Guest Human Fly Report post Posted April 22, 2002 What do you do with the WWF title now? Jericho had it, and lost it to HHH. HHH lost his heat and had one title defense. Hogan now has the title but is going to face the Undertaker who got the #1 contender title after beating Stone Cold in an awful match. What was the point of the NWO in that match? They did jack, and mad the match even more of an overbooked mess then it already was. Jericho and Hogan looked like they were on a collision course for a feud but now Hogan looks to be occupied with Undertaker. People had been kicking around the thought that RVD would get a push up to the main event but that looks unlikely considering he got squashed tonight by a wrestler who hasn't been back for a month yet. Here are the players right now. (As I see it. Not-some will be a stretch) Hogan - The Champ. How long can his heat last? Do they give him a short reign so he goes out on top, or do they keep it on him until the fans are tired of him? HHH - Where to from here? Like him or hate him but this was one of the worst title reigns in history. One title defense on t.v and he pinned his (storyline) ex-wife. Boring interviews and lack of heat were the m.o. for his run with the title. Undertaker - #1 contender and Judgement Day main event with Hogan (unless something changes) if he gets the title bad matches will continue. Also, you run the risk of having the title change hands too many times and devaluing it. Jericho - Heading towards a feud with Hogan, but that has seemingly been done away with. Does he go back to feud with HHH. Unless he wins a match this time it will do more harm then good. Angle - Defeated Edge cleanly at PPV. Always capable of stepping into a main event slot. Really over right now, and having some of the best quality matches of anyone right now (his part at least). Does he continue battling Edgeor does he get shuttled into another meaningless feud. Stone Cold - Crap match at Backlash. Character has no direction right now. Feud with Ric Flair a possibility, but what after that. Time off might not be a bad thing. Send him for some promotional work overseas. NWO - Only reason they are included here is because of their presence in the #1 contender match. Where they did a whole lot of.......nothing. Does this put them back in a feud with Stone Cold. If so, I doubt Austin would be too thrilled. RVD - I'm wondering if he's still IC level after his match at Backlash. He got his moves in sure, but it was still a squashing. A lenghty feud with Guererro could be good, but it was still weird to see him lose (basically clean) after a short title reign. Edge - A dark horse here. If Undertaker does win the title at Judgement Day I could see Edge stepping in to be one of the first contenders. I've said before that if the WWF was serious about getting him over then they would have had him go over the Taker, they would get the chance if Undertaker unseats Hogan. Has been hanging with Hogan a little over the last few weeks. The Rock - Not around now, but when he comes back he'll be a force. As he becomes a bigger entertainment force and a bigger star he'll mean more to the WWF in the limited amount of time they have his services. They might be anxious to give him the title and have him appear on high profile shows (Tonight Show, Regis + Kelly, etc.) with the title. What do you guys think? Did I leave anyone out or did I include too many? Hit me with your feedback.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Angle's style will not mix with Hogan. Could you see Hogan taking a German Suplex, at this point? Jericho can't slow down enough for Hogan to keep up. Edge isn't anywhere near ready for the ME, neither is RVD. HHH bombed as a face champ, Rock is gone, Taker is old. I'd put Hogan over Taker at Judgement Day and then Austin over Hogan at KOTR, the PPV where Hogan lost his last WWF Title. Then Hogan can ride off into the sunset and Austin can feud with Benoit throughout the Summer.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted April 22, 2002 First of all, RVD's loss was hardly a "squash" to me, mainly because Eddy cheated, which usually takes away from the idea of "squashing" since he had to cheat to win. Yeah, I still doubt RVD will be getting any title matches, but whatever. Yeah, Jericho/Hogan will probably be postponed, or they'll just throw it away on TV and then get on with de-pushing Jericho. I'd say ride Hogan's nostalgia act as far as it will go and then job the title off of him the second it wavers. I don't care who, just get the title off of him. Austin would be a good choice, since a win for him would signify stability to a belt that seems to have become a play thing for the bookers.
Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I don't think that Hogan's feud with Jericho is over. People have been talking about feuds with 2-3 months before the payoff and I think Hogan-Jericho will be like that. Since the Title Matches will alternate between Raw and Smackdown i'm expecting Hogan to face Jericho at KOTR. If he faces Austin i'm expecting it to be at Summerslam after he's dropped the belt back to HHH at Fully Loaded.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I think we can all agree that Hogan will beat Undertaker. The Jericho feud will be just filler, I think, and Austin will be the one to get the belt of Hogan.
Guest Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I think it's going to get a whole lot worse for that belt before it gets better. Orange Goblin indeed. But Undertaker has to be inolved in the main event at Judgement Day, the WWF markets it as "his" ppv.
Guest Report post Posted April 22, 2002 If they had Taker go over Austin... I dunno, it doesn't look good. If this title changes hands AGAIN in May, then it's pretty much lost it's credibility. I mean, I realize that they're going with the train of thought that todays casual fan has a short attention span and can't follow a title reign for more than 2-3 months, but come on! That title should be on Jericho (or at least Angle). You know it. I know it. We all know it!
