His in ring work could be better but he is ready for this push, if you even want to call it that. I guess a push isn't getting pinned within 30 seconds of the opening bell of every match. For example: Booking is incredibly bad? Have Shawn stick a "Welcome to Planet Stasiak" sticker on the door to Ric Flair's office (Or better yet Vince's, but Shawn's not on the Smackdown Roster as of now.) Somebody [other than Shawn] starts cutting really dumb promos? Stasiak comes out and thanks the guy for "being so kind as to speak in the native language of planet stasiak!" [Hi, Hulkster!] Another pointless hardcore match? Have Shawn run in and take out both men and proclaim "I must stop this match and return it to Planet Stasiak!" You know, use him as a means of poking fun at everything else that sucks. Mystery Stasiak Theatre 3000 or something... Well, I'd laugh, anyway. Maybe it IS best that I'm not WWF booker... :-( [Of course, I think Scott Keith said it best, during the height of Christian's tantrums: Any gimmick/angle wherein the guy loses every match is a BAD gimmick/angle.] Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest Report post Posted April 24, 2002 They should go all the way with Planet Stasiak. Have him dressed in shredded pants ala Brutus Beefcake. Bill him as "The Intergalatic Champion" Shawn Stasiak. Have him outside the ring attired in a weird t-shirt and cargo pants holding a cup of coffee. Basically bill the act as Stasiak acting that way to freak out opponents. I can't figure out why it's an intentionally bad gimmick though. I mean, they were making fun of him on Smackdown! so it's obvious that it's intentional... just another way for Vince to book RAW into extinction? But hey, I can't get enough of hilariously bad gimmicks, as long as there aren't any bad matches (unless they're hilariously bad gimmick matches!) involved.
