WWE character development

As of right now the plan is for Booker T to be repackaged after Judgement Day, as an outlandish reprise of the old Papa Shango character. The company also has some wilder storylines planned for many of their current characters, as well.

It seems as though WWE is going in a direction of modeling some of their newer characters on previous stars that have gotten over well. Examples of this are Mordecai (early Undertaker), Tyson Tomko (early Kevin Nash as Diesel), Rene Dupree (Rick Martel), and Eugene.

For fans of the gimmick era, such as myself, this is fantastic news. WWE is in a slump and one of the problems is the boring characters and bland storylines. The cycle is shifting again and it seems we're moving into another gimmick era. Fans are not stupid however all this "realism" is killing the product. Fans are imaginative and want to see creativity. This is why characters like Eugene and Undertaker are sooo fricken over right now. Fans miss the creativity and unrealistic scenarios that made wrestling -FUN-. I look forward to seeing how this further progresses.

Yes, we need thousands more gimmicks.

Bring back the Sheik, or make a mini-Sheik.

GIMMICKS.... we crave them!
