Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 21, 2002 The Bills finally got what they want, trading a 1st round pick in 2003 for Bledsoe. This is a very good deal for the Pats, since I still see the Bills getting a top 15 pick in next year's draft. So much for Alex Van Pelt being the QB of the future huh? Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I'm from Buffalo. No one HERE considered Van Pelt the future of anything. He was just better than Johnson (who isn't?). Bledsoe is also my favorite player. I used to go to all the Bills/Pats games to watch him. No he's on my home team. So I'm happy. This has been a VERY good offseason for the Bills. THe offense now has a better o-line than it has in YEARS with the additions of Mike Williams and Trey Teague (who may be moved to center). Williams, Ruben Brown, Teague, Ostrowski and Jennings (who turned out to be pretty darn good at RT last year) sounds good to me. And there is a lot of depth there too. With the addition of Marcus Price, last years starting center Bill Conaty (who performed pretty well with a seperated shoulder last year) and young guys like Marquese Sullivan and Corey Hulsey as backups as well. Add to that a blocking TE like Dave Moore and FB Larry Centers (who was the Bills MVP last year IMO) and Travis Henry (or one of the other 2 RBs should have a good year running the ball.) And Bledsoe has targets in Moulds, Price, Riemersma and now Josh Reed to hit. The offense has better tools than they have in a long time. And Special teams has improved too...K Mike Hollis and KR Charlie Rogers are tremendoes improvements over previous years. The Defense still has some holes. CB and LB are not really at issue with Windfield and Clements starting and Chris Watson and draftee Kevin Thomas in the backfield and London Fletcher, Eddie Robinson and Keith Newman at LB...with Brandon Spoon showing last year that he is a servicable backup. Pat Williams was a good DT last year...but someone is needed next to him in the 4-3 scheme. They drafted Justin Bannan...and stop the run in a two DT system seems to be what he can do. So if he can develop into a runstopping starter on the NFL level...problem solved. DE has been a problem for a while. Erik Flowers is a complete bust. But Aaron Schoebel performed better than expected in his rookie year...and Bryce Fischer showed some signs that he could play at this level...And the Bills drafted Ryan Denney too..so we'll see. And then there was safety. There are a whole buch of people that play safety for Buffalo that are just plain average or worse. Travis Tillman returns to play free safety and Peirson Prioleau was able to do some good things back there last season. Billy Jenkins was added through free agency and Coy Wire was drafted...but this is the weakest part of the team IMO. Especially in a defensive system that calls for a hard hitting SS. But all in all...SOOOOO much better than last year. GM Tom Donahoe has done his job to put the best players he can on the field. Now we'll find out if Greg Williams can coach. A new Offensive coordinator on board, and a team that never quit despite not winning last year (the team in the second half of the year was far better than the first half (I lay all blame on Johnson)). My hopes are high...while my expectations are low.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 22, 2002 It's a good deal for both teams. Buffalo gets the legit starter they've lacked since the days of Jim Kelly. Yes, Van Pelt signed a contract, but he's getting paid backup money and he knows it. Bledsoe's very affordable over the next three seasons before his contract becomes backloaded and ridiculous. The Bills could be the Patriots of this season. I'm not saying they're going to win the Super Bowl, but I think they're a better team than their record last year indicated. They're also playing a soft last-place schedule, and have made numerous improvement in addition to Bledsoe. If their defense can step it up, I see them slipping into the playoffs as a wild card. Guest Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I am not a bills fans by any means ( I am a cardinals fan incase you wanted to know) but I think it will be real fun to watch whatmouldes and price do with a qb with radar like bledsoe. I will be picking mouldes very high come fantasy football time. --Rob
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Moulds should benefit greatly. As should TE Jay Riemersma. Flutie and Van Pelt seemed to favor Price as a target...and Johnson couldn't get rid of the ball enough to figure out who his target was. If Bledsoe zeroes in on Moulds...which should be the case...well...Moulds should start earning his contract.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I hope Buffalo has a rock solid O-line or Bledsoe will be on his ass for the whole season. I don't follow Football very closely, but I have seen Bledsoe's inability to scramble, it got him severly injured last year and sacked many times in his career. I like Bledsoe, he was very classy this year, never ripping Brady or the Coach and I hope he does well for the Bills, but Brady is the MAN.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 22, 2002 In one of the stupiest comments ever. Rece Davis yesterday said Bledsoe's behaviro last year was heroic and he was a role model. Don't you think that's using the word hereo a little to lightly. A good trade for NE. I think Buffalo will have a Top 10 pick, and Bledsoe's a statue who needs an O-Line or he'll be destroyed. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Mike Williams-Ruben Brown-Trey Teague-Jerry Ostrowski-Jonas Jennings and Larry Centers and Dave Moore can block. depth with: Bill Conaty, Corey Hulsey, Marques Sullivan and Marcus Price. This is not last years Buffalo O-line.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Well, I'm pissed. The bengals failed to get Harrington and now that Bledsoe is with Buffalo, we're doomed for another 7-9 season with Great offense, great defense, shitty QB.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Nobody likes Kitna here. We bledsoe DAMN IT! We're gonna lose Simmons anyways, we should just traded him. Oh, well...The reds are looking good...Maybe there's hope yet.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I am happy Buffalo FINALLY started making some good moves. After the complete destruction of one of the best defenses in the league three years ago, and holding on to the horrid decision that Johnson should have gotten the start over Flutie against Tennessee, they have been bad move after bad move. Guest Jericholic82 Report post Posted April 22, 2002 This looks to be a good move for The Bills. I personally wanted my Giants to get Bledsoe (cuz anyone is better then Kerry Collins) but I guess they can't afford to part with anyone after losing 7 players and soon to lose Strahan. Oh well, good luck for Drew in Buffalo. I wonder how Brady will perform now that he is the true top QB without hearing about Drew. I guess we'll see. Besides, I am not going to rag on a guy who led that drive to the win in the SB, which I marked out for(can you mark out for a sports moment besides wrestling?). I hate the Rams anyway. So yes, I was cheering for the Pats (when do you ever see a NY guy rooting for a Boston team?) Actually I have liked the Pats ever since Parcells was the coach and it shows how Belichick really is an awesome coach. Parcells set it up (well sort of) and Bill ran with the ball a couple years after. I guess I should shut up as I know little about football though I like to watch .
