I've got an idea for kevin nash

Recommended Posts

Guest Spaceman Spiff

OK, I mentioned this in the "Select 30 Wrestlers..." thread.

Some assumptions:

1) Nash sucks in the ring

2) Nash is good on the mic

3) Most of us are tired of Lawler on commentary

So, why not put Nash on commentary w/ JR?  Obviously, he'll play the heel commentator, in a manner somewhere between Lawler's and Heyman's demeanors.  He could even throw in some shooty/insider stuff.

I think he could pull it off.  I mean, there's no way he could be any worse than Cole or Lawler.  Anybody else think it could work?  Or am I just retarded (and if I am, at least say it in a nice way).

I think it's a good idea but they would be paying their color guy an awful lot of money if that was the case. And methinks Big Kev doesn't want to be done "wrestling" just yet. If he were to go along with it though I think that would be genius.

Sure, the wwf would be overpaying someone to do just announcing, but that is their fault for signing him. I think it would be a good idea for Nash to be a heel announcer. Play up to the man's strengths and quit having him do things that make him look bad like run or wrestle.

If they're gonna get a new colour commentator, they should go with Perfect. He's done it before and was actually quite good at it. Plus, it's not like he's in line for a big push or something. It would be a refreshing break from his constant job duty.

My ideal job for Nash is him portraying roadkill, but as a color commentator, stick him next to Michael Cole and you will drive Scott Keith out of his mind.  Seeing Scott's next rant would be hugely entertaining.

Hindsight being 20/20 and everything, I think it could have been cool if they had done that from the very beginning - have Nash come out as the official nWo play by play commentary guy and have him bestow his great wisdom upon us without having to see him in the ring.  But, it's a little late now.

I have an idea for Nash.

It involves a cheap mask, a suit and a laminated piece of paper.

He can be the masked manager of the nWo. Heck, his mask doesn't have to cover all of his hair or anything.

Scott Hall (w/ his manager Vinnie Diesel) rocks!

If Nash sucks as a commentator, then use him as a ring post.  Or is he too lazy to hold the ropes.

I'd love to hear Nash alongside JR. One of the best things about the Alliance angle (a failure that produced a few good things) was Heyman's banter. I laughed my ass off countless times, especially when Heyman would mock JR's voice by yelling "Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Come on JR, you know you want to say it!" From the promo's I've heard Nash cut, I think he would be extremely entertaining in the same way. Either way, I wish they would just ditch Lawler. He was amusing for a while, but geez, he's one of the most annoying people I've ever heard...

I've liked that idea for a while now. But Nash is making too much money to step back from the ring yet, I think.

But it's better than him doing absolutely nothing, which is what he's doing right now. It's a great idea. Shawn Michaels did it in 1994 when he was recovering from a hand injury, and he was AWESOME. Nash would be pretty entertaining, but I'd rather he came on Smackdown, since that's the show I watch.

Though it would suck if he started burying people we love, like calling Benoit a "vanilla midget" instead of putting him over as a threat.

Please, Curt Hennig can't even cut a decent 15-second promo anymore and you want to listen to him for two hours? All the slurring of the words, I think someone needs to yank the bottle from his mouth. *cough*drunk*cough*

Putting Nash on commentary would be detrimental to any show he was on. He'd spend all his time joking about how he could beat everyone in the ring, not put anyone over, be the only one laughing at his jokes, etc. At least Lawler adds some sense of meaningful commentary amid the "Puppies" chants and JR bashing. Nash would overwhelm the broadcast with his self-serving crap. Hear that sucking noise? Yep, that's Kevin Nash.

I've got an idea for Kevin Nash... let him have another go with that Hummer; only this time, don't give him a stunt double.

I'd hafta agree that Nash would be a lousy commentator - he wouldn't put anyone over at all - might be funny to us for a few minutes but we'd probably be begging for "Puppies" within 15 minutes of the opening bell.

As for Mr. Perfect - he was a God awful commentator - I tried watching the Foley - HBK match from Mind Games a while back and I had to freaking mute the audio between Vince's screaming and him saying nothing but "Now THAT was Perfect!" I thought I was going to shoot myself.

I think that Mick Foley would be an awesome choice as color commentator - and I think they should have given him that job after Vince "fired"  him as comissioner (the first time). Linda McMahon could have done it to him as a favor or something like that... If you have the Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops DVD, check out the Kennel From Hell match - he did overdubbed commentary with Kevin Kelly and it was HILARIOUS... plus he's a great story-teller in the ring and really understands how the commentary can add some context to a match to make it even better. I got a better idea how about we put Nash in a Doink the clown suit , because everytime he wrestles he makes me laugh my ass off.

Why has the WWF all but done away with heel commentators.  King is more of a comedy guy and JR tries to be play by play.

Nash could be okay, but I have invisioned in my head Nash telling really shitty jokes and totally ignoring mid-carders and guys he doesn't think are on his level.  He would just be the glass ceiling with a voice.  This is just how I imagine it though.  He could do a really good job.

What would be Nash's motivation to not put anybody over?  He wouldn't be an active wrestler, so he wouldn't have to "protect his spot".  As long as Vince sat down w/ him and outlined what would & would not be tolerated, I think it would work.

Razor's right... Foley would be a pretty damn good commentator. Unfortunately, bridges may have been burned. Let's hope not...

As for Big Poochie's willingness to abide by what would and wouldn't be tolerated, I doubt Mr. Shoot Comment has the self-restraint. Remember the waning days of Nitro when Hall was ousted, but Nash still mentioned him on TV against the wishes of the higher-ups?

Big Poochie listens to one man and one man alone... Big Poochie. I say let him tell his story to a brick wall... preferably one falling down on him.

But in WCW, the inmates were running the asylum.  I think Vince could keep Nash under control.  If not, he'll just fire him.

Regardless, I still don't think he'd be good in the role. I can guarantee he'd just tell jokes that wouldn't go over or give colour commentary in a mock Gordon Solie voice that also wouldn't go over. How can he be counted on to add something to someone's match when he can't even perform well in one of his own?
