Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 24, 2002 First, they boo O Canada at the Raptors/Pistons game, now, I just hear them chanting "USA! USA!" and booing the anthem at the Leafs/Isles game. First you kill our soldiers, now this.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Hey TREBLE CLEFT. I'm Canadian and I completely agree that that was disrespectful. BUT I went to the Canucks/red wigns game and their were people booing the american anthem there. and even more sadly when the people were asked to have a moment of silence for the dead canadian soldiers some people kept on making noise. It's not just americans, We canadians do it too.

Go isles --Rob No, no you can't. All I ask is that you respect our country. And yes, I'm aware that Canadians do the same thing, but any chance I have to call Americans bastards, I take. Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Treble are you guys up there still pissed becaus eof the South Park song? I agree with you, I can't stand when people talk, don't stand up, and don't take their hats off when the Star Spangled Banner is being played. Here's the solution to your problem, don't play a foriegn country's National Anthem. No offense, but i couldn't care less about the Canaidian Anthem, just as I'm sure most Canaidians don't care about America's, so I think we should stop playing each other's song. Nah we all thought the South Park song was funny. MOST Canadians can take a Joke. I don't give a fuck about the american anthem (sounds like crap to my ears, sorry) and I understand if you don't like ours. Of course I can understand TREBLE CLEFT taking any chance he gets to call americans bastards, as it's something ofa pastime up here in Canada. CWM-Wishes We Could All Just Get Along. Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 24, 2002 I think Canada needs to do something to make themselve's feel special, try invading a country sometime, it's fun! (I'm kidding BTW, for those who lack any sense of sarcasm)
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Nah we're much better at defending countries. Like the war of 1812 when we pushed you americans back across the border.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 24, 2002 I hate it when anyone makes any kind of disruptive noise during the national anthem(s). Here in Baltimore, every time they get to the, "Oh say does that star-spangled banner..." part of the anthem, Orioles and Ravens fans shout out the "Oh!" (from the Orioles being called the O's, of course). It's louder at the baseball games, but it's done at both places, and it irks me every time. It's the national freaking anthem. I know the fans paid their money and all that, but people far better than they died defending the flag that anthem was written about, and I think it deserves more respect. As a frequenter of hockey games back in the day, I heard the Canadian anthem a lot. I'm probably one of the few Americans who knows the words (to the first verse, at least), and I never once booed it being played. Anyone who does that is indeed a jackass. Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted April 24, 2002 I don't like national anthems, and I don't care for them being played at sporting events. However, when they are played, I stand up and don't make a scene, or if I don't want to be there I'll go to the bathroom or the concessions or whatnot. Booing during the anthem is uncalled for under and circumstances, it does no good and just inflames situations that don't need to be there in the first place. What really annoys me up here in Canada is hearing the Canadian media going on about how what happened at the Pistons game was unacceptable, yet they don't say squat about the Canucks game, and even more, last year when the same thing was happening at Canucks and Oilers games, all I heard from the media was "well, I wouldn't do it but I won't tell people what to do with their money". Have the guyts to call a spade a spade, booing the anthem is stupid no matter where you are or where you are from.

I don't mind it so much if it is your own country's national anthem, especially if it isn't meant to be disrespectful. I think its just common courtesy to respect the anthem of other countries. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Why the hell can't people just standup, shutup and be respectful to others for 3 minutes.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Hey Treblw, on the radio today they played the The Caniadian and American national anthem as played by the Montreal Canaidians Organist. The Canaidian fans cheered wildly for the well played and Sung rendition of their anthem and then BOOED very loudly for the American Anthem. Plus the Canaidian guy seemed to intentially play the American Anthem poorly and the Singer butchered it. Disrepectful canaidian bastards! (This really happened and I do find it pathetic, however I won't condemn all of Canada for it, I'll just add to my list of reasons to dislike the French. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Hey hey hey. Lets just face it People=Assholes okay. I would never boo an anthem (unless it is Russia, damn communist bastards taking over Hungary....) I remember after Sept 11. People at the WWF show chanted "What?" during their condolences and the American National Anthem.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Frankly I don't care about the Leafs getting booed. Half of the players are freakin European.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Just at Raw at St. Louis, somebody was trying to fire up a "what" during the National Anthem. Thankfully, his girlfriend reached over and just smacked him right in the craw. I could not smile any wider.
Guest Daredevil21 Report post Posted April 25, 2002 People doing stupid stuff during any anthem bothers me, but I think what bothers me just as much is when people cheer after any anthem. Call me square or uptight if you want to but, you aren't really suppose to cheer after the anthem, and doing so is just a disrespectful trend that got started some time back. Guest Smues Report post Posted April 25, 2002 I don't mind cheering after the anthem, but what I can't stand is the cheering during the anthem. There's that one spot near the end (i can't think of exactly what spot at the moment cus i'm really tired) of the american national anthem where the singer always hits a high note and the crowd cheers and it really bugs me. Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 25, 2002 maybe they should stop selling beer at sporting events.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 25, 2002 That annoys me to, esp. when they do a cannon shot after that HIGH NOTE and it ruins the purpose of the show. Any one think they should finally return to ATB?
Guest starvenger Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I think that unless it's Nikolai Volkoff doing the Soviet anthem for cheap heat, you should stand up, shut up, and respect the anthems being played. And then feel free to boo the visiting team.
Guest Jericholic82 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 What is up with our obssesion with playing anthems before sporting events? Is it really necessary? I would of course, be respectful if they played another anthem. You guys are right, people= a holes And why is it that some Canadians like to rag on the US? Did we do something wrong? What was funny was them Playing the Canadian National anthem at the toronro/detroit game the other night. Like any player from the Raps is Canadian yea right. (if one is please excuse my ignorance). But people should still be respectful. BLAME AFGHANISTAN
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 26, 2002 No, I'm pretty sure all of the Raptors are American, but Canada is where they make their living. After all of what's gone on in the last few days, I've come to the conclusion that only 1 anthem should be played before a game if an American team plays a Canadian team. The home country's anthem gets the fans into the game, so just play that one.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 26, 2002 If we have the national anthem, shouldn't we play those anthems for the players that came from different countries. Like the Czech, Russian, Slovak, Swede's, etc... have an anthem or no anthem
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 27, 2002 It happens everywhere you go. I've seen it happen a lot at Canuck games too.
Guest Risk Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I think it's very stupid when someone hates an entire country, I'm looking at you Treble. I do respect Canada a lot though, with Japan, it is one of the best places to find good wrestlers. BTW, is the proper name for white Americans "Euro Americans"? Guest Report post Posted April 27, 2002 Just be Glad you didn't have to hear or witness Roseanne disrespect the national anthem. What the hell were they thinking when they let her sing. As for that whole Raptors thing. Yeah that is pretty damn disrespectful.Maybe the crowd though this was some sort of wrassling match. USA VS CANADA who knows. The people who booed are morons. They have the right to be morons if they want though. Well just be glad nobody grabbed the flag an pick their nose with it.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted May 2, 2002 Well, I think the booing will end for now (at least in the NHL playoffs). Obviously, in the Ottawa/Toronto series, there will be no booing, and as for Montreal/Carolina, I doubt that any of the hockey fans in Carolina (is there such a thing?) even know where Canada is. Carolina's hockey fans will probably boo the US anthem. I'm Canadian, so either way, since I live in America, I don't care. NBA fans are all illiterate, ghetto assholes any way. They wouldn't know a good sport if a flying rubber disc hit them in the head.
