syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2004 Tomorrow Im gonna buy a headunit, a box and a amp. I have 2 12s that push 700 watts a peice, would i need a 850 watt amp (thats what I plan to get) or something like 1000 or 1500? I dont think there is a need for a amp that pushes more than the speakers, but I dont know about this stuff so I might be wrong. And my friend said the subs are 4 ohms and I should get it down to as close as 1 ohm as possible. Whats a ohm and why should I get it at 1? I think thats it. Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2004 I don't know jack about the other stuff really, but an ohm is essentially a unit of measurement for how much resistence there is in an electric signal. Lower resistance = juice gets through your equipment faster. As far as I know anyway.
