Donnie Darko is fucking amazing.  I don't usually get shaken up after watching a movie, but I had the chills when this movie ended.  My advice is that you watch it with NO DISTRACTIONS.  This is the type of movie you can't miss a minute of.  Everything connects to each other.  So yeah.... even Patrick Swayze does a good job in it.

I agree, Donnie Darko is an excellent film. The director has a real career ahead of him. It looks amazing and the music is perfect.

I watched it while I was getting my hair braided so I was somewhat distracted. Actually, any movie that I watch when I get my hair done is usually accompanied with distraction because there usually are three or more girls around running their mouths about something in this particular girl's room. I was trying to watch a movie (I can't even remember the name now) and a couple of her friends came in (one is a mianstay in her room) and one started talking about her boyfriend because she had already seen the movie. I was never more pissed off in my life. To make a  long story short, I was watching the movie and liked it but there were certain parts that I missed. I don't even have the movie right now because I let her borrow it so that she could see the parts that she missed out on.

I finally watched Donnie Darko the other night. It's a very good movie...i liked it alot.

 

Downer endings rule and movies like this just reminds me how much i wish more mainstream movies had the balls to send movie goers home on a down note.

 

It's a very intelligent movie but also very captivating. I'm not even sure that i understand every aspect of the movie, but i like movies that aren't easy to grasp without watching it more than once. Also the end sequence is great and surprising even though you are expecting something big, alot of movies can't pull that off.

 

I liked it so much that my new computer background is of the three of them sitting in the theater. For some reason i really liked how that scene looked.
