The WWF from 1986 to beyond

We're going to try this ONE more time. The year is 1986. The WWF was to put on the second inaugural "WrestleMania." But imagine, if you will, if things happened a little bit differently. Imagine "Rowdy" Roddy Piper winning the WWF Heavyweight title in November of 1985. Although we start at WrestleMania II, things before that event have happened to set new events into motion. And now, on with the show...

WrestleMania II

From the Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY

Date: 04-07-86

Match Backgrounds: Roddy Piper has been the WWF champion for nearly five months now. He won it last year in November from Hulk Hogan by unscrupulous means. Piper used chloroform on the champion while the referee was unconscious. Using a sleeper on the unconscious Hogan, he picked up the victory and the title. During his reign, Piper has faced mostly a collection of lower-card individuals, such as Hillbilly Jim and Cpl. Kirschner. This has caused the fans to resent Piper even more. When he did face top-tier guys, such as Andre The Giant and Paul Orndorff, he would intentionally get himself counted out or DQ'ed. Hogan now has his chance to regain his title and beat Piper once and for all -- in a steel cage match. However, Hogan is going to this match with injured ribs (courtesy of an attack by King Kong Bundy)

Andre The Giant will take on King Kong Bundy to make him pay for hurting Hogan (his friend). Andre has also had problems with the Heenan Family, and hopes to take them down a notch with a win over one of its premier members.

In a "boxing" match, Mr. T will take on Butch Reed. This situation started because of Reed's apparent jealousy of Mr. T and his claims that T was just a "Hollywood phoney." Reed has claimed that he, and not T, should be the one making movies with Hollywood. Roddy Piper stirred the pot and manipulated Reed into challenging T to a boxing match at WrestleMania II.

Tito Santana seeks to regain the Intercontinental title from the man who beat him for it -- "The Macho Man" Randy Savage.

The British Bulldogs have been chasing The Dream Team for the Tag Team championship. They'll get their shot at the gold at WrestleMania II.

Terry Funk has had problems with The Junkyard Dog as of late. Funk apparently dislikes JYD's happy-go-lucky attitude. Funk has promised to beat and brand the popular superstar.

Paul Orndorff has been upset with Roddy Piper ever since the first WrestleMania (where Piper left him to the wolves). Orndorff now seeks revenge on Piper's bodyguard, "Cowboy" Bob Orton.

Paul Orndorff pinned Bob Orton, Jr. (10:37) after a piledriver. **

Terry Funk pinned The Junkyard Dog (8:21) with an inside cradle. * ¾

The British Bulldogs defeated WWF tag team Champions The Dream Team (13:40) to win the titles when Davey Boy Smith pinned Greg Valentine. ***

Big John Studd pinned Hillbilly Jim (5:23) after a bodyslam. ½ *

Ricky Steamboat pinned Bret Hart (11:58) with a crossbody block. *** ¾

Jake Roberts pinned George Wells (3:15) after a DDT. * ¼

WWF Intercontinental Champion Randy Savage pinned Tito Santana (16:02) with a roll-up and a handful of tights. *** ½

Mr. T defeated Butch Reed (1:15) in round 4 of a "Boxing" match. *

Andre the Giant defeated King Kong Bundy (7:16) by disqualification when Bobby Heenan interfered. ¼ *

Hulk Hogan defeated WWF Champion Roddy Piper (15:29) in a "Steel Cage" match to regain the title. ** ¾

I like it... usually people don't go all the way back to 86 on these things. Keep it up!

I've gone back as far as 1979 with the AWA, NWA and WWF. I should post them on here sometime

WrestleMania III

From the Silverdome, Pontiac, MI

Date: 03-29-87

Match Backgrounds: Andre the Giant recently turned on his long-time friend Hulk Hogan on a recent addition of "Piper's Pit." Andre has taken Bobby "The Brain" Heenan as his manager and challenged Hogan to a title match at WrestleMania III.

The Killer Bees (like most fan favorites) have grown tired of The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff's anti-American statements. They will attempt to shut the duo up for good at WrestleMania III.

The Junkyard Dog has recently had problems with Hercules. Most of their matches have ended in a DQ victory for JYD due to Herc using his chain as a weapon. Will we finally see who the better man is?

King Kong Bundy will attempt to squash Hulk Hogan's friend Hillbilly Jim. Can Jim get past "The Walking Condiminium"?

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat's throat was injured by "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Steamboat seeks revenge on Savage. Steamboat plans to release the strangle hold Savage has on the IC title. To ensure the match stays clean, Steamboat will be accompanied by George "The Animal" Steele (who has developed a crush on Miss Elizabeth, Savage's valet).

Roddy Piper has had a grudge against "King" Harley Race ever since Race took over Piper's interview segment: "Piper's Pit." The segment was renamed "The King's Court" and hosted by Race himself. Piper will try to defeat Race and reclaim HIS interview segment.

In other feud over an interview segment, Jake "The Snake" Roberts takes on The Honky Tonk Man. HTM viciously attacked Roberts with his guitar on Roberts' "Snake Pit" interview segment. HTM will be accompanied by Jimmy Hart, while Roberts will be accompanied by rock-star Alice Cooper.

The British Bulldogs have chasing the Hart Foundation (who defeated them for the tag-team titles some months ago). In a "2/3 Falls" match the better team will finally be determined.

The Rougeau Brothers hope to defeat The Dream Team to move up in the tag-team ranks.

The Rougeau Brothers defeated The Dream Team (12:44) after Greg Valentine & Dino Bravo turned on Brutus Beefcake. ***

Tito Santana pinned Butch Reed (9:32) after a flying clothesline. **

WWF tag team Champions The Hart Foundation defeated The British Bulldogs (14:38) in a "2/3 Falls" match. ****

The Honky Tonk Man pinned Jake Roberts (9:21) when Honky had his feet on the ropes for leverage. **

Roddy Piper defeated Harley Race (10:22) with a sleeperhold. ** ¾

Paul Orndorff pinned Koko B. Ware (7:33) after a piledriver. * ¾

The Can-am Connection defeated Don Muraco & Bob Orton, Jr. (6:21) when Rick Martel pinned Orton. **

Ricky Steamboat pinned WWF Intercontinental Champion Randy Savage (18:45) with an inside cradle to win the title. *****

King Kong Bundy pinned Hillbilly Jim (6:49) after an avalanche in the corner. ½* Hercules defeated The Junkyard Dog (8:07) with a full nelson. * ¼

The Killer Bees defeated The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff (8:21) when Jim Brunzell pinned Volkoff. * ½

WWF Champion Hulk Hogan pinned Andre the Giant (11:53) after a "Legdrop."
