Guest Posted April 25, 2002 Report Posted April 25, 2002 Here's another one I loved: Rats. It's sort of "spaghetti horror movie", about bikers in a post-apocalyptic world, who come across some abandoned building. One by one, each of them dies horribly due to the swarms of evil rats who appear to rule the city. Haha, I just watched that on DVD a few weeks ago. It is HILARIOUS. Seriously, it has some of the worst dialogue in the history of cinema. Me and my friend were crying from laughing so hard at some of it. Truly as classic in bad cinema. As for Killer Klowns from Outer Space, it's obvious that the movie was made as a flat out comedy. Nothing in it is serious, and the bad acting just adds to comedy that was intentionally put into the film.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted April 25, 2002 Report Posted April 25, 2002 I second Masters of the Universe and Showgirls. He-Man was my favorite thing as a kid, and even as an 8 year old when the movie was released, I wondered why it wasn't following the established characters plot points. Showgirls isn't a great movie, but I find it watchable and a good way to waste 2 hours. It's probably more famous for being a "bad movie" than it ever would have been even if it was "good". Time for me to throw my picks into the hat: Jack Frost (bad acting, bad FX, but how can you not love a Snowman who has sex with Shannon Elizabeth?) Grease 2 (I HATE the original, but I actually like this one. I have no reasonable explanation for it.) Being a huge martial arts fan myself, I don't think all the Kickboxers after Van Damme's were bad. Part 2 is actually one of my favorite karate films. I'd say the Bloodsport series has gone downhill, however. I got part 4 for 6 bucks on DVD, and needless to say, I've watched very little of it, and it's odd to say the least. The best "so bad it's good" karate movie is probably Don Wilson's "Black Belt".
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 Species 1 and 2. Amazingly poor yet hilarious. Species! I love Species, but its really not that bad. I didn't like Species 2 at all. As for the Jack Frost's, I liked the sequel a lot better than the first. Parts of the original Jack Frost were enjoyable, but on the whole the film just didn't "click" for me like the sequel did. On the "Flix Facts" of the Boogeymen disc it says that there is a Jack Frost 3 in development... can anyone confirm this?
Guest El Satanico Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 I can't believe that no one has mentioned... GYMKATA!!
Guest Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 I haven't heard anything about a Jack Frost 3, but it wouldn't suprise me if they made one. I have 1 & 2 on DVD. To have the Jack Frost trilogy would be very cool.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted April 26, 2002 Report Posted April 26, 2002 I can't believe that no one has mentioned... GYMKATA!! Dear Lord no, I thought I was the only one cursed with remembering that movie. Another "so bad it's good" karate movie is one of my favorite flicks of all time. "No Retreat, No Surrender", featuring Jean Claude Van Damme as an evil Russian kickboxer, who must do battle with a young man trained by the SPIRIT of Bruce Lee! This movie's so good, they have a white guy doing the black kid's stunts! But hey, it came out when I was like 6 and had just started karate, so it's found a place in my heart after all these years. Methinks we need a "Cheesy Martial Arts Flicks" thread.

Guest El Satanico Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 The NIght of the Living Dead where the zombie performs a standing switch on the guy in the cemetary. Since when do zombies know wrestling moves? When it's the zombie of a wrestler. By the way did you mean NIGHT of the Living Dead or RETURN of the Living Dead? Because i don't recall wrestling moves in Night. Also i hope you meant Return because Night shouldn't be anywhere near a folder about bad movies.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 From EI Satanico By the way did you mean NIGHT of the Living Dead or RETURN of the Living Dead? Because i don't recall wrestling moves in Night. The 1990, Savini-directed, color remaked. In my opinion, it was better than the original, because of the acting. Tony Todd was in it, and as you all know: Tony Todd is the fucking man. The scene he speaks of is when Barbara's brother (his name escapes me at the moment) puts the zombie in the graveyard in a waistlock, and the zombie just sort of spins out of it and goes behind him to attack him. It was a more graphic, more in detail, and more REALISTIC fight scene between man and zombie. That sounded awkward... I don't really feel Orgazmo or Mallrats should have been mentioned at all, because they were both incredibly funny on pure intention. You seem to forget that Kevin Smith adds subtle jokes in all of his movies, and Trey Parker, Orgazmo's writer/director/producer/star (I believe he did all 4), was/is a huge Troma fan, so much of the absurdity of ANY of his projects stems from his Troma influences. Hence why it seems he prefers low-budgets and all-out gory scenes in his movies.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 Ah ok he meant the "remake". I've seen it a few times but not enough to remember stuff like that. The "remake" wasn't bad at all but i prefer the original. I think i like the original better because the b&w gave it amosphere that the color "remake" just couldn't duplicate even though they did try. Well either way neither Night of the Living Deads should have been mentioned on a bad movies topic.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 for those of you that havent seen knock off, let me describe one scene to you... a guy opens a safe to show off a weapon to Jean Claude Van Damme, and he sees a rocket in his safe the rocket fires at him, and the rocket hits him, but doesnt go through him or explode, he just stays on the rocket... and goes through a brick wall i watched this in slo-mo, when the rocket goes out the building it clearly curves upward, but then next frame they show it going straight, and it goes straight into a building and the guy explodes on the rocket. Id like to see anyone try to explain that one
Guest What?! Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 I was always partial to Double Team starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman.
Guest cabbageboy Posted April 27, 2002 Report Posted April 27, 2002 I haven't seen this one mentioned yet, but by all means track it down: Slaughter in San Francisco! It is a really shitty 70s martial arts flick noted now for an early Chuck Norris appearance. He is all over the box and in the movie gets a huge billing despite being a supporting heel character. The actual star of the movie, Don Wong, gets about 10th billing (they obviously switched the names). It contain the cheesiest action and dubbed dialog you will ever see. Every time someone hits it sounds like a gun firing. And the acting is hilarious...imagine this exchange between Wong and a Chinese girl: "I shouldn't go in there, it might be breaking and entering." "It wouldn't be breaking in if I invited you in." "Well then you're on baby!" I defy anyone to watch that movie and not laugh so hard they gasp for air. More stuff: Plan 9, Bride of the Monster, Glen or Glenda, Night of the Ghouls (that is actually the only GOOD Ed Wood movie I have seen), Sinister Urge (lesser known Wood but it is cool as hell).

Guest cdstunner66 Posted April 29, 2002 Report Posted April 29, 2002 I am so disapointed that nobody has mentioned Flash Gordon. And you people say you like bad movies. *shakes head in bewilderment*
Guest razazteca Posted April 29, 2002 Report Posted April 29, 2002 Nothing But Trouble especially the dinner scene where they are eating bratworst then the extreme close up do Dan Akroid's nose. Plus it has John Candy in drag!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Posted April 29, 2002 Report Posted April 29, 2002 I am so disapointed that nobody has mentioned Flash Gordon. And you people say you like bad movies. I have seen so many, I forget some of them. Flash Gordon is certainly one of the best. I have the DVD, and it's almost surreal watching it.
Guest converge241 Posted April 29, 2002 Report Posted April 29, 2002 Quote Nothing But Trouble especially the dinner scene where they are eating bratworst then the extreme close up do Dan Akroid's nose. Plus it has John Candy in drag!!!!!!!!!!!! and "mr. pizza guy" and frigging TUPAC!! how stupid was that? Ill add "memoirs of an Invisible man" now that im thinking of Chevy Chase. And "Side Out" with C. Thomas Howell and the dude from Weekend at Bernie's (the dead one)
Guest evenflowDDT Posted April 29, 2002 Report Posted April 29, 2002 I was always partial to Double Team starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman. Whoa, my friend was just telling me a few days ago how straight-up awful this film was, ending it with, "it's your kind of movie". Guess this is a second recommendation for me to rent it next time I'm at Hollywood Video... which could and should very well be this weekend since I don't have any major plans (since, ya know, my major plan of the year, prom, already passed). Anyway, another one that I forgot about until recently when it came in (I ordered it on VCD because it was cheap and I'd never seen a VCD before and wanted to compare them to DVD) was Tobe Hooper's Crocodile. Also, reminded of REALLY obvious errors, check out the ending of Uncle Sam... no spoiler, but it's the first I time I remember laughing out loud at a prop/low production values mishap (unlike the usual where its funny but not laugh-out-loud funny a la Ed Wood). I'd call both of those films good, fairly recent "primers" to b-movie watching.
Guest Vyce Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 I can't believe that no one has mentioned... GYMKATA!! Holy shit! I remember this film. And I LOVED this film. They would air it late at night on like TNT or something....Kurt Thomas fighting crazy Slavik martial artists. Fanfuckingtastic. And I too dug the "Night of the Living Dead" remake, for two reasons: Pat Tallman (Lyta on "Babylon 5"), and Tony Todd, who IS the man.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 I'd just like to say that I think that Evil Dead is not a movie so bad its good... It's just good. It's inovative and effective. And Return of the Killer Tomatoes rules.
Guest converge241 Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 OMG !! forgot about Jack Frost!! "he's chillin'...and killing'" apparentley they left out"..and he looks like a fake piece of styrofoam!"
Guest DrEvil Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 Idle Hands - the cat scene really made this movie for me *grabs cat by tail, spins around head, send flying*. Just so much ridiculous stuff in the movie that's so bad, it's too funny. Striptease - I remember hearing about how the audience was laughing so much at a screening that they had to remarket the movie as a comedy rather than a drama
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Posted April 30, 2002 Report Posted April 30, 2002 Freddy Got Fingered I was laughing my ass off throughout the whole movie at how terrible it all was.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 Nobody seems to like Killjoy, the Full Moon flick about a demonic clown spirit in the ghetto, but I did. As for Idle Hands, that's great... I saw it, and later on was shocked to find out that Jessica Alba was in it when she became famous with "Dark Angel"... I love it when b-movies have people who then become really famous, reminds us that everyone starts somewhere.
Guest J*ingus Posted May 2, 2002 Report Posted May 2, 2002 I put forth more votes for Plan 9, Double Team, and No Retreat No Surrender. Furthermore, I'd pick The Last Dragon as possibly the single most hilariously bad 80's kung fu movie that I've ever seen. ("BULLETS with his TEETH?! Nigga, please!")
Guest Posted May 6, 2002 Report Posted May 6, 2002 I have to add both Brady Bunch movies, as they were so stupid and bad, they were actually funny. I love how they kept the characters unchanged and put them in a 90's setting. They're intentionally bad, and there's some parts I find really funny for some reason.
