The best match that I seen for this year actually happen at wm 5  the Blue Blazer vs Mr Perfect match.

before the uplifting mr perfect music

before the Rocket, the king of hearts, before enough is enough

was just two guys who knew how to wrestle go at it.

What was your favorite 89 memory?

1989 was an awesome year for the NWA, so I'd have to say the feuds between Flair-Steamboat, Flair-Funk and Sting-Muta. It's scary to think that most people thought Flair was over the hill in 1989, and then he pulls out a number of classic matches. I also liked the Hogan-Savage and Rude-Warrior feuds, they both had good pay offs.

The debut of Earthquake, when he squashed the Ultimate nutcase in that push-up contest.

Complete no-brainer: Flair vs Steamboat, 2/3 falls, Clash of the Champions. In fact, Flair vs Steamboat would be runners-up as well.

GAB 89 was fantastic, watch it and compare it to anything the WWF did that year and you'll see that NWA was lightyears ahead of the WWF.

For me the 2 out of 3 falls Clash of Champions match in New Orleans between Steamboat and Flair was my favorite match. I did enjoy the following in no particular order:

Flair-Steamboat WrestleWar 89

Flair-Steamboat Chi-Town Heat 89

Sting-Muta GAB 89

Funk-Flair GAB 89

Wargames GAB 89

Warrior-Rude SS 89

Hogan-Savage WM V

I have heard that there is a great Funk-Flair "I Quit" match on a later Clash of Champions but have yet to aquire it.

Hey I forgot one and only add it because it has not been mentioned yet but I enjoyed the Hart Foundation-Brainbusters match from SummerSlam 89 which was a nice technical wrestling match which kinda resembled the NWA than the WWF.

My pick for WWF match of 1989 would be the Brainbusters vs. The Rockers from Saturday Night's Main Event. I thought it was easiler better than any WWF PPV match that took place that year.

Steamboat vs. Flair at WrestleWar was the match of the year.

The runners up were Steamboat/Flair 2outof3, and Steamboat/Flair from ChiTown Rumble.

Best show was Great American Bash.

Match of the Year(Keep in mind I haven't seen any of those Steamboat/Flair matches)was Hogan Vs. Savage at WWF WrestleMania V,that is just my opinion.

Yeah, the Flair-Steamboat, Flair-Funk wars were light years ahead of anything the WWf was putting out. I love Owen to  death, but the Blazer-perfect match was average at best and not anywhere close to best match of the year.
