Anybody here listen to the law?

Guest Lord of The Curry

Am I the only one who thinks that Jason Angew, co-host of Live Audio Wrestling on Sunday nights is a total fuckin tool? Honestly, the guy's favorite PPV is Royal Rumble and his favorite wrestler of all time is Honky Tonk Man. The dude knows dick all about wrestling outside the USA and Canada, therefore he knows not much about wrestling.

Now, I'm sure he's a nice guy and stuff and he seems cool outside the show but I don't know who's dicks he sucked to get the job. Notice the plural. I mean, Marek is the smark with the inside connections, Lovranski is the crusty vet. What is Angew? The retarded new tech nerd who knows dick all about wrestling?

Somebody needs to either get that guy fired or surgically remove his voice box....either way will do for. Oh, and cut off his hands so he can't use one of those talking computer things....

This has been a very hateful Lord Of The Curry, wishing that everybody tunes into Mojo Radio AM 640 in Toronto to see how big a knob Jason Agnew is....

I don't listen as much as I used to, mainly because Agnew annoys the crap out of me. It's not just that he's a tool, it's that he doesn't know how to do his job properly and comes off looking like an idiot half the time. I don't mind it when he's just adding in his opinion every once in a while, but this guy CANNOT carry a show. I'd be willing to listen to just Marrek since he knows the business so well and always has insightfull things to say, while I can hardly stand Agnew's illogical insights for more than five minutes.

He's the producer/tech guy of a bunch of shows on MojoRadio.  When The Law first moved to Talk640, Agnew worked for them, and would once in a while he would turn his mic on to offer his opinion on stuff Marek and Lovranski were talking about.  He would eventually become the substitute host for special occasions when either Jeff or Dan couldn't make it.  He even had a fantasy booker segment each week.  When Marek got the new gig as co-host of the noon show on Mojo, he stopped doing the late night Sunday show and was replaced by Agnew.

Jason Agnew is your average smark with a bit of mark left in him.  He likes the Royal Rumble, well so do a lot of other people, including myself, but that's for another thread.  He likes the Honky Tonk man, that might just be a gimmick, kinda like Dan and his Motorhead, but anyways, he isn't judging favourites from a work-rate standpoint.  He doesn't watch Puro, neither do 80% of the listeners.  I think his opinion is valuable because he occasionally offers a different insight into the product than Lovranski and Marek.  What I don't like about him, and the same can be said about Lovranski, is that the two of them don't pay as much attention to the product as they should for the jobs they have.  A few weeks ago, neither of them even knew that Raven won the Hardcore title from Maven, or that it meant the hardcore title was going to Raw, a caller had to remind them.

I began listening to The Law before I even had use of the internet, so it was my first dose of the "insider" wrestling world.  But now, 3 years later, I find their viewpoints and opinions to be way too one-sided and overtly negative, much like those of many posters on the board.  They fail to see what appeals to the average WWF fan, which are the fans that matter.  They don't update their opinions on wrestlers: they automatically deem every Undertaker, Test, Billy Gunn, or Women's matches to be bad before even giving them a chance.  The same goes for the opposite: they continue to praise Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect for their current roles solely based on their pasts.  None of Ric Flair or Mr. Perfect's matches, as of late, were any good. There was a time when I absolutely had to listen to The Law every week, even when it used to be on at 1AM on Sunday nights.  I even occasionally taped it to listen to throughout the week.  But now, it's just not important to me anymore.

I would agree that the main problem with Agnew is his lack of attention to the product in general. While I can see why you would also have that complain with Lovranskey, he does have enough insider knowledge to grant him a spot, while Agnew, like you said, is really just your average smark.

That's why I said I would watch the show if it was just Marek, since the guy knows what he's talking about, analized the product objectively and doesn't let his fandom for Mr. Perfect or whatever overshadow what's actually important. Yes, he's a fan of Flair, but he's way unbiased about that than say, Agnew about liking Honky Tonk Man.

" Jason Agnew is your average smark with a little mark left in him."

I disagree w/ that statement. To me, Jason Agnew is a mark with a bit of smark in him, due to his hanging out with Marek, not so much Lovranski. I can't count how many times Marek or Lovranski has had to correct him on something I (and many others) knew about. True, a good amount of the LAW's listeners are not puro fans, but the last time I checked the show was called Live Audio WRESTLING, not Live Audio Sports Entertainment. Listen to the Saturday show compared to the Sunday show. The reason that the Sunday show takes all the calls and shit is because if you asked Jason Agnew about the status of the triple crown the torch would think you're talking about the British Monarchy.

Ok, his favorite PPV is the Royal Rumble, I can accept that. I can even accept that his favorite wrestler is the Honky Tonk Man, though just barely. What I cannot accept is his overall lack of knowledge for anything and everything that is NOT the WWF or WCW. Fuck, a month ago I heard somebody correct him on something to do with ECW and that was the #3 promotion in the USA for two years running. If he can't answer something like that he simply doesn't deserve his slot. I would wager my university fund (all 10 bucks of it) that there are a ton of people, myself included, who would kill to have Agnews job. I don't think they guy realizes how lucky he is, to sit there and listen to the likes of Chris Benoit, Lance Storm, Les Thatcher, Ric Flair and so many others grace his phone lines. If he does he certainly doesn't show it.

Also, am I again the only one who realizes that Agnew tries his hardest to be like Mini-Marek. Go to the shows website and look at pics of him, the guy even goes so far as to steal Mareks style of dress. Not to mention he kind of looks like him too.

" He occasionally offers a different insights into the product then Marek or Lovranski."

Yes he does. A retarded, gimmick based, slightly skewed insight, but an insight none the less.

"What I don't like about him, and the same can be said about Lovranski, is that the two of them don't pay as much attention to the product as they should for the jobs they have."

You've hit the nail on the head my friend. My thoughts on Lovranski is another thread entirely, though. Angew takes all the shit thrown his way, the shit that all of us here only DREAM of, for granted. Plain and simple.

Agnew is a tool, but in saying that, I believe that he is also a talented technician who brings something important to the law.

Lavranski... I want to kill... Damn Hippy.

Marek is off and on, he knows his shit and isnt much of a mark as Lavranski (see, can see things objectively) but more or less seems to be an observer parler than an actual smart.

The fact that they ONLY talk about the Wwf is insulting.  If they spend the time they use talking about Hogan being old, slow and evil and used it to focus on independant wrestling and puro, the show would be so much better.
