Guest Caliban Report post Posted April 22, 2002 So, Backlash had a hot crowd to start with, and they even got into Kidman vs Tajiri. I thought Kidman should have won the title here, but if he can sustain that heat then he'll win in a rematch I'm sure. That deflated the crowd a little... And then heels won EVERY match after that apart from Hogan. WTF is up with that? The crowd were noticeably quieter through the show, after heeel after heel after heel won... Surely they should have had a couple of faces at least go over to keep the crowd happy. I'd have gone with Kidman and Al Snow/Maven.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted April 22, 2002 The crowd was fine until Austin and Undertaker went all geriatric on them for 26 fucking minutes. You can have all the face victories you want before that and it wouldn't matter. A ten minute resthold will kill any crowd under any circumstances.
Guest Risk Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I don't really believe in heels and faces, so I don't mind.
Guest Report post Posted April 22, 2002 What really kills the crowd is putting below average Mid-Card match right before the main event. I would think they learned their leason from WM this year. Guess not.
Guest What?! Report post Posted April 22, 2002 I think you forgot that Big Show beat those two despicable heels Justin Credible and Steven Richards But, yeah, a face like I dunno RVD should've won.
Guest Report post Posted April 22, 2002 you wanna kill a crowd? just make sure your last 3 matches are the worst 3 matches on the whole card. And something tells me Maven winning a tag title would not exactly have sent the crowd into a frenzy for HHH/Hogan

Guess not. >>> The WWF ALWAYS has less-than-impressive matches before their ME (I suppose to give the crowd a chance to catch their breath and get ready for the ME). They've done it for years. Do I need to remind you what match was before Rock v Austin at the universally praised WM X-7? -=Mike
Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 22, 2002 The crowd were hot for the Hogan-HHH match when it started, but they were silent whenever HHH had the offence. Watch it again, the crowd went crazy for every peice of offence Hogan had but as soon as Tripple H did something they went silent. Oh, and for that guy in the Backlash thread, the boos were for Tripple H, not for the match.
Guest Brian Report post Posted April 22, 2002 That just shows that Hogan's losing in the popularity field. They turned Rock, who worked a short little portion of the match (like am inute) as a heel, but couldn't turn Triple H who worked the body of that match as a heel. It was better than Rock/Hogan though, as a match.
Guest Caliban Report post Posted April 22, 2002 Hogan and HHH didn't have much of an issue going into the match. It hadn't really been built up more than a couple of promos and chairshots. The crowd might have been more into it if they had a reason to fight apart from the title. HHH lost more because of the Undertaker rather than Hogan. I think the crowd wanted to see Hogan win the title, and they popped huge when it actually happened.

Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted April 23, 2002 Triple H vs. The Undertaker .......that TOO INTENSE brawl.....
Guest Caliban Report post Posted April 23, 2002 If I remember, HHH and Undertaker followed the same path as the Austin/Undertaker match last night. Decent opening, endless brawl through the crowd (although they popped) and hot ending... I thought it was ***
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted April 23, 2002 HHH/Taker at Wrestlemania was decent, except for that shitty ass chokeslam onto the inflated airbag thing. But Austin/Taker was a half hour of SLEEP for me. It just was the most pointless match of them all...made even more pointless by the fact that the nWo came down...AND DIDN'T DO A GODDAMN THING! I can't stress how fucking amazed I was by that.
