Guest Special K

I was just thinking, ever since I was a kid, I was always a heel fan. (Ok, I was a Sting mark too, way back when) Who is your favorite heels? This is more for the chracter than workrate. I have 4.

1. ECW Raven

2. Rick Rude

3. Angle

4. Eddie Guerrero

So what's your call?

Fuck! I forgot Ric Flair! Crud. Add him to my list. Complete brain fart. And although They're not on my list really, the Dudleyzzz were definitely incredible heels in ECW.

Damn! I forgot Pillman. He was the whole reason I started liking Austin back in the day.

Also, Dudleyz were good too. I usually mark for heels, and they managed to get me to hate them back in ECW, so that's a plus.

Ted DiBiase, for sure.

Definitely, old school Randy Savage, as well - especially when he turned heel on Hogan on Saturday Nights Main Event - "THE MEGA POWERS EXPLODE!"

Positively, Paul Orndorff, again especially when he turned on Hogan in that tag team match against Studd & Bundy. That was the best thing I ever saw when I was a kid. Orndorff raising Hogan's hand after the match and then taking his head off with a clothesline! It was SWEET!

Andre the Giant. When he turned on Hulk, I remember my heart racing at wondering how Hogan could overcome him (shit, I think I was like 10). It seems a lot of the good old school WWF heels were guys who turned on Hogan. ;)

Also, Bad News Brown. He was Stone Cold before Stone Cold was cool.

I know Funk was a great heel during the Flair 'I quit' time period, but outside of that, I've seen him as a face. Anyone care to elaborate?

And I'm the Million Dollar Man, and everybody's got a price

He had Rich white plantation owner ooozing out of him. With two black servant slaves.  Best heel.  Ever.

Um, I know this aint going to be popular, but if we're talking characters, what about Vince at the start of the Attitude era? He could turn wrestler's heel by shaking their hands.

Sgt. Slaughter around the desert storm period.

Terry Funk during his and Flair's NWA feuds.  Leading to,

Ric Flair.  one of the best ever

Shane Douglas in ECW.  He still is a great talker and plays a heel really well.

Macho King Randy Savage.  He's Nuts.

Eh...

As far as characters go:

Ric Flair- Probably the best heel ever, IMO.

Eddy Guerrero(late 90's WCW)- I loved the smirk and the CHEAT TO WIN~! shirt.

The Hollywood Blonds- They were the Midnight Express of the 90's. Too bad they didn't last that long.

Midnight Express- Ah yes... Possibly the greatest tag team ever(fuck the Dudleys). Plus, Jim Cornette always cracked me up.

Chris Jericho(in both feds)- Was a conspiracy victim in WCW and an arrogant jerkoff in the WWF, I loved them both.

The Rock- Man... he and Austin made 98 watchable.

Macho Man Randy Savage- I loved the psychotic heel persona.

Vader- He was a monster and he would destroy you. Gotta love that.

"The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase- The spoiled millionaire gimmick was awesome.

Am I missing something, or did no one mention good ol' Honky Tonk Man? Elvis impersonators = heel heat.

No love for The Snake?

Even though he was so good he was a tweener.

Piper was god until he retired the 1st time. My first vivid wrestling image was him beating the vocabulary out of Jimmy Snuka on Pipers Pit.

Bad News Brown was great too, way too far ahead of his time.

1. Ric Flair-NWA

2. Ted Dibiasse-remember how he'd sell a DDT by balancing upside down on just his head for a couple of seconds?

3. Honky Tonk Man- Best heel IC champ ever.

4. HHH-2000 CRZ used to call him the New Man in tribute to Ric Fair

5. The Rock-1998- it was the heel character that got over with the fans.

6. Stone Cold Steve Austin-Ditto...loved the 2001 psycho idiot too.

7. Undertaker-1991- NOTE TO THE UNDERTAKER: DROP THE BIKER GIMMICK AND GO BACK TO THE DARK SIDE FOR YOUR MATCH WITH HOGAN...TOMBSTONE HIS ORANGE ASS TO HELL!!!!!!

The original Shiek was in a league of his own.  He gave me the creeps when I was a kid, but because he didn't talk he didn't inspire hatered per se.  He was more like a force of nature.  As for heels in the sense of being able to inspire (non-xpac) heat with the fans, I would have to choose Rude, Piper, and a young Lord Alfred Hayes.  He really pizzed me off when I was a kid.

Art Barr in Mexico along with Eddy. Best ever

Dynamite Kid in Japan, when he looked like he was going to catch the guy vaulting over the top rope, then just moved, rested on one arm and smiled/sneered at the crowd was the single greatest heel trademark of all time.

HHH 2000

Jericho WCW

Vader

Piper

Yokozuna [Heel Champ Run in 1993]

The Hollywood Blondes

Stunning Steve Austin [and very early Stone Cold, 1996, before the Stunner got over]

Anybody here ever heard of Gorgeous George (wrestler not the stripper)? Yeah I know, some of you probably haven't seen his work because of the time period, but this guy was the freakin' man when it came to getting heat. His gimmick capitalized off the post WW2 conservative macho atmosphere in America... by acting prissy and arrogant. I have a few tapes of the guy, and not only can he wrestle, but he made the idea of being a heel a performance art. People literally wanted to kill him before and after the match, and when he would win over a top babyface, a fan riot was pretty much the norm

My list for the best heels

Gorgeous George

Ravishing Rick Rude

Ric Flair

Jake "The Snake" Roberts

HHH - I know he's the internet's wipping boy, but he was the closest thing to a true heel this business had during a time when being a heel was cool.

Kurt Angle

Mr. Perfect Curt Henning

Eddie Guererro

Chris Jericho

UnderTaker (early dead man '90 gimmick)

I think I saw a clip of Gorgeous George (one of them anyway, there was a new one just about every generation) in some like "history of professional wrestling" documentary A&E had a few years back.  There was this one clip of him going like "GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!" whenever the referee tried to touch him (presumably to check for foreign objects?).  Yeah, that was pretty cool, now that I look back on it.

And maybe wrestling is a bit too overmacho here in the attitude era, and could use somebody like that again.

Los Gringos Locos (Eddy Guererro and Art Barr)

They would throw towels out to a Hispanic crowd and make swimming motions on the way to the ring.

Greatest heel tag team in History.
