If hogan shouldn't be champ...

Well, answer the question. Who should be champion now? People are complaining that Hogan is champ, so who would you pick as champ?

They should have kept the belt with Chris Jericho, or have given the belt to Austin at Vengeance, and have Jericho beat a heel Austin at Wrestlemania for the two belts(still should be two belts).  Basically, Y2J should be the Undisputed Champion.....

Austin would be the most stable choice for a champion right now. Putting the title on him would give the WWF a much-needed sense of security.

I agree with Austin.  This is the time of year for traditional face champions.  If you want a heel I would go with Angle.

Easily.. for heels would be Jericho.  Giving him the title and keeping it with him for a good while would establish him and gotten him more heat.  The belt shouldn't came off the guy.

For faces I would say Austin.  If not him than if Benoit was 100% he would be champ.

Angle, obviously. Best wrestler, very over. Should be simple.

I really don't think Angle needs the World Title right now. I'd like him as champ sometime down the line, but not right now. As for now, my picks would be either Jericho or HHH just cuz I like to see a dominant Champion. I would've liked to see Jericho retain at Wrestlemania and go on to seriously feud with HHH for the title, or if they were gonna give HHH the title, they shouldn't have taken it off of him so soon. Say what you will about HHH, but I don't think there was anything wrong with him that a well booked title feud couldn't fix...well, that and a slight character tweak. Anyway, either one of those two...or Austin cuz I hate to see him there with just nothing to do.

Jericho should have retained and become as over and irritating as possible, giving the title stability and building his character.

I agree, they should have kept putting him over, and he would have gotten over properly. The WWF should have had some balls and not just ran to HHH, who did a lousy job.

Triple H should have won the title at Wrestlemania—because the babyface should always go over at Wrestlemania—but lost it the next night to Jericho. See, Jericho would use the rematch clause, then win the match in some nefarious fashion. Can you imagine the heel heat?

Jericho should have gone into Backlash as champion in a three-way match with HHH and Undertaker (who would have beaten Austin in a No. 1 contenders match at Wrestlemania). HHH and Taker would beat the crap out of each other while Jericho snuck in and got the pin. Even more heel heat, and no Stephanie around to leech off it.

That way, HHH and Taker could continue their feud into Judgment Day, while Jericho moved on to face someone new, like Rob Van Dam.

A chyna mark on the smarkboard.....i NEVER thought id see that. Anyway austin as a face champ wouldnt work, its not 1998 anymore, his face charchter is played. Id pop for another heel championship run by austin tho......Jericho bombed as champ, whether you smarks admit it or not, he was the least convincing champ going into a WM ive ever seen. I know i'll get bashed for this one.....but why not taker as champ? I think if theres anyone who deserves one last title run, its taker. He hasnt held the belt in 3 years and his last title run was marred by the higher power crap. Hes much more entertaning as a bad ass heel, than a face, and i think fans could buy him as a very credible champ. He could then job the belt at summerslam to an RVD or a Kurt angle, go off into retirement, and it would immediatly create a new star. I think hes the one that deserves "one last title run"....not hogan.

Id' pop for Taker as champ, but ONLY as a heel.  I'd really pop for Paul Bearer too

Well let's look at the list of people who are at the top of the card:

1. Austin: champ for most of last year and during the huge ratings fall.  Austin as champ has been played out.  Who would he face that he hasn't already beaten like a million times.

2. Undertaker: hasn't been a champ for awhile.  But he hasn't really been at the top of the card either.  Has only really wrestled one good match in the last year and that was with an over 50 wrestler.  His finally title run should be when he's about to retire.  And Taker is boring as champ.

3. The Rock: leaving for Hollywood and fans are growing tired of the face nonsense.

4. Chris Jericho: should never have lost it to Trips in the first place.  I would've jobbed him to Hogan at Backlash and then have him win it back a few PPVs later.

5. Triple H: bombing during his face run.  Even getting fewer pops than Taker.  Only reason he got the belt at Mania is b/c he's f'ing the bosses daughter.

6. Chris Beniot: injured and needs at least 6 months to restablish himself.  Like Trips should've.

7. Kurt Angle: has bombed not once but twice as champion.  Extremely boring champ.  And another title run is going to burn the fans out on him.

8. Rob Van Dam: needs another year at least till he's ready for the belt.

Anyone else is not over enough to hold the belt.  So when you think about it Hogan really was a good idea for champ at this moment and time.  He's a new face with the belt and he can create some different World title match ups.

Jericho should never have lost it (and should never have been saddled with Steph).

I guess I was the only person bored to tears during Jericho's reign, even before Stephanie decided that she was going to be the focus of the Triple H-Jericho feud.  The guy goes over Rock & Austin in the same night, then Rock again, and then Austin again, and he still wasn't drawing major league heat.  He was wandering around doing the same boring heel routine that 90% of guys have used since the dawn of time without adding one new wrinkle that he could make his own.  Sounds like a good time to get him out of the title scene to me.

I don't think Jericho should have retained. I think he should have been booked better WHILE he had the title. Then his 3+ month run would have built up both him and the belt. I don't think there's a conspiracy. I think in general they're booking the champion like shit. He never defends his belt, over even wrestles tag matches, it's just blah blah fuckin' blah. If they would have had Jericho and HHH actually win a few matches instead of just cutting 20minute promos (and in Jericho's case, cheating to beat midcarders in the 1st hour of the show), the belt would be much stronger. I'm sort of ambivalent about Hogan, as in I'm fine with this reign as long as he bows out of the ME after losing clean to someone, (though that'll probably not happen) but we all know he's not going to wrestle much.
