Guest Report post Posted April 23, 2002 Does anyone know if Angle and Brock Lesnar actually founght as amatuers? Apparently, although out of his weight class, Angle won. I'd love to know if this is true. And wouldn't that be an actual solid grounding for a feud?
Guest Report post Posted April 23, 2002 It'd be a frikkin' good match, too!
Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 23, 2002 Does anyone know if Angle and Brock Lesnar actually founght as amatuers? Apparently, although out of his weight class, Angle won. I'd love to know if this is true. Angle won the gold medal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. It was one of the most controvercial decisions in Amature Wrestling supposedly, i'm not entirely sure how he won but it was supposed to be a controvercial decision. He also won at two lower levels as well. Brock is a two-time all american he finished second in 1998 & 1999 and he was the 2000 champion for the University of Minnisota. Another Developmental talent Shelton Benjamin was also a Amature Wrestler. And wouldn't that be an actual solid grounding for a feud Probably, but the WWF wouldn't be too happy to risk Brock Lesner looking weak by losing to Angle and it wouldn't be good for Angle to look weak by getting Squashed by Brock Lesner. Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 23, 2002 Angle is an Amature wrestling grand slammer. He won the Jr. National, National, World and Olympic titles. Only like 2 or 3 people had ever done that before. Also, Angle used to eat people like Brock alive durring his Olympic days.. he'd always go for higher weight classes. There's a bit about it at the end of his book.. He doesn't fancy Brock's chances, but Angle hasn't train in his Olympic way for a long time (read about that too, it's fucking brutal) but if he did....... For the record, Angle won his gold on a Judge's vote, 2-1.
Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 23, 2002 For the record, Angle won his gold on a Judge's vote, 2-1. Yeah, but the judges vote was a bit controvercial. I remember watching it and the commentators were talking about how it was a very controvercial decision.
Guest Report post Posted April 23, 2002 But does anyone know if they've actually competed against each other on an amatuer level?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 23, 2002 I would'ent think so, as Angle is slightly older then Him (He was in the Games before Brock even was in College) so I dunno if they did compete prior to Brock's Contract signing but perhaps since Brock has been a fixture backstage they have on a occasions. Guest Human Fly Report post Posted April 23, 2002 I remember reading something about how they wrestled backstage one time. I'm not sure who won or even if it happened. The Angle fans would probably know for sure.
Guest Report post Posted April 23, 2002 Where's that angle-sault bloke when you need him?
Guest Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Angle and Brock wrestled each other in a dark match before RAW a while back with the amatuer style. I read an interview with Angle, where he stated that he won, but Brock wasn't as easy as he thought he was going to be (in his book, towards the end, he talks about how Brock had been running his mouth, and that in the end, he could handle him easily because he had handled guys even bigger)
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 24, 2002 And wouldn't that be an actual solid grounding for a feud? Yeah, why don't we feed Kurt to Brock while we're at it?
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Angle won the gold medal on a judge's decision.Supposedly, the controversial part of was, the other wrestler was unwarrantedly penalized (not recorded, just taken note of) for stalling and lost favor with 2 of the judges, therefore awarding Angle the gold. Most of the time, judges in High School and Amateur (and to a degree, Olympic) level wrestling do not base their decisions on that type of fighting, but oh well...Angle was holding his own with the wrestler. Guest Report post Posted April 24, 2002 And wouldn't that be an actual solid grounding for a feud? Yeah, why don't we feed Kurt to Brock while we're at it? I was thinking maybe of Kurt being the one to stop the "monster" after tearing up the mid card. Just a thought. Imagine him as an accidental hero to the mid carders, lapping up their praise, then shitting himself when he's on his own with the camera. Funny, me thought. Someone's going to have to be the one to end the "monster" push sooner or later, and Angle actually has a plausible reason and ability to do it. see?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 24, 2002 If Heyman starts playing it up, I could see an Face-Brock (It's evitable) and Heel-Angle having a nice fued leading to Summer Slam in a Amateur Match (Which would grant respect from Media, If it is unscripted) and then you can either have the first defeat of Brock's career or Angle's humilation. Guest Mole Report post Posted April 24, 2002 I think Angle would win, he is a little quicker.
Guest Brian Report post Posted April 24, 2002 If they had an amateur match, neither would win... they'd both fail the drug test.
